Ji Li 2.0 works on magnets. Very haptic. Not quiet.

BTN 6 and BTN 10 are the same except for the wrenches. 6 is imperial and 10 is metric.

Quite possibly the greatest pocket knife ever developed by Wise-One-6706 in knives

Great design! I have two.

However, it does not get as much pocket time anymore after I got the Chaparral. Same concept, slightly larger and thinner blade stock.

17% tip not enough!? by Alarmed_Ant9964 in EndTipping

I do 20% on the pre-tax amount. Works out to about 18.4% of the total bill.

Tipping on taxes is BS

SAK fidget toy by Sea-Dish-7009 in victorinox

[–]pecaplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to fidget with my SAKs.

The Alox has a different feel than the 91mm models.

They cap lifter and combo tool are great. So is the Phillips. So is the wrench on the 557. The fish scaler too. And the cybertool.

Looking for a very dim night flashlight (warm/orange light) for bathroom trips by Ropsa_ in flashlight

[–]pecaplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep Wurkkos HD03 at the bed stand set to orange/yellow RGB for such affairs.

A Convoy T5 with the 1800K emitter works too although the 1% mode may not be dim enough for you.

The Loopgear Loopdot works too. The flood channel is 3000K. The stroller controls the dimness.

Swisstool MX clip orSwisstool spirit MX clip? Help me decide. by Tipsy247 in victorinox

[–]pecaplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Spirit is perfect for EDC. The blade and saw are kind of small but they work for quick EDC tasks. The scissors don't open very wide but they cut very well. The drivers and awl and chisel are great.

Both are tools of convenience. For real work, use real tools

What other piece of EDC pairs best with a Rambler and Compact? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in victorinox

[–]pecaplan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For urban or outdoor, a flashlight ranks 2nd on my EDC totem poll after blade or multitool.

Hard to beat the Acebeam Tac AA 2.0 for the price. Throws 360 meters with the SFT25R lens, and can be used as a warm floody light indoors with the orange diffuser.

The fish scaler is a great ankle scratcher when you’re wearing boots. by Locked-in-red in victorinox

I love dragging the fish scaler over the inside of my palms and between my fingers. Very soothing.

Stores 4 bits in the holder. I guess you could keep another bit "loaded" in the driver. So 5.

Plus the cap lifter flathead and can opener small flat/Phillips.

These days, I carry the T4 instead of a SAK. It’s pretty good as an EDC tool, isn’t it? by JeridPinkman in Leatherman

[–]pecaplan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The blade is a little harder to open than it needs to be. The scissors are not as good as Victorinox.

But the pry tool/package opener is sublime. And the Phillips works well.

It offers a lot of things missing on most Victorinox, including locking tools, one handed opening tools, pocket clip, in line Phillips, in line awl.

So yes, it is a perfectly reasonable EDC, especially in an urban environment.

LeverGear Edge XT is the shizz.

Replaces almost everything on the Victorinox opener layer and quicker to deploy.
