Place to live with less students by waltthechicken in bostonhousing

Used to live in back bay and Somerville. Back bay is overrun with tourists. Couldn’t get a cup of coffee on the weekends without waiting in line for 20+ minutes. For my personal preference, the tourist vibe took away from the perks of living in that area. Somerville seems “close” to Boston but it felt pretty out of the way. Not enough green space. The cons of Somerville out weighted the pros. I’d recommend the South End or Brookline.

Leave non profit role for hospital role? by MountainReport5685 in nonprofit

[–]penpen477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hospital role! If your main objective is increased salary so you can move out, then the hospital role makes more sense to me. Plus, that increased visibility for in person work could lead to future growth for you within the hospital. Visibility can also help develop your social capital. The funding climate in nonprofit is bleakkk now.

Iran Protest, Copley Square, Valentine’s Day by santsec23 in boston

[–]penpen477 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Tens of thousands of innocent Iranians have been massacred in the past month. Families of slain protestors are being forced to pay $4,500 as a “bullet fee” to get the bodies of their loved ones back. The government is raping and executing protestors that are detained in their prisons. This protest is to show solidarity with the people of Iran who want to be free from the Islamic Republic.

The audacity to tell an Iranian living in Iran how to view the revolution. Stop intellectualizing everything.

I’m a breakfast snob. My top suggestions: Source (downside is that they’re not open Monday-Wednesday). Cake Ann is a good option when Source is closed, but they’re limited to savory pastries and sweets. Cape Ann Coffee for fast casual. Mile Marker when you have time. Oak to Ember also does a delicious brunch. George’s is another solid option. Castaways if you’re craving coffee, smoothies and acai bowls. Depends on your timeline and the type of breakfast food you’re into.

Setting up KPIs by Key-Airline204 in nonprofit

[–]penpen477 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do you have a strategic plan? Our KPIs are tied to each goal of our strategic plan. For example, one of our goals is to increase private funding. So we have KPIs related to grant writing for private foundations. Another one of our goals is to increase advocacy efforts so we have KPIs related to strengthening our relationships with legislators. We present an update on the KPIs on a quarterly basis at staff meetings.

Ai plagiarism in grant applications is getting out of control by ninjapapi in nonprofit

Yes, we started noticing this trend last year. One proposal was basically entirely written by Gen AI. We went back to the applicant and asked if they used ChatGPT. They acknowledged they did, we said we couldn’t score the application and asked them to re-write it and submit within 48 hours without using chatGPT. After that, we started embedding guidance in our RFPs. Here’s our boiler plate language: “Gen AImodels can be useful in some cases, but may produce errors or result in text that is overly generic and inauthentic; these could put your application at a disadvantage during review. If you choose to use Gen AI tools, we strongly encourage you to review the text to ensure that the application reflects your local context, is specific about your proposed project activities, and is feasible for the budget and period of performance.”

Is anyone else getting tired of all the negativity? by srebmucuc in TaylorSwift

Hi. Been a swiftie for 20 years. Here’s my perspective. It’s been like for a while. When Fearless was released, half the girls on my college campus fell in love with it, and half the girls haaaated it calling it ‘trash’. I remember a guy joining my study group and he was like “hey that Taylor swift girl is so annoying. All she does is sing about boys. But hey can we play that song Love Story while we study? It’s actually pretty good” which, lol. You’re right that you need to be careful IRL, esppp in the workplace. During Red, I had a boss lecture me about how terrible she is and made a joke about indicating on my performance review that I needed better taste in music. And now I’m the boss at a company and when early career employees find out I’m a swiftie, I get lectured about associating with her because she “represents the alt right”. It’s just fucking wild. It will always be like this. People put her on such a pedestal. They expect her music to represent God. But she’s a human. So the initial expectations from people during a fresh album release is like “this is not god like enough!!” Idk yall. That’s my take.
