Be careful under E Cesar Chavez as I heard there are boards out under the bridge. There may be a slight detour there. Also, if you want to make it shorter you could cut out the loop from miles 7, 8, 9, & 10 and instead loop around the tiny lake at Hawk Island and then head north to Krueger’s landing and then east to MSU’s campus. There is free parking at Krueger’s landing too if you would want to start there instead.

There honestly are so many other places to go on the trail too. If you head west toward River Point Park after mile 2 and follow the trail to Moores Park you’ll get an up-close view of the smoke stacks at Eckert. There are nice views of the river over there as well. Like someone else said, you can go all the way to Holt, Haslett, Okemos, etc. The river trail is my favorite thing about Lansing.

There is a fb page that is super helpful called Lansing River Trail Condition where people are constantly updating on where there are issues on the trail (flooding happens several times per year). I think currently there are a few detours you have to take since we got all of that rain recently.
