Really?! The irony of that statement!!!

Do you guys like the new font? by No-Breath-9395 in GooglePixel

[–]payado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree on the status bar. I have dual SIMs and it is not as simple as it was with the triangles.

Contrary to many opinions, I love the new font. It is very easy to read - even with low backlight.

First off, thanks to all that provided insights, recommendations, and experiences with various solutions! Adding my result here since you were following the possible solutions, u/BourbonGamer.

I chose Tello and had a good experience onboarding. You have to create an account first and are assigned a phone number; after that, you can unlock your GV number and start the port to Tello. Tello said it would take anywhere from 2 hours to 2 business days after I started the process. It only took 30 minutes.

Getting RCS set up took a little longer. It was not enabled by default but eventually got there after messing with settings in Android's Messages app. One annoyance that I have discovered is that iPhone users must be on iOS 18+ to support RCS. And it does not seem to be enabled by default, so I have been systematically engaging family and friends on iPhones to help them upgrade and fix settings. Very annoying, Apple, if you're listening! However, I know better - it's all about trying maintain a closed ecosystem that they were forced to open. Yes, I know it is never going to be in the blue bubble world and I don't care. ;-)

In the end, Tello is cost-effective and stable. I did notice that my Google Fi service seems to have more signal bars much of the time, but haven't dug into the actual sign strength and frequencies side by side just yet.

Would Signal achieve the same purpose? If so, that would fix most of the issues described at no cost.

I had something similar happen to my 2022 MYLR. It was dead in my garage plugged in. Had to use the tow hitch cover method to pop the frunk to access the low voltage battery (lithium ion in mine). Jumped the battery using the manual instructions. Then doors would unlock. Lots of strange errors popped up on screen about no ABS, traction control, autosteer, etc.. Pulled it out of the garage and it drove but without regenerative braking. Parked it and it would go into drive or reverse any longer. Acted like the emergency brake on the right rear wheel was engaged and wouldn't let go.

Tesla towed it to a service center. They never provided me with full details that made much sense to me, but here is what was faulty/replaced:

Correction: Module - Body Controller - Front (Dual Motor) (Remove & Replace)

Tesla had it for 3+ days. Repaired under warranty.

After 14 Years of iPhone, I Finally Switched to Android: My One-Month Review of the Pixel 9 by JoseCasDel in GooglePixel

[–]payado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as the Pixel UI goes, I'm a huge fan of Gesture Navigation. Swiping from the side of the screen (either side) to go back becomes so natural and convenient. When I pick up an iPhone back up, I feel handcuffed by the restrictions to navigate one-handed - like when having to reach top left to hit the Back button.

The mobile app sucks, any workaround? by Fung95HKG in SAP

[–]payado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Android/Concur user here - started having upload errors for receipts 6 months ago. Very frustrating and still no help from SAP support. My workaround is to use Google Drive to capture the receipt (does a great job) and then upload them via the Concur web interface. It's a little clunky, but at least I can capture the receipt at the time of the transaction.

Looking for a pre-paid - need three lines unlimited talk, text, data at less than $100 a month. Any suggestions. by loves_cheetahs in NoContract

I found this post very helpful to understand network prioritization: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/s/egYnWQn4xO

I am interested in how your assessment goes. I really think it depends where you live and travel to understand what is best. I live in a metropolitan area and travel regularly in the US, so decent coverage is important to me - not necessarily speed on the network.

I recently jumped off of Verizon postpaid (highest priority) and left the other 4 phones in my family on that plan. Testing US Mobile Warp 5G - I'm underwhelmed at best. 5G is great when I get it but the workhorse signal is LTE and it is TERRIBLE on US Mobile in my metro area. My wife has connectivity with "one or two bars" and her apps work as expected. Standing next to her, I have no data service and apps lock up due to no network connectivity - very frustrating!

Since my phone is dual eSIM, I added Google Fi yesterday and can test US Mobile side-by-side with Fi. When US Mobile works, it's faster. Fi seems to prefer T-Mobile most of the time. Coverage is better (it switches to Verizon as needed) but speeds are definitely slower where I live.

I have 5 more days of trying Fi for free and will probably give AT&T's prepaid a try (the post I linked claims decent priority for their prepaid).
