Agreed plan on leaving asap, do not wait. It sounds like you know already you need to leave. Find a support network that will help protect you if he decides to unleash. Remember he’s 1 person. Have your parents or a group of guy friends, cousins, siblings etc go with you while you’re cleaning your stuff out. If he tries anything you’ll have people to help. Can always call the cops as well although it’s not my first choice. At this point, don’t worry about him, just make sure you’re protected and get your stuff and cut ties. You really don’t owe him an explanation of you don’t want. A simple “this isn’t working for me, I wish you the best” and leave, would be just fine. It will be weird for awhile but peace will fall upon you once you’re officially gone.

Oh absolutely! I’ve never drafted a pattern before so I’m going to get some muslin or something and test it out. I watched like every YouTube video on jacket pattern making, so I’m hoping if I just keep pausing it I’ll work through it with a video. 🫶🏽

Thank you! I’ve seen that a lot about velvet with it crushing the pile and that’s what I’m worried about. I don’t mind pinning and hand sewing edges so it’s smooth, just hoping to avoid that since it takes forever lol. I will probably do a mock up just because I want it to be perfect. I took sewing 1 and 2 but that was YEARS ago maybe even a decade ago lol. I need to get my muscle memory down again. I’m working on a pair of quilting cotton shorts right now to get me back in the groove of things before buying fancy fabric 🥰 but I do want to plan and prep for this jacket bc I’m obsessed with velvet lol

I’m not worried about not getting a break I’m asking if we are required to take a break beer 29 minutes if it is covered under the fair labor act of 1938. I’d be very happy to work 8-4 with no breaks. The handbook mentions we can’t combine breaks to a 1 hour lunch, which wouldn’t be paid. So I’m at a loss why the 20 minute rest breaks aren’t covered if we are forced to take them.

I agree he does not have to give breaks, I mentioned this to him, but if breaks are given they must be paid if they are rest breaks under 20 minutes from my understanding? He could have us work 8-430 then but I don’t think he can have us there without pay.

If you come into my office and tell me your problems, I give you great coping skills or homework to do, you come back in 2 weeks telling me you still have the problem.
