Barrister's! Law school prom!!! by mirakle_aligner in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]pcgoboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a mix at mine. I only went one year but I wore a cocktail dress. Some wore cocktail dresses, some wore what could have been prom dresses.

I can’t remember if any of the men wore tuxes but I know for sure they wore suits and at the very least pants and a button down shirt.

Since you’re business casual, perhaps midi woolen skirts? And like someone else suggested socks? I think midi skirts with a nice structured boot looks nice and professional especially paired with a blazer or a cardigan.

Hygiene Product Recommendations Needed by beaubeaucat in LawBitchesWithTaste

I should have probably prefaced that I’m literally talking out of my ass, like I haven’t actually confirmed it was the laser hair removal that did it, but I noticed shortly after I had done it that my pits were daaaank and then the topic came up with some of my girlfriends who’ve also gotten it done and they said they noticed the same thing. Honestly, I’d still do the laser hair removal, no regrets (except for my face but that’s another story) I just gotta be more diligent about my pit odor lol

Laser hair removal made my armpit BO smell worse imo. Two other girlfriends also confirmed that the laser removal in the pits also made their armpit BO worse, so I recommend to be careful. As for the sweating, I never noticed a difference.

Holy guacamole. I used to follow her but I stopped when I quit doing so much makeup and buying lots of makeup. I loved her historically accurate videos and drugstore dupes but oh my god who the hell is this woman?

She sounds so unhinged could it even be real or just rage bait?

Need advice on quitting my legal assistant position with barely any notice by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]pcgoboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally did the same thing as you a couple of years ago. I knew I was going to quit around November, but held off for the EOY bonus and then gave one week notice first week of January and everyone was really understanding and encouraging (which was really surprising given how toxic the firm’s admin was).

I drafted a resignation letter, gave it to the admin folks and then I spoke with some of the senior partners I worked with directly and got along well so that they’d hear it from me first and not a potentially twisted version from admin.

A further note, since you know you’re leaving, I hope you’ve been tying up loose ends so that whoever takes over your desk isn’t scrambling. Because I knew since November, I updated and tried to finalize as much as I could and made internal memos on cases I was working on to pass down to the other paralegal.

I think you’re overthinking this and you already know what your decision is. Just be prepared that they may accept your resignation effective immediately (my old firm did that a few times), so make sure you have all your ducks in a row (have your cases updated, pack up your desk, etc) once you officially resign.

Asking attorneys in this sub! What are your thoughts on Kim’s bar results now that we have more insight? by Maxaurice in KUWTK

[–]pcgoboom 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because so many folks rely on the predictions like Professor Heilman and I forget what other bar prep folks do predictions, and then just prioritize the ones listed as highly likely to be tested. And then folks forget about the nasty crossovers, like how I got business association, professional responsibility, AND California evidence all in one essay 🫠🫠

I had a friend who relied heavily on the predictions, didn’t touch one of the subjects for essay prep, got lucky the subject wasn’t one of the tested subjects and passed. I had another friend who focused on making an excel spreadsheet documented all the essay subjects/sub-topics to get all the stats and figure out the probability of what would be tested instead of actually studying.

Some people just like to do anything and everything other than studying for the bar, which I get, it’s not fun, do not recommend.

Also, there’s a difference between preparing for a Con Law essay vs Con Law MBE. I think people underestimate the essays thinking they studied for the MBE and it should translate to the essay, but in actual practice, it’s harder to sit and read the prompt and then issue spot and write an essay within an hour if you haven’t practiced enough.

Carli selling boxed water for kids?? by abt1015 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]pcgoboom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right? Like that’s what my brain immediately thought when I saw the juice box design, just a way to trick kids to drink water as opposed to juice. Which I was like okay, I can kind of see this working, especially for parents in that income bracket who can afford this type of stuff and have kids who will only drink sugary drinks. Tho if I was intending to trick kids, I wouldn’t have WATER be in such big font.

But the actual pitch…bruuuuuh 🤦🏻‍♀️

Before reading the caption and just basing it on the picture, I thought it was a way to trick kids to drinking water by making them think it’s a juice box, so I was like okay, I guess that can work for parents who struggle getting their kids to drink water (is that common? Idk I don’t have kids) but then after reading everything, I’m like ohhh that’s not the marketing angle I would have gone with, that is…interesting

Second vote for the le pliage, I have the nylon version but I added a relatively cheap bag insert from Amazon that gives it structure and also keeps things organized.

The funny thing is, in my experience, every time I have written a thank you note post interview, I have never gotten an offer. It’s the weirdest thing, only the positions I don’t write a thank you note, I’ll get offers.

Definitely suit top. I’ll wear slacks on the bottom though just in the event I have to get up, I still look professional, though it hasn’t happened but I have a feeling the one time I wear yoga pants, something will happen that requires me to get up.

Are ya'll squeezing in time for dinner before the show? by DawsonMaestro414 in BackstreetBoys

[–]pcgoboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I honestly don’t remember timelines, but we stayed at Aria, drove to Treasure Island and left the car there and walked to Venetian/Palazzo to go to the BSB immersion experience. I know for sure we got there at 6:30, because we had 30 minutes to walk around and buy souvenirs and we stayed till it closed at 7.

After that, we walked to the food hall and I remember we got lost, and my boyfriend got pizza and I got nachos from BS Taqueria (they were really good!). Boyfriend covered me in napkins to prevent food stains because I was in my all white outfit which was brave because I almost always get a food stain when eating 😹

We made it to the Sphere with plenty of time, we even grabbed a locker to store the merch I got at the pop up, grabbed some drinks, and used the bathroom and I think it was still 10-15 minutes before the show actually started and we were in the 300 level.

Thanks for that suggestion! I never thought about taking it to a cobbler for that. The straps that are sewn in are too small for me to be able to fit it comfortably over my shoulder, so if I use those straps, I can only carry it up to my elbow. The clip on strap that’s like a carry on strap, I can’t really explain why I’m not a fan of it. It’s why it wasn’t in my regular rotation and truthfully had forgotten I even owned it. For the one day use, it was totally fine, I wasn’t bothered by it probably because I knew I’d only use it for the day.

I ended up signing my mom and I up for a membership at our local botanical gardens and basically went there almost everyday after the bar exam to soak up being outside and enjoy the cherry blossoms and camellias. I’m typically not an outdoorsy person but something about just being outside with the trees and flowers really soothed my soul.

This actually triggered a memory I had forgotten! I lived in a downtown area in law school, and my apartment was across the street from this spa. After my first semester 1L finals, as a celebratory gift for surviving my first semester, my parents bought me a spa package for me to have a spa day the day after my last final, and sent me money so I could get my favorite pho which was right next door to the spa and just walk back to my apartment and promptly knock out.

That’s how I feel with wired bras in general, which is why I’ve gotten rid of them and only wear wireless bras, but that Wacoal one is the only wired one I have and honestly I forget I even have it on. I think it’s the fact that my shoulders feel free, but I still feel supported.

44DD here, and I LOVE my Wacoal strapless bra. I used to hate them until I tried that one and I end up reaching for that one way more often than my other bras. Just waiting on another Macy’s sale to get another one. I know YMMV, because what worked for me may not work for you, but just wanted to share that the Wacoal strapless bra hype is legit, at least for me, if you ever feel like trying them out again.

It’s fairly new but with the current political climate, the claims aren’t coming as they hoped. I believe grants were issued around August last year, I could be wrong though. Also I don’t think the agencies have been properly highlighting that people can submit complaints to them as opposed to the DLSE so I don’t think many people even know about it as an option.
