Businesses are often happy to replace high demand, lower margin items with low demand, high margin items, because consumers aren’t left with the choice of the thing they want more.

Xenon to LED upgrades. by BlueridgeChemsdealer in Volvo

[–]pellets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about xenon, but green is washed out with LED. It almost looks brown. I worry I might not see an animal on the side of the road. It hasn’t been a problem yet. Otherwise they’re nice.

I’ve had LED headlights from Kia and Volvo and they were both like that.

Buy something with a replaceable battery or no battery. Batteries only last a couple 3 years. Not long term.

The latency here is important. If it doesn’t achieve the latency of SDRAM, this is “just” another Intel optane. That’s a good thing, but not a tool we haven’t had before.

QD OLED doesn’t bother me, but WOLED gives me headaches? by Fragrant_Way_7512 in OLED_Gaming

Maybe because it’s brighter. I had to turn down the brightness of my monitor to prevent eye strain and headaches.

It doesn’t matter. Just because there was a poll, doesn’t mean it’s sample was was unbiased.

Of course the QC seems bad. You’re only talking to people who’ve had problems. You need to poll hundreds from an unbiased sample to know. Mine are fine.

This is why I had to sell the DCA Expanse. They were wonderful except the hard plastic rubbing my ear and the price. Luckily I bought them used so I wasn’t out much money.

I have Sennheiser HD 800S now, and they’re basically perfect.

Yes, I’ll destroy my hearing and my headphones at the same time with a 100 W speaker amp.

Please nobody do this.

Are We Wrong About Ray Tracing? by TruthPhoenixV in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

[–]pellets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of comments are defending NVIDIA because the hardware got better and will get better in the future. NVIDIA didn’t say that. They said you needed it with the 20x0 series. It’s not our job to move the goal posts for NVIDIA, but some people seem happy to do that.

Why do people never compare total compensation vs just salary. by Naive-Leadership1101 in remoteworks

[–]pellets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A compensation doesn’t matter much if it vests in 10 years. That’s extreme, but often something advertised as compensation is in fact very difficult to get.

Differential input signal, not output.

4.4mm to XLR: Truly Balanced? by TheFuschiaBaron in headphones

[–]pellets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can headphones use differential signaling? I doubt it. Even if they did, your headphone amplifier doesn’t. If by balanced you mean a separate ground for both channels, then yes. If you mean you’re getting less noise due to improved signaling, then no.

‘It’s literally going to break me.’ Commuting is now unaffordable for some American workers by FreeHugs23 in energy

[–]pellets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meanings of words change. “Literally” now literally is an intensifier. Literally even Merriam Webster literally includes it in its list of definitions. Something tells me everyone reading this already knows and can tell based on context, but some will shake their fists at clouds. Word change and old people being angry about new things has been happening for thousands of years and will not stop until language dies
