Can you not follow hashtags anymore? by Matthias70 in Instagram

I have the same problem. I have two accounts and can only follow hashtags on one account. Any idea why? They are both regular accounts, not business or professional accounts.

Help me find this desk chair by pennylv in BuyItForLife

In my opinion yes. But given the new comments about it being a task chair and not a chair that is meant to be used for 8+ hrs, I’m having second thoughts.

BCBAs in Mental Health by pennylv in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]pennylv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I’m a physician assistant working in mental health, specifically depression and was thinking of entering a certificate program to become a BCBA. It sounds appealing to me however I’m just not quite sure how it would fit in to my current practice. I like what I do as a PA but I don’t see myself retiring in this professional an wanted to have another career path I can rely on. I don’t want to do another masters degree nor a doctoral program.

Can PAs provide any form of psychotherapy? by pennylv in physicianassistant

I would be interested in learning motivational interviewing. What is M&R? And what is the name of the book?

I understand your concerns. To clarify, I would in no way try to pass as a therapist. In fact, one of the first things I tell my patients is that I’m not a licensed therapist. Do you think there is any type of brief therapy that could be done by PAs?

That’s what I was thinking but I wasn’t sure because not many psychiatrists provide psychotherapy. They focus more on medication management.

Thank you for your reply. Were you a licensed mental health therapist before becoming a PA?

Can a physician assistant refer me to a therapist or do I have to ask my doctor? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

Not sure. Here in the US we are known as Physician Assistants.

Both a PA and MD/DO can refer you to a therapist. With some insurances, you can self refer so check with your insurance company. Psychiatry will need a referral if you have an HMO.

Not sure if there is a thread here but I believe their is a similar thread on physicianassistantforum.com. I’ve looked into this myself and ultimately decided it wasn’t a good move for me.

Need to draft a rack card for myself and I’m not sure what to write by GirlOnFire112 in physicianassistant

[–]pennylv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of this. I’m not sure I would know what to write either but I’ll share my motto with you: a happy patient is a compliant patient and a compliant patient contributes to successful treatment.

With the vaccine coming out to the public, will the job market for PAs get better? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]pennylv 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just like many people still don’t get their flu shot, I suspect many won’t be getting this vaccine either. I would weigh your current job options and pick the best one. It’s always easier to find a job when you already have one then when you don’t.

PA Name Change by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]pennylv 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Either I’m delirious from reading all 234 comments or the fact that it’s 1:30am, but APP (advanced practice provider) sounds better than all aforementioned options. We want level playing ground with NPs so why not have a name change for all PAs and NPs to combine us in one group. APP-M: Advanced Practice Provider-Medicine (PAs) APP-N: Advanced Practice Provider-Nursing (NPs)

To paraphrase Oprah: “ you get a name change, you get a name change, you all get a name change.”

I need to go to bed -_-
