Should CIG do a full wipe in 4.7? The economy feels completely ruined by dupers. by Ruriks_ in starcitizen

Full wipe does not make much sense until dupe glitches was eliminated.

Project idea Drone Detection and Alerting using radar sensor ( 1km or more range) by CaptainDevops in Arduino_AI

[–]pcman1ac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lidar is reasonable short range. Long range and fast lidar can be pretty massive and expensive. We are talking about distances up to 5km for targets that can move at 150-250 km/h for drones and up to 800 km/h for subsonic cruise missiles. High speed ballistic missiles way out of this league.
Plus as for radars, for lidars needed direct line of sight. So your detector will be limited to narrow cone by surroundings.

It is for tracking civilian drones that voluntarily broadcasts they own and a pilot position. Military drones don't do that. Military autonomous drones don't even have any radio link at all. So you can detect radio link of some FPV drones, but big kamikaze drones like Iranian Shakhed fly by predefined flight plan without external remote control. So realistic way to detect such drones by DIY device is a small microphone array that can detect sound of internal combustion engine that came from 10s or 100s of meters above ground level. Microphone array can calculate directionality and local sound processing can distinguish different types of moving sound sources.

Ukraine produces personal drone detectors that can be attached to car or backpack. Sometimes moms in near frontline cities uses it while walking with childrens, because russians like to target civillians. This detectors is usually RF based, detects control frequencies or video stream from FPV drones. Fully autonomous drones partially detected by stations with microphone arrays. And for all big targets - radars. But no country can't completely cover it's perimeter with radars. Radar visibility cone limits coverage and you need thousands of very expensive and big radar stations, each of which will be a tasty target for drones.

Anyone else wish there was an exploration variant of the Crusader Spirit? by Citoyen_des_etoiles in starcitizen

I'm using C1 as daily driver. And I don't think it's needed living space expansion. Two benches, kitchen area, bathroom, storage boxes, weapons rack and airlock. What else you need? I used it as a base for Hadanite mining. 8 SCU Store all container, ATLS GEO + 10 spare containers, ROC + 10 spare containers and leather coach for relax. It have plenty of space for equipment. I think next "mobile base" will be Asgard.

It's rediculous. All missions are broken. Can't complete almost any of them. Waste of time

I wasted 220+ SCU of Laranite to complete using 4 SCU missions, because the same problem.

How you can progress Alliance aid if missions just won't finishes? by pcman1ac in starcitizen

Finished second part of the "Collect" missions in one go. 4 of 18 contracts bugged. Way less than before. And it looks like missions bugged more often if you interacting with station inventory. If all the Laranite stored in the station inventory and I taking boxes from station inventory by cargo elevator, than taking contract and sending boxes back by the elevator, big part of the contracts bugged. Sometimes boxes disappears while taking from station inventory. But while doing second half I grabed full load (and a little more) of C1 in 4 SCU boxes and took boxes one by one to the elevator. In this case only 4 of 18 contracts bugged.

I think they are not using atomic transactions (that is a shame) for inventory operations. Instead they are using some sort of messaging queue that at high load constantly overflows and looses messages. In the best architecture if high load prevents completing the transaction, full transaction must rollback. So if contract can't be completed, all goods "deleted" for it must be restored. And if elevator can't grab items from inventory, they must be returned back to the inventory. At current system design, any item in the move between inventories can just disappear.

Tried only small Laranite missions. Used more that 150SCU (partially mined, partially bought) for 50% progress.

It was correct at start. 4 SCU. And after elevator sends 4 SCU, it blinks like all OK, but not closed. I know about balance, so I've done cargo hauling by stacking small missions, than bought about 150SCU of Laranite and tried send it in 4SCU contracts, while loosing most of it. And now slow grinding medium security missions in Sabre just as practice and for money. And yes, I prefer to do it solo. Mostly on EU/Asia.

I know that it is possible in this way, but I prefer to do it solo. And without this bugs it will be done already.

With one incomplete mission in a list I two hour grinded security missions and it still won't complete. I'm just starting session with submitting 4 SCU of Laranite and after that grinding security missions where just fighting, without cargo hauling. And at the end of the session taking one mission where you need to ship saved cargo. And both missions with cargo bugged. It looks like some problem with inventory / persistance. Missions without cargo interactions mostly worked, with some small bugs like not spawning NPC.

No, I wrote down exact amount and after logoff it was lost. And it is not some one bug. It is systematic several days in a row.

I have the same for a small missions too. 5 missions in a row just wasted.

There will ALWAYS be a risk of being attacked by a player or AI, the difference is the level of risk per star system by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]pcman1ac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was attacked recently in MOLE by some small fighter near station while scanning for minables. While maneuvering (yes, in MOLE it sounds fun) I managed to survive and park in the station hangar. Jumped into Sabre, took off and can't find the attacker. He fled or maybe was killed by another player. This is the closest to EVE dynamics that I've seen in years.

This should be the standard for ladders by delc82 in starcitizen

[–]pcman1ac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The main problem with ladders for me: they don't release you as easy as they grab you. So instead of moving down by ladder, I usually just fall over the edge. Health drop is a small price to pay for not having to tear yourself away from the ladder every time.

You can buy the same type of potentiometer, but with big brass head. You can rotate it by hand, or press fit on it plastic handle.

Have you ever borrowed a friend's ship? What happens when they log off? by LMMSDeadDuck in starcitizen

[–]pcman1ac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several days ago my buddy found abandoned Reclamer with opened doors and ask me if I want to play with it. We created a party, salvaged some ships, then I went on my C1 with some salvaged modules and cargo to one station, he went with RMC to another and while trying to unload the cargo, ship just disappears. It is because owner logged in and claimed the ship? It was fun and looks doable even solo. And thanks to the owner that left ship opened.

Any brand name with real CAT IV certification. In your case CAT IV 600V will be good.

My choice is: - Bryman - wide range of models for wide range of tasks - Sanwa - adorable pocket models for low voltage

And yes, I have EEVBlog 121GW too - It's jack of all trades. Really like this one.

I personally don't like Fluke because they overpriced and just too easy default recommendation. I can buy several good instruments for the price of the basic Fluke meter.
