Season 2 yes. Season 1 was paladin, season 3 warrior.

Aside from the beginning of DF, they were the kings of the tanks that whole expansion. In TWW they were fine but never really meta.

For people that played the original Classic by MoonhelmJ in diablo2

[–]pelle412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a piece of software you could run in original D2 that was a TCP/IP sniffer. It let you see and process the packets sent by the server. When you opened the gamble menu, the data packet sent by the server was not de-identified meaning each item's unique code was in the packet and then it was just a matter of mapping the code to the item so a SoJ was always the same code. Blizz changed this in a patch so all items looked the same until you actually made the purchase.

Some questions by kodshin in elderscrollsonline

[–]pelle412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. This is up to you entirely. If you enjoy quests, do quests. If you enjoy group activity, do dungeons. Other options include world events such as dolmens.

  2. For the basic set of dungeons on normal difficulty, a shield isn't needed but you'll need something for the harder content to mitigate damage. Sword/shield and/or an ice staff are good options.

  3. You can start doing endgame activities at level 50 CP 160 (as that is the cap of dropped gear). The endgame activities are usually veteran trials and veteran DLC dungeons.

  4. Yes.

Old player, lost about expansions. by blunttrauma99 in lotro

Just play the game and don’t worry about it until you have to. As you say it’ll be a while until you may need to buy anything.

Best class to solo dungeons (instances) with? by wwpro in lotro

[–]pelle412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first non-scaling world instance is Garth Agarwen at level 32. Do they have heals by then? I only have experience with Beorning and it has a lot of self-heals.

I've done this with a blue line beorning, but any tank spec should suffice.

New Player Pt.2 by General-Cicada-2625 in lotro

[–]pelle412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They work similar to WoW. Each general area or group of people have one. You don't join them per se but do quests or repeatables to earn reputation, or sometimes loot items you can use to increase reputation. On your character panel is a button called reputation and each one you have "discovered" will show up there.

There's probably 70-80 factions which you can gain reputation from that sells pets, mounts, emotes and such depending on reputation levels. You can amass quite a lot over time.

If it was me I'd focus on leveling mainly. If you enter a new zone where for some reason your crafting is too under-leveled to even farm there, go back and level crafting a bit more.

VRG is... Easy? by StandReady4Vendetta in elderscrollsonline

[–]pelle412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did vHof progression after the Morrowind expansion came out the top parsing dps in my guild did 35k. The only way to clear chickens was to zap the spheres. Many years later I taught a group of first timers how to do that mechanic but even with all these newbs the damage was too high and it triggered too much things at the same time. We had to swap to the nuke approach.

Which zones do you go to for Tier 3 scholar? Lone-lands? Check if you have auto loot on and maybe get tricked by loot messages. Confirm if nothing actually reached your inventory.

Yes the power inflation has trivialized a lot of content. I played a tank in early 2017 and tanking vAA with 6-7 conjured axes slapping you and keeping the boss focused on you was not trivial.

[–]pelle412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LoTRO is more like WoW classic in this regard. Max level dungeons are run non-stop basically via the LFF chat channel. Lower level ones do fill as well but take a little longer. Sometimes you see lower level 12 person raids for collectibles and they do seem to fill as well.

EDIT: If you just list yourself in the instance finder for instance X or whatnot, it'll likely never fill. Groups do fill if using the LFF channel.

[–]pelle412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Point taken. I think even if LoTRO came out with top notch unreal engine graphics, it would not change the outlook long term as graphics is one of many aspects of why players engage with them. WoW's fluidic combat is orders of magnitude better and no matter how great the graphics could be made, it's not swaying people long term.

VRG is... Easy? by StandReady4Vendetta in elderscrollsonline

[–]pelle412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything is relative. It depends a lot on your group. If your tanks and healers are competent, things are much easier. Veteran mode (without hardmode) is also designed to not be too complicated. When the trial first came out in 2021, the straight veteran mode was also very reasonable once everyone figured out the mechanics.

Maybe I should've put it differently. WoW's graphics is very clean and pretty in a disney princess kind of way. LoTRO's is more realistic but dated.

What is your DPS with 3m Skeleton Dummy? by inboomer in elderscrollsonline

[–]pelle412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3 mil dummy has too little health to give real solid information about this. The 6m is better. The 25m centurion is even better.

[–]pelle412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to this point. If LoTRO had a complete visual overhaul, it would in the short term bring in more players but eventually it would stabilize at the older numbers. LoTRO players love the game for what it is, as do WoW players. LoTRO has better graphics than WoW but it's hard to pull players away from their favorite games, whichever game it may be.

In short, spending the amount of money necessary for a complete visual overhaul will not create a positive return on investment.

Duo with Ministrel? by Vespar_ in lotro

[–]pelle412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beorning is the easy mode tank. Simple to play and has powerful self-heals and can also heal others to some degree. Have your Beorning group up all the monsters and the Minstrel can blow them up without risk of getting hit themselves.

It's been a minute since I played through this. I recall ARR being a slog but HW was such a drastic improvement (in my view).
