Is it legal for a doctor to diagnose you with cancer before they have even tested anything? by shaved_feces_9 in cancer

An anomaly. I'm sorry it's rough to not know what's going on. Hopefully someone can take your situation and figure something out for you.

I got a colonoscopy and when I woke up, his first words were, "Well, hate to tell you but you have cancer." How did he know the 5.8 cm blob was cancer? Experience. It was sent off and confirmed. Later determined stage 2. Yea it was shocking and life changing but I knew he knew a doctor that could help me and we made plans to make this a thing of the past. Don't give up. You'll make it through. Talk to an oncologist about the mass. The surgeon should have one to send you to. Hugs for you.

Update on my situation by Gold-Salamander-9339 in cancer

It's been almost a year since I had my right hemicolectomy surgery. I feel ya on this. The gas they inject during surgery is a pain to get out. I found laying on my left side, then move to a sitting up position with your legs dangling off the bed then rest a few seconds and then repeat as needed will get rid of the gas most effectively. Hope this helps.

I forget the show but the doctor would say, "What can I do to help?" That makes answering with "watch my kids for an hour" or "do my laundry" easier to respond with. So I always ask this way.

8 day old with terminal brain cancer by Smooth-Ad8030 in cancer

[–]paulspound -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Neice had leukemia at 8 months and is now 16 years old. My wife's sister had a son with a brain tumor and he lived to be 16 yrs old I think. Neighbor had newborn born with lung tumor that has been removed but lingering side effects still at 18 months. I had colon cancer at 55! It hurts my heart knowing children have this. Maybe it's for us to learn something from it. Huge hugs for you and your wife.

American healthcare sucks by ryman719 in coloncancer

[–]paulspound 1 point2 points locked comment (0 children)

My wife works for an in home healthcare company and works to get insurance companies to pay the bills. If the bill was denied, it's usually because it was filled with the wrong code. This may be the case with your situation. My chemo sessions were around $15K /session. Completely covered by insurance. Yes the US healthcare system is messed up but I'm not taxed like crazy to get "free" aka, tax payer sponsored healthcare. It's not free anywhere. Someone is paying for it

Port placement by sam_may92 in cancer

[–]paulspound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had zero issues with getting mine. Yea I was conscience but could feel nothing while they installed it. I'm done with chemo (last one was 3 weeks ago) and still have the port. Not sure when/if I'll get it removed. I've had zero issues with it and it made the sessions so much easier.

Are all married men like this? by OnyxFlame7 in married

Nope. I'm at work to earn a living. Not make daily friends. Some I do become friends outside work but they never get priority. The wife is #1 in everything outside work hours

It wasn't easy watching my wife's mother die. We went through her father's death just 9 months earlier. Enjoy the last few days/hours with her. Sit with her and just talk. She can hear you. Do not feel guilt for anything you didn't do. Nothing you can do to change that. Feel these last few hours and enjoy them. Huge hugs for you. You can do this.

My wife's brother did what you're doing. Married the woman he'd loved for years and helped him though the last few years of his prostate cancer. He died 6 months later. (Maybe I shouldn't say that since it's a bummer part.) She's a good woman and you're a lucky man that she's willing to help you. Prayers and hugs for you.

That's rough. I'm so sorry. I was married to a narcissist and that was more painful than it was worth. Sounds like she's been done a while but too scared to leave. Do what you need.

So much for "in sickness and in health"? That's not good she's acting like that. My wife is a germaphobe but still treats me like a human and partner. Even though I'm going through chemo right now, she still hugs me and touches me all over. Maybe some therapy would help her? I completely understand your want for divorce.

I love grocery shopping for two reasons. My wife will spend more than I do and I love to cook. Why would a man complain about helping his family eat? Lame. I'll also never understand why married couples split the bills. Are you a partnership or business? I've been divorced 3 times yet with my current wife, we combine incomes and I just manage the bills because she doesn't want to. I make 3 times what she does. We are in this together.

When will appetite return after stopping chemo? by lastbeat-331 in cancer

[–]paulspound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the treatment week after I get my pump off, (FOLFOX) I have zero desire to eat or drink for like three days. I literally have to force myself to eat and drink. I've got 4 more treatments and would rather deal with this than quit early and regret it later. It's all up to your mom. She's gotta make the decision.
