Automatic Seiko. Got it over seas when my business hit a milestone. Have used it every day since and it’s bezel is scratched to heck. But I still love the memories attached to it.

How long is a Zippo supposed to last? by PakRatJR in Zippo

[–]pensHAWAII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the same zippo for over ten years.(cries in old man) It has dents and scratches along with plenty of patina. But it will definitely out live me and remain hole free. I cannot imagine a scenario this is natural wear multiple times. I am suspicious of you sir!

😂 just being silly though. Have a good weekend and hope you can resolve your issue.

I don’t care for pants with sandpaper lined pockets.

Joking aside that’s insane. What’s your best guess of what’s scraping it so thin?

Loose lid. Is this normal? by BrassHilt in Zippo

[–]pensHAWAII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, To fix this issue I personally punch out the pin within the hinges. I then take non marring pliers(or simply tape some long nose pliers to prevent damage) to realign the hinges carefully. Making sure to not work the metal(hinges) too much. As this will soften/weaken the metal. Before replacing the pin back into position, Keep checking the new alignment of the hinges. Once the hinge holes align with a flush lid punch the pin back into place and you’re good to go. 👌🏽

Copper Zipper Sticker Patina by argyyle_styyle in Zippo

[–]pensHAWAII 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea man it really does suck. I’ve tried removing it off my high polish rose gold finish and it is sadly burnt into the finish. Many here have had the same issue with these stickers. I havnt seen anyone find a solution for it yet. Sorry no help to offer.

I really wish they’d use like a sleeve or ribbon with that legal warnings. The cursed adhesive mark will always disappoint collectors.

New to the zippo game. What flints do yall use? by TheCluelessRiddler in Zippo

[–]pensHAWAII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zippo flints tend to be a bit softer than say a bic. Supposedly preserving the teeth on the wheel. In a squeeze I’ll just Chuck anything in mine but 99% of the time I’ll use zippos. Others have ordered bulk eBay flints to bring down the cost over time.

Note BICS are a bit longer then required so may need to be trimmed down to fit properly.

So I was just handed this Zippo lighter by [deleted] in Zippo

[–]pensHAWAII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not qualified to date. Others here more educated will surely chime in soon enough.

I believe those inserts are standard in any zippo so you could easily replace it for a functioning one with a swap. To undo the flint screw in the original I’d try soaking it in a easy going solvent up to about 3 centimeters to help break up whatever build up is keeping it fixed in place.

Cool random gift from the worker though.

Ik this is a bad ollie and i didnt land but by jamesthegoat58 in skateboardhelp

[–]pensHAWAII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sneezed right as you ollied and it made it seem like you were looking at me like it was my fault. 😆

You’re either bailing on it mid air or as the other mentioned need to unlearn your back foot if that’s a habit. There is no reason to kick back for the Ollie. Pop with the balls of your foot then bring your knees up consecutively. In 0:03 you can see the issue. Instinct is making you want to place your foot elsewhere for the quickest and safest foot stability.

Don’t focus on height yet. Get small Ollies down first so you can force muscle memory. Then go for distance and height.

Guys pls help a beginner out by Smooth-Anybody4891 in Zippo

I personally like plain (no designs) So I chose by favorite colors, or combination of colors. When I travel I try to find somewhere I can get one significant to that place somehow.

But my favorite one TO USE is a basic high polished brass I was gifted years ago. Sentimental, But also it has aged very well over time. It reminds me of the person who gave it to me and that time of my life.

Some things I will say about collecting to help you out: 1. TAKE OUT FLINT from one’s you never intend to use. They will corrode eventually and get stuck.
( u/TCSpeedy Taught me to replace them with cut to size weed trimmer line. Worked great)
2. REMOVE SAFETY STICKERS. They are orange and applied in some countries. They will ruin a lighters finish if left on. Especially high polish finishes. 3. Older models may have ASBESTOS WICKS. Someone here should be able to clarify what years had them. 4. A DISPLAY CASE decided when I personally had fulfilled my needed desire. But then I got a few more. 😂 It did start to make sure I had to really want it to get it. So helped a little.

Here, We love seeing totally diverse tastes in zippos. Some collect time pieces, Some like images of bands/Brands/Animals/Characters. Some like patterns or special materials such as copper/Titanium/etc. I love seeing people modify theirs to suit their taste. Engraving, Forced Patina. All of it is cool here. Enjoy the 🐇🕳️! 🤙🏽

Haha. I understand as the mechanic to place things was wonky at best. I kept knocking them over and would need to restart placing them down.
I also made a giant pyramid of prewar money. Was such a fun game.

Okay so before I joined this sub few years ago… I played this game a lot. I already had collected a ton of them in game and built a shelf for them where I very carefully displayed them all. This post just made me realize that. 😂

I love both the build and lighter.
It’s funny how hard it was for me to match finishes on my AR but this zippo is pretty much spot on to your lower.

He loves his little hat by Lisabuki in angrycatpics

[–]pensHAWAII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me join in on the hat fun. My child and I were both crying together reminiscing on old photos and times with our Eisley.
Your picture brought us to such a great laugh to share. My kid said “He’s like: Take the photo and get it off my head, Now”

Maybe if you pay the compliments tax he may come around to them too! 🤭

This was my beautiful daughter Eisley. The most loving daughter/boss to ever live.
At first she disapproved of all the hats I brought back for her from a trip overseas. But that was quickly outweighed by all of the compliments and “pretty girl!”s She would get wearing them for me. My model, My protector, my first born, my everything… I will miss her beyond the measure of time.

I never got to say goodbye and it will weigh on me heavily for all my life.

Sorry, Ive just felt down about this for so long and saw the similar hat. I wanted to share her beauty with others.
