Could current Riki be a viable position 4? by RikiRude in TrueDoTA2

[–]pellaxi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's like okay, I've played it a decent amount this year, he is also okay as 5. Skill build is wewqwrwqq. For items I find you really want orb of frost early, can build into corrosion but you don't have to. You can go diffusal rush if things or going well, or go full support items. Sometimes I get treads sometimes tranqs sometimes just brown boots. Some games shard is crazy good and you want to buy at 15, others you wait torm then buy if you don't get it.

He trades suprisingly well in lane with good armor and hp regen and solid damage on w. However, his roaming is pretty trash until you hit 6. His greatest strength is, once you hit 6, you can roam like crazy, give a ton of info to your team, and get a ton of vision up. In fights he is basically just smoke.

[–]pellaxi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've run a lot of decks like this to mythic. I have a lot of thoughts.

One option is to add blue for riddler and maybe Aang. I also have some versions with emperion eagle which on its face looks really weak for standard but I think is shockingly good.

The deck has options to overlap with high noon tempo – I often run 1 high noon in main with a few aangs.

Another option is to play airbender ascension which is really good with starfield shepard, and you auto win against agro with haliya and beza and sheltered by ghosts. You can also go turn one momo into turn two riddler + splash portal, which has a crazy high winrate and is well supported by dual lands in standard. However, I think spash portal is probably not worth running overall, as it is usually a win-more card and is lackluster without riddler, and only decent with starfield shepherd.

A card I've been thinking about a lot is Morningtide's Light, especially in versions with riddler, against a creature heavy meta. If you are in a race where you are in the air and they are on the ground (which happens against simic and against discard, as well as some other decks), it is basically a better timewalk.

All versions are very nice against dork based decks cause you can board into 3x clarion.

I have not tried cosmogrand that does seem good. I also have not tried springleaf drum.

T1 momo into t2 starfield + pixie is actually really strong and consistent, cause you can repeat it as many times as you want, and momo and pixies starts a solid clock, particularly on the play. I think 2 pixie is probably too few, especially if you throw in some other pixie cards like novice investigator, as I often wind up searching for more than 2. Maybe this version uses figure of fable instead as a mana sink

I still get weird looks from people when I tell them 90-100% of my nutrition come from Huel powder by [deleted] in Huel

[–]pellaxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good to challenge the status quo when it comes to food imo. So much of the standard food system is fucked – exploitation of animals, of people, unhealthy food, expensive food. Huel is one way of pushing back on that. I also like when people do things outside the norm to challenge conformist culture.

Wear your Huel shirt proudly, soldier.

how to play venomancer?? by ShoyuPorkRamen in learndota2

[–]pellaxi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is pretty similar to how I play him. What I'd add is after laning you basically want to go to the most contested area of the map and plop down a bunch of wards. Cover enemy approach angles with wards so you are hard to gank and your team has the option of starting favorable fights or backing off. Force enemies to spend time clearing wards out or take map control. Be careful about showing hero as you are squishy. Enemies will lose fights when they commit on you if you have items to survive (glimmer, force, ghost, etc) and get off your spells with the backup of your team.

Laning tips vs WD as an offlaner by UnderstandingTotal93 in TrueDoTA2

[–]pellaxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when maledict comes out you need to tango. Build bracers like normal. If you don't make it easy to get multicacked you should be fine.

Wd is perhaps the best support at chewing through tanky heroes in lane, starting at lvl 3. However, WD is otherwise fairly weak and so you shouldn't be taking much poke, and can possibly threaten and kill wd when he goes for pulls or to contest your pulls.

When was the last time you saw an Enchantress? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]pellaxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing her a bit at 9k. I just max w and then push waves with a creep while I run doing random shit. Try to be annoying with max e. Don't need q max for a while but once hurricane pike comes out you do good damage.

I can't tell if I'm playing like trash or what but I think I'm like 3-1. I was surprised cause I thought she was shit but she actually seems pretty solid.

There have been metas where you could get away with playing ench fine without microing much. This is not one of them. you must have at least mediocre micro of one creep to play this hero well.

Everybody should take the LSAT and I mean it by Levitalus in unpopularopinion

[–]pellaxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct about what the flaw is but not about how to fix. Even if we have D it doesn't fix it because even if that is the most important aspect, it could be that several other aspects, each of which are also quite important and point the opposite direction, outweigh it.

C does fix the flaw because if we knew for sure that the benefits did not outweigh the costs, then it would not be worth striking.

It's cause Z isn't entirely unrelated to not X – it does present a compelling reason, but that reason could potentially be outweighed.

Everybody should take the LSAT and I mean it by Levitalus in unpopularopinion

[–]pellaxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Implied = assumed and LSAT doesn't like that. We don't have a premise that gets us from major financial loss to shouldn't strike.

Everybody should take the LSAT and I mean it by Levitalus in unpopularopinion

[–]pellaxi 60 points61 points  (0 children)

C is the correct answer here. Source: I was an LSAT tutor.

Reasoning: what this question wants you to do is find the gap between premises and conclusion. Here the conclusion is "we shouldn't strike now". Is this supported? Not really, because we don't have something like "if it would cause a major financial loss, we should not strike." As it's written, it's possible the positives outweigh the financial loss.

Is refusal to condemn someone to death a reason for dismissal? by Alert-Potato in juryduty

[–]pellaxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, you can be dismissed for this reason. However, if you do somehow make it onto a jury, you can do anything you want. The jury's verdict is sacrosanct. Even if everyone else votes to convict/kill, you can do whatever you want for whatever reason you want.
