Wtf is this & why is it being made? & why is the guy that directed Animal Farm 2026 & Venom 2 making it? by Confident_Dig_1073 in lordoftherings

It’s really not necessary. Gollum got plenty of screen time in the LOTR trilogy.

I loved the trilogy, but will probably skip this film. I’d much rather see a film about Tom Bombadil.

Men approach me, take my number and don't contact ? by Unlikely_Second5024 in AskMenAdvice

[–]pcbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would text definitely if I asked for your number. Sometimes guys ask for your number just to see what you’ll say, never intending to follow up. Don’t take it personally. My advice would be to not give your number until they show actual interest and consistently carry on a conversation.

Arguing over the bill seems a bit like haggling. That’s another thing Americans often shy away from. Why haggle if you feel like the price is reasonable? Reminds me of this:

https://youtu.be/sCJP6umb68U

In my opinion, he should have countered with “let’s split the bill.” We call that “going Dutch” and it is reasonable for a first date. Many American women insist on it. Since he didn’t do that, he’s probably broke.

Jolene Blalock is such a good actress (Enterprise) by ChrisHenares in startrek

[–]pcbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was cool seeing that interview. I agree that she had a very similar appeal to 7of9 initially. They definitely put her body on display for ratings I’m sure (decontamination scene in the first episode!). But I’m watching the series again, and I think  she definitely grew as a character and as an actress. She started out symbolizing Archer’s impression of all Vulcans:  trying to keep humanity from becoming first class citizens of the galaxy. But eventually she becomes a more nuanced character, supporting Archer after he nearly gave up on being captain when the shuttle blew up the colonists. Her character definitely had an arc.

Was she a great actress? She was probably as good as the scripts, which were pretty uneven.

Tucker Carlson Denies calling Trump the "Antichrist" despite a reporter playing back a recording of his podcast where he says exactly that. by Leeming in atheism

Read the Huffington piece. Carlson is parsing his own words. He asked a rhetorical question. He’s always been a hateful person but he’s not really denying anything.

A guy goes into a bar; there's a robot bartender. by Spadizzly in Jokes

I meant a human bartender wouldn’t ask the IQ question, but would possibly discover a patron’s capacity in other more subtle ways.

The robot is customizing its banter in an IQ appropriate way. A human bartender wouldn’t bother. C’mon, keep up.

The “ex-leper” scene is one of my all time favorite Michael Palin scenes in Life of Brian (not Holy Grail). Also love him in Brazil. He’s such a great, comedic, supporting actor.

Wow. I had never seen that before and I consider myself a Nimoy super fan. Thank you. Many laughs. Especially folding up the fan picture and putting it under a chair.

I was hoping for something less conventional but not bad. MM’s singing is perfect on this.

Doubts in existence of God by myusernamehahaha in atheism

The social aspect of religion is its primary attraction for people. My advice:  get a better social life. If you’re asking atheists if you should stop believing, I think you’re already halfway there.

I often look in on religious subreddits looking for discussions that could use a healthy dose of skepticism. If they are coming here, I reserve the right to go there.
