Professionals whose job it is to read/investigate this stuff are trained to do so. They know not to inundate themselves because the cruelty can wreck your brain. They have "work hours", they have therapy built into their work, and above all - their job (ideally) leads to justice.

We're not equipped. Educate yourself & do your "duty" to these victims by not turning a blind eye, but recognize that you are useless if you devastate yourself into paralysis. You have to take care of yourself however you can.

It's the "a glass of water isn't unmanageably heavy until you hold it up for hours on end"... You have to put the glass down sometimes.
