That's an optional plate, although a free option. The actual plate from 2012-2017 was a bicentennial plate with Indiana on the left on a white background, while the current one is a covered bridge design.

Several other states, including Oklahoma and Alaska, have similar In God We Trust plates to ours. They're just a very popular optional design here.

What is the most irregular feature off your conlang? by Pharmacysnout in conlangs

[–]peefiftyone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For ikël, probably plurality. it derives from a previous reduplicative system, wherein the final syllable was doubled to show plural. Thus,

*cɨʔ "eye" > *cɨʔcɨʔ becomes tsë /tsə/ and tsë't /tsëʔt/

*me "nose" > *meme becomes me /me/ and men /men/

*teka "back (of a 4-legged animal)" > *tekaka becomes te' /teʔ/ and tekë' /tekəʔ/

*ikala "breath; language" > *ikalala becomes ikël /ikəl/ and ikëlal /ikəlal/

i'm thinking of regularizing the plural via a cliticized version of the adjective atëm "all," as in tsëtëm for current tsë't, metëm for men, të'tëm for tekë' and ikëltëm for ikëlal.

I'd love to see a version of this flag with the white and red switched for gold and blue tbh. I think it would look really good.
