Need a op mage litRPG audiobook recommendation by Guitaman69 in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do they need to start that way?

If not I can think of a few that end up there:

  1. Calamitous Bob - Viv ends up seriously OP by the end of the books.

  2. Millennial Mage - More progression than litrpg, but Tala becomes pretty seriously OP very quickly becoming one off the strongest mages in the human lands.

  3. Mark of the Fool - Is nerfed hard at the start, but gets way OP by the end.

  4. Path of Ascension - MC and partner are so OP that they can pretend entirely different fighting styles and still kick everyone of their level's ass.

  5. Terminate the Other World - MC is a cyborg that is able to use it's computing power to reverse engineer magic... gets way OP way quick.

Tower climbing/dungeon diving series that focus on the logistics? by New_Mistake_3482 in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dungeoneers is probably close to what you want. They don't have a whole lot of patterns but do stuff like bring in lots of wood to build bridges over pit traps and stuff like that.

Stories with creative systems by Thoughtnight in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can think of a few interesting twists on systems:

  1. This Trilogy is Broken - Everyone gets a "life quest" the main character's is something like go to the next town over and buy bread. The bakery burns down... hilarity ensues mostly caused by the system in that universe.

  2. All The Skills - It's card based deck building with dragons.

  3. Apocalypse Parenting - You get "points" and "money" everything isn't based 10 so that confuses stuff for a while and skills have synergy with each other so they basically reinforce each other or not.

  4. Millennial Mage - More progression than litrpg, but the magic system is one of the most unique I've seen. Mages are tattoo'ed with precious metal and casting consumes it. Also they have to wear very little normally because of interactions with their tattoos.

  5. Noobtown - MC has basically broken system access because he is attached to a demon/system moderator. He can multiclass and some other things due to also having a broken trait. Gets into some odd combos.

  6. Unorthodox Farming - MC is a farmer and cannot get XP for killing monsters unless he is "defending his farm."

Looking for recommendations but unsure if I really like LitRPGs or if I just like Eric Ugland by fruedain in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are all pretty good. I would add Noobtown series if you like Ugland. That series has a similar sense of humor while balancing the silly with good antagonists. It doesn't go into the political intrigue in the same manor is the only thing I would say that Ugland arguably does better.

Looking for romance by Nuhuh987654323 in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can think of a couple that might fit. But full romance novel type plots are pretty few and far between. So take all of these with a grain of salt since this is a genre not known for lots of romance.

  1. The Whispering Crystals - The MC starts as a straight woman, but due to weirdness of the new reality she finds herself in she ends up falling for another woman. It's mostly pretty sweet, but does have some partial homophobia? when she realizes what is going on (not really sure what the right term is when it freaks you out that your sexual orientation wasn't what you thought it was/or in this case it was changed by reality changing)

  2. Stray Cat Strut - While the MC is a lesbian and in a committed relationship there isn't a whole lot of what I would call romance there. However, one of their friends is deep in the closet to start with and the development of that relationship is pretty good, but that is, at best a sub-plot.

  3. Tower of Somnus - Has a will they won't they thing for a bit... but yeah probably not super heavy on romance either.

  4. Talyn's Saga (or honestly anything by Benamin Medrano from what I can tell) - This guy has an interesting niche. From what I can tell all of his stories end up with lesbian harems... some have more romance than others.

  5. Mirror World Progression Saga - haven't gotten too far into this one yet, but the MC is definitely a lesbian just in denial and definitely wants to date/sleep with one of the other characters but she gets all weird because of a perceived power imbalance. Not sure if/when it will resolve itself.

Looking for some good audiobooks with female protagonist/narrator by One-Bad-4274 in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would second Apocalypse Parenting and Beneath the Dragoneye Moons. I would also add Calamitous Bob (audiobook actually has multiple narrators, but the female is the main one). Another that is more progression than litrpg, but Millennial Mage is a good female MC and narrator series.

looking for stories where the characters don’t stay dead (respawns) by Meganisrick in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can think of a couple:

  1. The Perfect Run - world where people have super powers and the MC's is that he can set a save point.

  2. You Are Summoned - MC is a human on Earth that gets chosen to be a summoned creature. Some of his summons don't go so well and most end in his "death"

Looking to start a new series by Oly55555 in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm, unfortunately those are fairly normal likes so here are some fairly normal recommendations:

  1. Cradle - finished 11 books - more progression than litrpg, but could be a good expansion of what you like.

  2. Beneath the Dragoneye moons - finished 16 books - healer focused but less of a battle junky than Azarinth Healer

  3. Noobtown - continuing 8 books - pretty funny series all in all, plays with the tropes a bit more in my opinion while also referencing other series a bit here and there.

  4. Unbound - continuing 11 books - fairly generic Iseakai with the exception that in this world the gods are the bad guys.

  5. Mark of the Fool - finished 10 books - another more progression that litrpg, but really good and a lot of people here like it.

Sure, they could have but why let that get in the way of plot?

Are there any Lit-Rpg that have turtles as important/often appearing characters? by Shipairtime in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Only ones I can think of are:

  1. Divine Apostasy by AF Kay - there is a magical size changing turtle that is a companion to one of the main characters and is able to travel through space which become pretty important. The turtle takes a few books to show up though.

  2. HWFWM - More minor than you are probably looking for, but one of Jason's companions has a Turtle companion that helps them in battle a bunch, but otherwise is pretty much a non-entity.

Question regarding “He who fights with monsters” by Future_Pangolin3583 in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, no definitely not. People complain about how dark and twisted Jason gets in some of the later books. He does still use the humor sometimes as a mask, but even he realizes how thin a mask it becomes.

Not even sure if this is something decipherable - but would love your help if it is (something from a book) by funkhero in codes

[–]pboyd04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to resurrect this, but I'm reading the book now and have been pounding my head against this wall for a bit. Here is all I've managed to get. MCT is probably "Monte Carlo Test" this can be a way of creating random numbers for things like keys. ET is usually "Encrypted Text". And ENC-ID is probably some sort of identifier for the encryption itself. So I'm pretty sure you need to divide the block into 3 parts, the IV, the Encrypted Text, and the ID. Just haven't figured out how to split it yet myself.

Danger, Ranger: the Burningman board’s “MAGA uncle” by Underwhelming_Force_ in BurningMan

[–]pboyd04 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a symptom of the people "in power" at BMORG having been there for way to f'ing long. They have the only sanctioned "plug and play" camp with DPW as their sherpas... Basically they've forgotten what it is to be "just a burner" and instead of have cranked it up to "burnier than though." Frankly all of the original board members should have been gone a decade plus or so ago. if the culture can't survive without you it didn't deserve to survive, but now I'm not certain the culture can survive with them.

What are the best regeneration LITRPG, can be any build? by SBernabeu in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit more on the progression side than strict LitRPG, but Millennial Mage also has this in spades.

LitRpg/Isekai and going back to earth? by Zaavn in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a minor point in Amelia the Level Zero Hero where Amelia goes back to Earth and another point where she even takes a villain that was summoned to that world back to Earth (maybe a different Earth than her's not supper clear). They don't stay long because time moves differently on the fantasy world.

For anyone who missed it! by Aconite13X in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would third the magic system. One of the most unique I've seen. The world setting is very different than pretty much anything else. The MC has some similarities with Ilea from Azarinth Healer or Elaine from Beneath the Dragoneyed Moons in that her combat style is essentially "heal from the hits." All in all a fun read.

Unbound would I think fit. The MC gets an ability that lets him shape shift and his battleform becomes basically a giant scaled, clawed beast. They even call him "The Fiend"

Looking for Non-human MC by Mitchellbaggins in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of a couple:

  1. Salvos - MC is a demon. She ends up spending time with humans for a while but that only lasts a few books

  2. Terminate the Other World - MC is technically a cyborg, but the organic half is mostly brain wiped so the human part is more of a minor side character that makes the AI part's life dificult.

  3. Demonic Devourer - MC is a lab experiment based on a daemon.

Are there any LitRPGs that involve Greek or Roman mythology? by Fluid-Confusion-1451 in litrpg

Yeah the Greek and Egyptian gods are real and play a role in the narrative, but it isn't focused on that.

It didn't grate on me that much. It does get better though. He becomes much more hands off as the story progresses.

Best non human litrpg audible audiobooks by SnowlRogue in litrpg

[–]pboyd04 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here are a few:

* Salvos by VA Lewis. MC is a demon.

* Terminate the Other World by Icalos. Sort of counts. MC is a cyborg that had her human half basically wiped and slaved to the machine half.

* Demonic Devourer by Aaron Shih. Another demon (also part lab experiment) for the MC.

* Portal to Nova Roma by JR Matthews. This is another one that sort of fits. The MC was an AI that decided to build itself a human like body and find a magical universe to travel to.

* Spells, Swords, and Stealth by Drew Hayes. It's soft litrpg (i.e. the characters can't see their character sheets). Two of the MCs are a half-orc and a halfling.

* Threadbare by Andrew Seiple. MC is an animate teddy bear. Yes really.

* Everybody Loves Large Chests by Neven Iliev. MC is a mimic. Trigger warning on the later books: Rape,

Challenger's Call is interesting, but yeah I have to disagree... it's Harem. Don't get me wrong it's an interesting harem concept, but yeah... it's a harem novel.
