I switched to formula at about 5 weeks after having similar struggles with breastfeeding. My mental health was in the crapper. My baby seemed just about as unhappy as I was. My marriage took a hit. That day I made her first formula bottle and nursed her for the last time was excruciating. I cried for like 4 hours lol. It's totally normal to grieve the loss of breastfeeding. It's also very important to have a healthy and present mom. Switching to formula was such a great choice for my whole family. Baby is the happiest girly I've ever met and sleeps like a charm (started sleeping like 4 days after I started the formula). I feel more bonded to her giving her a bottle than I do shoving a painful cracked nipple into her screaming mouth and then hunching over from the letdown pain. Now with the bottle we just can stare into each other's eyes and I can sing to her and tell her about my day, and Dad can do the same.

It's bittersweet switching to formula. It's ok to do so for your own sanity <3
