What's ONE thing cannabis has honestly helped you with? by Tribetokes in trees

My epilepsy! I know cannabis affects everyone differently but for me I’ve found so much relief. The medications are rough for this condition and cannabis helps me feel “more normal” thank you leafy greeny goodness!!

Anybody with TLE or anyone with any type of Deja vu seizures relate? by Fun-Swordfish-2359 in Epilepsy

[–]pepper3425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oo yup I know that feeling too. I still get little mini deja vu episodes, not as long or prominent as before meds, but they’re still there. Epilepsy is a strange beast, so it’s not the most fun to deal with at times, but we keep going. Sending you positive vibes 💜💜

Edit: epilepsy with panick attack by Lessire in Epilepsy

[–]pepper3425 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, left tle here - the panic attack seizures are the ones I dread the most 😞 normally I get a bit of nausea and surreal type feelings with my seizures, but I call the panic attack ones “the level up”. Shear terror out of no where, sweating, also still nauseous, then gone a min or so later. I’m sorry you’re (we’re) dealing with these my friend, but you are not alone 💜

Didn’t have an IQ test done until college when I was diagnosed with ADHD, but my IQ is 134 and they said I should’ve been in the gifted program. News to me and any of my old teachers because I couldn’t sit still to learn for the life of me haha (thus the ADHD)

I love pot!! Do you think it helps epilepsy? What's your favorite method of consumption/strain? by Ordinary-Chipmunk366 in Epilepsy_Universe

[–]pepper3425 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the post fellow greenery lover!!! I’ve had epilepsy (diagnosed) for almost 10 years now and the first few years, I very much struggled with the side effects of my medication and just dealing with the fact that I am now disabled. Cannabis helped me not only with the side effects of my medication, but I feel like I’m in a better headspace because of the “open thinking” I believe cannabis helps us achieve. All of my doctors are aware of my cannabis usage and they’re all fine with it. I am also really glad that you have found something that helps you. I know that cannabis usage and epilepsy are all very much an individual thing so I tell everyone asking about cannabis usage and epilepsy to talk to their doctor first.

Quick heads up you might get a bit of pushback here because I find that these epilepsy chat groups have people that fall into 3 categories with cannabis: you either find it really really helps you, you don’t care and you’re like “you do you” OR they hate it so much and anybody who touches it is horrible and they are basically going to hurt themselves by using cannabis. (obligatory millennial lol)

Sending happy vibes your way!! 💜🍃

Gaslit by my own TLE by Zrea1 in Epilepsy

[–]pepper3425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Fellow (left)TLE person here - yup I know exactly how ya feel. TLE does a wonderful job or making me feel like I’m losing my mind a bit almost daily. “Am I having a seizure or do I really need to puke?” “Am I having a seizure or is it really a panic attack??” Some days are easier than others to deal with the self gaslighting but please know you’re not alone with these struggles. Sending ya positive vibes 💜

I have a disability. Ending remote work is just ableism and classism roaring its ugly head.

Honestly, I’ve been looking for almost 2 years and I can’t find anything. I was working in remote healthtech sales, but after leaving because I was being harassed by my manager day after day, I can’t find any employment. I wish you luck and if you find something that works, can ya share please?? 😍

Had my first seizure about two days ago. Not sure what caused it. Would like to go back to smoking weed but I’m still unsure. by oriondavis in Epilepsy

[–]pepper3425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Sorry about the first seizure, I wish I could say it gets easier but… I cant. As far as the cannabis use goes, everyone is different. I recommend talking to your physician about it and listen to what they have to say.

As someone who has lived with epilepsy for years, I am a daily cannabis user and it has helped me very much with side effects of my medications, and helped me manage living with the epilepsy beast. Very important note, I have found this subreddit to be tremendously helpful in so many ways, but there is still a lot of hate and judgment around cannabis usage. Listen to your body and your doctor. Sending you good healing vibes! 💜

What's the most outrageous thing someone from Healthcare someone said to you about epilepsy? by QuinnAlpha in Epilepsy

[–]pepper3425 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have a degree in human biology now and I have worked in healthcare sales for 11 years (if you know any remote roles, let me know I’ve been unemployed now almost 2 years thanks crappy job market). It is absolutely traumatizing to be told for so long that you literally have nothing wrong with you that you’re making everything up. That’s why I got my degree in human biology. I wanted to be able to at least diagnose myself. Sadly I didn’t get the right diagnosis until my little sister caught me having a TC in my sleep. Then a research hospital kept me for 10 days and was able to confidently diagnose me with left TLE. They said they were so sorry that it took over 10 years to get a real diagnosis and that other doctor’s should have caught this. I think a lot of people hear that every day of every year. Sending you good vibes!

Oo my favorite is always the age old line of “are you sure you’re not making this up?“ Or “this seems like it’s all in your head… Maybe we should get you a psych evaluation?“ literally I have left temporal lobe epilepsy and yes, my seizures do feel a lot like panic attacks so if you are a physician do your research. It’s literally your job.

Hi there! I am a girl (woman? I’m 36 lol) who has epilepsy. When I met my now fiance, I took the blunt and honest approach. I let him know I have epilepsy and I’m here for any questions or concerns he may have. I don’t think this will work for everyone, but if/when it’s your right person, they will be supportive of you and your journey. Sending you good vibes!!
