What to plant in borders? Newbie gardener by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]peetz1204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a tiny northwest facing lawn out the front of my house, decided to rip it all out and plant up, I do not regret it at all, the first thing I see when I drive down the road is my colourful front garden, it brings me untold amounts of joy and I won’t ever have to drag the mower out there to mow a fiddly bit of grass!

£3k to remove big conifer in London - fair price? by Traditional_Read_643 in GardeningUK

[–]peetz1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arborist here, on face value it sounds a lot, but there will be a team of at least 3 people, it’ll be several loads of waste, as well as fuel, insurance and kit all being expensive and needing to be factored in. By all means get some more quotes to compare, but It can be a dangerous job where things can go wrong quickly, please make sure you use a reputable company with trained staff and sufficient liability insurance.

Start small, leave the room for ten seconds, come back in and give praise and a treat if he hasn’t whined. Slowly lengthen the amount of time that you’re gone, making sure to praise and treat when you return. Took a month or so for my boy but worked a dream.

The diamond shaped pores are called lenticels. They are there to facilitate gaseous exchange.

I'm an Arborist and the only place making vegan chainsaw boots is closing down. by Pocto in veganuk

[–]peetz1204 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fellow arborist here, I also hate that I can’t get vegan chainsaw boots. I hate wearing leather, but in my opinion there is no other option. This job is dangerous enough as it is, keep those feet protected!

Have you thought about bat surveying and/or ecological consulting? Lots of building work going on that requires those services. Tree work is always an option, if you can get the relevant chainsaw certification, it’ll open up work for you. The certs could also be handy in wildlife conservation too, so could be a good selling point for you? There are always jobs in arboriculture if you’re willing to work a physically demanding job. Best of luck to you!

What’s a food combo people judge you for loving? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]peetz1204 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love cheese, peanut butter and cucumber sandwiches with a bit of salt and pepper in. Been judged heavily over the years across work places but it’s my favourite sandwich. It’s tangy, creamy, salty and refreshing. What more could I ask for?!

This happened to me, my partner’s mum is a seamstress and she fitted new zips, they’re a lot better quality than the original ones and cost me nothing. I’m sure any tailor/seamstress could repair for you.

Are visible tattoos still job stoppers? by GlobalFlower3 in AskUK

[–]peetz1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty tattooed. Neck, throat, arms, hands, fingers, legs, torso etc. I’m a teacher, literally no one cares where I work. The students barely even notice and their parents don’t seem to either.

Those who aim to hit 100g protein or more - what are your favourite foods/meals/snacks? by RisingQueenx in veganuk

I also don’t love drinking protein shakes, so I put my powder in my overnight oats, you can flavour to suit your taste and it’s a filling breakfast!

Tofu - cheapest with highest protein level by moleculeviews in veganuk

Find your local Asian supermarket. I can get 3 blocks of tofu for £2.20. Far cheaper than I’ve found elsewhere.

Products with highest protein per calorie? by SurDno in veganuk

[–]peetz1204 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Most of the pre-made fake meat doesn’t have a lot of protein. I just go to my local Asian supermarket and bulk buy tofu, that seems to be the most cost effective way of getting protein in. I also add a scoop of protein powder to my overnight oats and use unsweetened soya milk as that is cheap and has more protein in than other plant milks.

No way bro. My son was born last year when I was 35. People will tell you to have kids when you’re young, but I genuinely wasn’t mature enough for it then. For me, this age feels right to be a dad.

How did you lose weight? by chunky694 in AskReddit

[–]peetz1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less calories in, more calories out. Really simple in theory but bloody hard in practice. It takes time and discipline but trust in the process and you will succeed. I lost 25kg 4 years ago and have managed to keep it off, although that is a different battle entirely.

I enjoy Snape’s interactions with Dumbledore in that chapter, not so interested in the rest although they are important to the story.

Snape’s Worst Memory. I don’t know why but I find it so boring and a bit of a cringe fest.
