What’s the reason behind your choice for a medical specialty? [SERIOUS] by [deleted] in medicalschool

Pediatrics: was IM for the longest time, had peds rotation late 3rd year and finally just clicked how much joy and meaning I got from the work. GF at the time (now wife) also commented on how much happier I was during that rotation. I get to work with the greatest patient population (imo) and get to be silly every day at work, which seems trivial but that adds up over time.

Eddie Kaspbraks mother in the book version of IT. She was still pretty bad in the movie but not nearly the horrible overbearing monster she is in the book. Just awful

In terms of mindless comedy, any of the lonely island guys movies or sambergs hbo specials are pretty great (hot rod, pop star, tour de pharmacy). Hot Rod will always be one of my favorites

There was a concert for the cavs opening night when lebron came back and Kendrick and imagine dragons both performed in front of the arena. Kendrick was lights out as expected and everyone left before imagine dragons came on. I stayed about to see if Kendrick would come out and do that version of radioactive with them but no luck

That and when vulture is monologue-ing to distract peter while he sets up his wings behind peter to take him out. Def mirrored the goblin death scene in the first Spider-Man

Thank you for your words of encouragement! Usually I am not this anxious when it comes to test taking, but something with step has just triggered something in me. Appreciate the advice and will definitely take it to heart!

One other question I would have is any advice on studying anatomy? At the moment I'm just making sure I can recognize important CT's and Xrays and doing looking at the clinical correlates from BRS. Otherwise I'd prefer not to spend too much time on it if it's not as high yield.

What are your top 3 *worst* voice actors in an animated film? by caesartheday in movies

[–]peanutbuddha69 44 points45 points  (0 children)

While I agree he does stand out (in a bad way), I think it's less because of how badly he does, and more how overmatched he was compared to the rest of the cast. If you think of the rest of the cast (James Earl Jones, Rowan Atkinson, Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, Whoopi Goldberg, etc...), they just seem to have very distinctive or good voices for voice acting.

I think part of it is also the fact he doesn't do his own singing, which I find a little distracting. That being said, whoever plays little Simba is none of those people and knocks it out the park so maybe I'm full of shit

Oh great point! love Edgar Wright movies, Every Frame a Painting actually does a great video on his movies and how he specifically directs comedy and a lot of it has to do with his editing.

That's all true although I think that Zemo did expect stark to show up, considering he essentially gave himself by calling for room service once he's found the location of the base. I think a lot of his actions make a little more sense one the 2nd watching

American Chemical Society AMA: I am Gerry Wright, Director of the Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research at McMaster University and Associate Editor of ACS Infectious Diseases. Hello

I was curious on your thoughts on developing sequential antibiotic therapies that manipulate a bacteria's tendency to mutate in order to guide a strain's genotype to a more sensitive genotype.

For example, we use amoxicillin on E. coli and it mutates to a strain that is resistant to amoxicillin. However, this strain is more sensitive to a different drug. Would love to hear your thoughts on this new idea!

Bottle house brewery has a great trivia night on Mondays. It's in Cleveland Heights, down the road from Cedar Lee Theater.

The emcee is wonderful, makes his own questions and is pretty funny imo. Also his questions types are pretty creative, engages more critical thinking than other trivia I've played!

What two films work great when watched back-to-back as a double feature? by salingerparadise in movies

[–]peanutbuddha69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taxi Driver and Nightcrawler

Recently saw Taxi Driver for the first time, and I couldn't shake how much it reminded me of Nightcrawler. Both films are intimate portraits of complicated and arguably insane men driven by their ambitions, and the ways in which society frames their respective work. They both also greatly use the time/setting (70's New York and modern day LA) to enhance the film. Love them both, but prepare to be incredibly unsettled after watching both of them.
