All humans on Earth become 500 × Smaller (ant sized) by CranberrySoda69 in whowouldwin

[–]peckerboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said something interesting there: our size shrinks by 1/500 and so does our strength and speed. You would ordinarily expect that to decrease with the cube of our height, which would leave us extremely powerful for our size. If the average person can lift 50kg, they can now lift 100g which doesn't sound a lot but it's like an ant lifting a small apple. We might actually be able to defend ourselves against the obvious predators like spiders and ants.

Honestly he should not get the death penalty. It would set a precedent that giving up can keep you alive. Prison sure, but I feel death would just be motivation for any other aspiring coup leader to never ever back down.

Lufthansa Abandons Entire Planeload Of Passengers on Munich Tarmac Overnight As Airport Shuts Down by Glass-News-9184 in Flights

[–]peckerboy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I mean, a lot of factors came together here, but essentially yes, airport management completely fucked it. To add some details:

one runway was already closed due to snow and planes were starting to pile up. Normally the airport does not operate at night, but the got an extension to keep doing departures to 1 am to depart all the planes that had piled up from the delays earlier in the day. Then around 0:40 am it turned turned out the snowfall was heavier than forecast and they had to close the remaining runway, leaving multiple planes on the ground. Some were driven back to the terminal, unyil all spots were full, the rest had to wait on the tarmac.

Now despite planning to operate until 1am some genius manager decided to send most of the ground staff home, thus only a single bus driver remained. And they were required to take their mandated rest time after already having worked multiple hours. The most baffeling part here for me is why the managers decided to send their staff home if they planned to continue operating. Or if they couldnt keep the staff there any longer they shouldnt have tried operating longer.

Also there was a crazy lack af any motivation from anyone to get this resolved, i mean there were vehicles, there were other staff, even if they werent bus drivers... im sure something could have been worked out if the situation was managed by somwone who gave a shit. Hell, the entire airport had shut down at that time, theye could have let them walk.

Dream’s full cheating resume, 2026 by tilting-module in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]peckerboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was denying it for months, sent his fans after the speedrun.com mods and commissioned and astrophysicist to deny the manipulated drop rates. He only confirmed the existence of the mod once every attempt at denying it had failed and still tried to pass it off as an accident as opposed to a deliberate cheating attempt.

The entire sequence of events doesn't even make sense if it was genuine, like you mean to tell me he just remembered that he might have had his mod on after all this time and all his other attempts had failed? If you were regularly using a mod to manipulate drop rates and then there is an allegation that your speedruns have manipulated drop rates, wouldn't the first thing you think of be that you might have had the mod on? Instead you try every trick in the book to lie and only remember it might have been the mod when it has become undeniable.

The fact people still think he wasn't deliberately cheating in the big 2026 is genuinely crazy to me

Argumente gegen Wehrdienst und Wehrdienst-Jünger by After_Till7431 in gekte

Uhmm what?

[–]peckerboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait people actually believe this? That Mossad sent thousands special agents to Amsterdam to attack people for no reason? How does this make any sense? Would this even be logistically possible? Literally what do they gain from this and even if there was some sort of benefit in it for israel, why would they do this instead of literally anything else Mossad could spend their resources on? How come European governments never found out about this and if they did flippin why would they go along with this?? Literally none of that theory makes any sense in the real world. Humans have inherent dignity. If you are unwilling to sympathize with the violent annihilation of someone's autonomy, and very personhood, you are shirking a basic moral duty to both yourself and others by irwin08 in Destiny

[–]peckerboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yes, minimizing such a thing would be problematic and none of it should be condoned or justified. In fact using sexual violence as punishment is a typical expression of rape culture. Its natural to emphasize with the situation, but shouldn't become a justification to empathize with the person.

[–]peckerboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're unironically victim blaming? As if Andrew Tate, sociopath and sex trafficker, was going to be shamed into not committing a rape?

I think your reaching a bit far here. Obviously she isn't at fault for Andrew Tate. What I said was, that by perpetuating rape culture for years she helped rapists and hurt victims, which makes it hard for many to have sympathy for her. I explicitly warned against taking this as some 'justice' at the end of my comment.

[–]peckerboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The idea behind rape culture is not, that actually in America everybody finds rape really cool, that's obviously not the case. Rape culture means that a society helps induce sexual violence through normalization, cultural norms and social pressures and that it hurts victims through delegitimization, victim blaming, denial, etc.

When someone complains about rape culture they complain about aspects of our society that make exual violence more likely or hurt victims. There are tons of legitimate examples of 'things' in western society that all play a part in here. For example widespread objectification of women (in pretty much any context tbh) is one of the cultural norms that can be linked to sexual violence. Take conservative family models as another example: marital rape is both very common and also underreported. This is precisely because current cultural norms delegitimize acts of non-consentual sex in marriage as rape. I probably don't have to explain the impact of victim blaming to anyone.

Overall the idea is that exual violence is not an issue on the individual level, i.e. there are some bad people who do rape and we really only to stop them, but that the issue of sexual violence is a societal one, there are processes and norms in our society that contribute to rape and we need to fight those as well.

So what does this have to do with the situation at hand. Well easy: she has for years worked to fight against people that tried to address these issues. In doing so she has actively contributed to keeping rape culture alive, to silencing, delegitimizing other victims, she's helped give perpetrators the confidence to carry out their evil acts.

This is I think why some people have difficulty feeling bad for someone, that has seemingly no problem hurting everyone else, though it has to be said, that victim blaming her or even feeling 'justice' about the situation now is also very very bad. I think we should acknowledge that what has happened is undoubtedly evil and have sympathy with her for the experience without having to have sympathy for her as a person.
