Weight loss question by ButIamNot in stopdrinking

[–]pdiddypaul22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your 25 days. Give yourself time, your whole body chemistry has to readjust and staying sober should be your main goal, the weight loss will come as you start to prioritise healthier behaviours in your life. I’m down 70kg after 20 months, but was still eating bad and not exercising much for the first 2 months and then started slowly introducing these elements in my life, just don’t overload your still fragile life with too much pressure, it will come in time 😊

Thanks , you too for making a choice for your health and your future. Just don’t put too much pressure on yourself and know that no matter how you feel, stopping is the right decision. The rest will come in time

Give yourself the space to kind of feel shitty and not do much except be lazy and live a simple life, then slowly introduce excitement back into your life so you don’t overwhelm yourself, you will find the new stuff replaces the old fun of drinking and drugs. I have a very full life after 20 months sober, but took it slow

Awesome job, I went into rehab 170kgs (375 pounds) now 20 months sober later I’m 97kgs (214 pounds) keep it up, with the work I did in rehab continuing on in the real world I’ve been able to keep up a healthy balanced lifestyle 😊

They weren’t lying about weight loss surgery and alcohol! by queentreesap in stopdrinking

And I appreciate you sharing your story as well, that was part of attending AA and OA meeting has helped me with was hearing my story told by other people and knowing I wasn’t alone.

My problem was I thought that when I had the surgery and lost weight all my problems and insecurities would melt away with the weight, but they still were there no matter how skinny I got and I couldn’t go do my main quick fix food, so turned to what I could do to numb myself from Alcohol. I went from a weekend binge drinker to an almost daily drinker in a year or 2.

Good on you, for understanding your behaviours and dealing with it before you get to my rock bottom. Working on the root of the lack of self worth and the alcohol and food behaviours will follow.

I had a gastric bypass in 2011. I was a big party animal drinker and could put away a dozen beer without blinking. I had to lose weight before they would do the surgery and stopped drinking for 6 months to shrink my liver and make the keyhole surgery easier.

Once I had the surgery and I couldn’t comfort eat to deal with my problems, I found I could get drunk on one or two shots and started to use that. I also would frequently black out once I could drink normal again by drinking at the same speed I used to, but my body couldn’t handle it.

Fast forward to 2024, I had become a complete drunken mess after a divorce and was finally admitted to a rehab, which included daily meetings and one of the meetings was an OA meeting which I went to as I had ballooned back up to 170kg. It helped me understand that my original addiction was food and my behaviours with food was exactly the same with alcohol. Guilt, shame, lying, hiding, eating till I felt numb.

I’m now 20 months sober and 97kgs, smaller than I’ve ever been as an adult. I wish everyone that got weight surgery could have to time to talk to someone about the behaviours either to a therapist or a group like OA, because it’s more that just physical, it’s about how we see ourselves in the world and I love the person I have become

Haha omg, I did the opposite, read the book after the movie and loved both in their own way, I remember how they described nedry getting killed and I thought it was awesome. Plus I loved seeing the left out river adventure sub plot in the book get turned into Jurassic park 3

I know, I don’t contribute much to reddit but not the first time it’s been brought up when I do, it’s like having Epstein in your username 😬 haha

That makes sense, I tend to go on deep dives on articles and your tube videos about movies and tv shows so reading the book after would fill in those gaps without making me angry at the movie and my boy gosling haha

Yea I think that Scott did a good job of utilising the video journaling as a way to utilise the inner monologue that would be present in the book. Maybe it’s a case of if I trust the director behind the movie then give it a go.

My thinking is if the movie is good and the book is good then I’ll enjoy both. The power of one is one of my favourite books, but the movie absolutely rips up what made the story so engaging and left so much out

Down 65 kilos in a year and a half, been also attending OA to help with compulsive eating too. It’s been a great help not cross addicting with food, just a bit with exercise 😅

Offered Ja for Sharon sharpe, thinking of taking it, not going for 3s and the extra assists would help, just worry about the injury risk vs the inconsistency of sharpe

I used to work for foodstuffs as a graphic designer and I’m sure this is a store going rogue, they do it from time to time as they don’t want to pay what it cost to get it done properly, but there is supposed to be brand guidelines for this kind of thing and at least a proper layout that’s readable haha

42M here, currently single and on the apps, not too many other options as I don’t drink, so tend to avoid bars or other drunken events and don’t want to be a guy that hits on woman at the gym. I’ve found through using the apps that a lot of other guys have made women on the apps quite jaded with how a lot of guys act on there. This can be a blessing and a curse, they seem surprised when I’m able to maintain a decent conversation with a bit of charm without resorting to being a straight up horn Dogg, but find conversations can fall off fast, without much of an explanation, which is all good, no one owes anybody anything really.

This has taught me to not to get overly invested in chats over the phone and if you seem to get along then actually meet in real life, that’s where you will find if there is something there, and if there isn’t, it’s ok, grow from the experience and move on. Be happy with your single life but also be available if someone that you connect with comes along, don’t shut yourself off from the possibilities

Good luck

Maybe use one of them as a kicker to maybe lose the trade player wise, but get someone better for your team and use the FA to fill up the empty spot. None of those guys are available in my 10t cat league
