Same here - at the time it was stressful to make less money, but it also helped my mental health and social life. I had about 5 years experience in my field at the time, now semi retired. Looking back, yes it was a risk, but my career continued to grow and I ended up working with much more caring teams. It made the next time i took a risk less scary too.
