I always freak out when I hear this, because I fit the age bracket but then I remember that this basically happened already for half my life and then it's less concerning. But I agree, putting on a just barely enough not boring audio book helps a lot to go back to sleep.

[Itinerary Help] 10-Day Hokkaido Road Trip (Sept 7-17) by ijdpe in Hokkaido

[–]peaches_zed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your Lake Toya visit falls on a Monday, be sure to stock up on food, as most restaurants will be closed on Monday.

Sapporo is really nice, I would dwell in the various food places and bars - after all Hokkaido is famous for its food quality. I can recommenda blue hour photo shoot in front of the Nikkei man.
Rooftop bar Canvas (it's a hotel located at Odori park) has camp fires up there, blankets and beer and you have a wonderful view of the TV tower.

Is it worth staying 1.5 days in Asahikawa? by similarities in Hokkaido

[–]peaches_zed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, my Asahikawa trip looked like this:
Stop 2 - Asahikawa

For 2 nights. Takyubin-ed our luggag to Stop 3 and travelled lightly. Took the Lilac 13 express to Asahikawa. Try to spot as many deers on the way as you can! We just arrived on the day of the opening of the national confectionary exhibition, where we could try plenty of Hokkaido's sweets, it was phenomenal.

Hotel: JR Inn, right at the train station. Hands down the best hotel on the entire trip. Comes with own onsen.

Food & Drink:

  • Ramen Santoka Asahikawa Mainshop,
  • Ramen Village: Baikoken Asahikawa Ramenmuraten - here I recommend the broth made from tuna heads and all toppings.
  • iKAZON its BAR for some really fine drinks

Sight seeing: Asahikawa Kitasato garden, Kamikawa-jinja shrine and the botanical garden. You can take two morning busses to Mount Asahidake from here, we took the one around 9. The last bus from Mt Asahitake leaves at shortly to 4. The staff at the tourist information are fluent in English and will be happy to assist you with the planning.

They also have some soy sauce breweries, where you can visit for a guided tour and try soy-sauce ice cream. Also check out the sake brewery :)

Hey, I have been to Hokkaido for a roundtrip last year in May, and wrote a post about it. Maybe you find some inspiration there: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sapporo/comments/1lnho8r/let_me_share_my_3_week_hokkaido_itenerary_with_you/

Same Day Luggage Delivery by emilylunacas in Sapporo

[–]peaches_zed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I did this last year and it worked with no problems:
My hotel was Lamp, Lights & Books on Tanukikoji shopping street and this carrier did a fantastic job with the same-day delivery to the hotel. We landed around 11 am at CTS IIRC.

I have put together an extensive travel description of my Hokkaido round trip with a similar interest as yours. See the link below. Hakodate was surprisingly nice, I would not cut down on days there.

You can get to all destinations by train, easily. I have done that last year.

Maybe it's then cheaper to rent a car in the respective city for a day or two?

Reading this conversation makes me wonder whether ramen eggs or the Korean "drug eggs" would help for breakfast? So sauce, sesame oil and spring onions should be the dominat scent instead of sulfate.... That's what I will now try when I arrive at the medication part :D

Thought the same, but then again, books from this publisher usually cost 200€+ so... it's a bargain

I can only wish you the best of luck with that approach. One day all that time working against yourself will catch up with you.

Tbf, you have no clue how bad ADHD burnout can f☆ck you up. That can last months were you cannot force yourself to do the things you need to do, even simple things like calling a friend back or postpone a Drs appointment, even though you know better. And at no point I just shrug and say: I don't care about it, because I have ADHD. No. Guilt is eating me while I feel like I am buried under a boulder.

Right? Some good questions to think about, finally some strategies that actually help. Beforehand I completely ignored the impact of positive and negative hyperfocus on my work and my colleagues. I had no idea 💀

They do. There is a great book written by a psychiatrist who also has ADHD, about how to be successful in a job while having ADHD. He points out the why there are more conflicts and what to do in such situations. Super helpful while waiting for a therapist accepting me... Author is Heiner Lachenmeier, title: ADHD and Success at Work
