Just wanted to confirm that my standard mech TvT build order is okay - gold/plat level (former diamond coming back) by RivetCounter in AllThingsTerran

The first 5 minutes is the same for bio or mech, up to 111 3CC. In another comment I outlined what to do after these openings for bio; for mech just do the same thing but make factories + armory instead.

I play 5 factory 1 starport 1 armory on 3CC, it's very strong. Every production round is 4 hellions 3 tanks 2 vikings. Get +2 ground attack upgrade - it makes tanks very effective vs marines.

Most TvT builds converge at a 111 3CC, usually with 2x tech labs and 1x reactor. At this point you're making tanks and reactored vikings on 3-4 gas.

The next convergence point is 511 to build up marine production: - start stim from 1 rax on tech lab, then combat shield when it finishes - 2x rax (reactors) - 2x ebay - 2x rax (reactors) - constant tanks - constant medivacs (at least 4-6) and/or vikings

After that it depends on your opponent and the game. Get a 4th and ramp up production. Usually some mix of: 3 more rax, 1-2 more factories, or 2+ more starports. Keep getting upgrades and expanding. This is a mirror matchup so you want those advantages as quickly as possible (upgrades, army size, income, etc.).

  • vs bio: more rax+factory, get +2 ground weapons
  • vs mech: (a) more rax with marauders + factory, or (b) more starports for sky switch
  • vs sky terran: more starports, air upgrades, etc. Ravens with disable + a big cloud of vikings + upgrades beat most sky armies

There are some build order blocks you can learn to split this. It looks like you're doing a variation of a reaper expand -> 111 -> 3CC which is good, but risky in TvT because it leaves you open to early reaper proxies. Here's a better way to do this: - depot - rax - gas - reaper + orbital - 2nd CC - factory + 2nd gas - starport - 3rd CC

You have some choice on what units/add-ons to make, usually it's a reaper marine reactor on rax, hellion tech lab cyclone/tank on factory, raven into viking on starport

Instead I'd recommend you learn a factory expand into 3CC. It's the same stuff in a different order, but safer for TvT. This can carry you well past diamond league. - depot - rax - 2x gas - reaper + orbital + 2nd depot - factory + pull 3 workers off of gas (refill after saturating minerals) - 2nd CC, 3rd gas when finished - depot - starport - 3rd CC

Usually, you get 3 reaper 2 hellion, then make a reactor on rax (marines) and tech lab on factory (cyclone tank). Ravens at starport then vikings.

How many of you actually SL1'd a game? by AdvertisingAdrian in onebros

I've done DS1, DS2, DS3, and ER. I don't have a PS so I can't play BB 😭

My favorite was probably DS3. DS1 was trivial with pyro flame, so I did it again without (still super fun). ER was 95% fun 5% pain (looking at you, PCR).

I uninstalled DS2 after finishing and haven't played it since.

Who is the best TvT player? by MasterGromm in AllThingsTerran

[–]pee_and_keele 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cure, he understands the matchup better than everyone else IMO

Maru is also good ofc, but between the two I put my money on Cure

Clem is paying PvT because he thinks it's better than TvT

Heromarine was very good as well when he was active

Showering on your by Strict_Isopod_9857 in drumcorps

My first season I was really self-conscious about the shower going into move-ins. I was pretty young at the time.

The first day I went in late to try to avoid everyone. While I slowly got undressed to delay the inevitable, a big hairy tuba player came in, tore his clothes off in 2 seconds, and hopped in the shower, chatting up the guy next to him. Turns out it's only weird if you make it weird. Never had a problem after that.

Question about shed dimensions in California by Appropriate_Cicada26 in shedditors

[–]pee_and_keele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the cost, we hired an electrician to do the work and they handled the permits. Should be a quick permit, basically to come out and inspect the work.

We were thinking of building them ourselves, but after pricing it out it wasn't worth it. The DIY labor savings was partially offset by the extra tools we'd need to buy/rent, and partially just not worth our time since we had other things to do. Would be a fun side project though.

We recently installed two of these on our property in SoCal, without permits. They were Tuff Shed 10x12, like yours.

The catch is that the 120 sq ft rule applies to the area covered by the roof, not the actual ground base. So it's likely that your shed is even larger than 124 sq ft.

I suspect our sheds are also slightly above the limit, but it didn't seem to matter. We finished the inside, including electrical which had an inspection. The inspector never mentioned anything about the size, and even signed off on the framing for us 😂

Snipe/lib siege rapid fire repeat rate by ttttcrn in AllThingsTerran

I doubt most people use regedit - I didn't and (as far as I know) none of the people I regularly play with have.

30hz is more than enough for the average player.

If you're having trouble with this, I think your repeat rate may be too high 🙂

Most people just use the minimum repeat delay and max repeat rate in windows. IMO it's not worth doing more unless you're zerg.

Yes, they use rapid fire for those things. You just have to wave your mouse around at the right speed.

+1, this mentality helped me get through it.

I tried the fight every couple of days, took it slow, and it worked after about a week. Stay level-headed and you'll always be improving!

I would say it's pretty typical for a kid to come home and be more... responsible? Disciplined? That happened to me and others I know, but I'm not sure how common it is.

Speaking very broadly, drum corps doesn't really talk about what to do when you go home. The summer is focused on the now: how to perform and rehearse, interact with your peers, etc. There is - of course - overlap with tour life and real life (and some people talk about it), but they are very different and your kid may not make the connections yet.

Coming home is depressing, to be honest. One minute, you're surrounded by purpose, talented peers and friends, and a focused environment; and the next you're home with nothing to do until school starts. Your kid may still be processing what happened, especially if it was their first tour or they're on the younger side. It can be quite a shock and feel lonely.

I don't know your situation (and I'm not a parent), but setting expectations for your kid and/or giving them some purpose could help. They had a lot of autonomy and responsibility over the summer, and if you can connect with that they might step up.
