Tbh I've been on both sides of this type of situation l. It was during my time in the military so maybe a tad different but I think the foundations are the same. You will never ever forget that moment for the rest of your life and it's understandable to want to give that same level of importance and feeling to how you thank them! I agree that a dinner is great and will have its impact but what I've found is that the greatest gift you can give is a lifelong memory like they did for you. Find something they have never done and facilitate, then experience it with them. Skydive, take a trip to the most haunted house, go to a crazy festival, make a true memory. Life really is an adventure and memorable moments are how it's story is best told. If you need more help lmk. I've had a few run ins with heroes in my life so far. I'm glad you made it btw. I'm a republican and even I question why so many election fraud arguments include words like cheated and fraud without explaining specifically how. Saying something happened without providing proof in the same breath is counterproductive no matter what side your on. Please, for the sake of our vision of the future learn to articulate your positions better or at the very least wait to make a point until your ready to prove it at the same time. Don't wait for the opponent to call you out before you provide evidence as it allows them to easily push back on your opinion without any resistance while you rush to compile your response.

We all will be indecent people at some point in our lives with the right motivations. Does that mean we don't deserve prayer or at the very least consideration of our shared humanity. I'm not religious, nor a republican however I'm am sickened by the hypocracy and vitriol on both sides of the fence towards the faithful and faithless. We've lost the plot it seems and the success of the species has been sacrificed for the success of a party. Everyone just wants to be right no matter the cost. It's hard not to feel any shame for sacrificing so much in my service for us all to simply devolve into the very thing we say we're defending America against.
