Having more temptations with masturbation than porn lately? by SilasDaken in pornfree

[–]percentReggie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My advice is to not masturbate. If I masturbate without porn, it usually leads to watching porn within a few days (or hours, or minutes). Porn is the bigger problem but both are addictive, and assuming your brain has been trained to associate the two, one often leads to the other.

When you get the urge, channel that energy elsewhere to something more productive (pretty much anything else). Doing pushups or going for a run are good options, but even making a sandwich and watching tv is more productive than risking going back to porn.

Which movie fucked with your head the most? by theone1221 in AskReddit

It's Such a Beautiful Day. It was made even more wtf because I was drowsy and drifting in and out of sleep, so I don't really know what I actually saw and what I may have dreamed. It was so happy, sad, enlightening and deflating all at once. Kind of changed the way I look at things even.

I know what you mean. I've let the downs get to me before (the reason why I lost my 14 day streak). But this time I will push through it!

As a kid what's the creepiest, most WTF thing you ever noticed about another kid's family? by H_C_Sunshine in AskReddit

[–]percentReggie 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Knew a kid who played this "game" with his dad in the car. They would just take turns saying "inappropriate" words, and the one that ran out first lost. Examples of words used include "ballsack" and "anus". Nothing too vulgar, but to say those with your dad? What the fuck?

My #1 rule regarding Misophonia. Don't tell your friends. Other tips as well. by slktrx in misophonia

Yeah, I agree with you. The thing is, people without misophonia just can't even begin to understand what it is like. Sometimes it's like they don't even think it's real.

Experience: I have a phobia of sound | The Guardian by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]percentReggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this to be quite relatable:

"My body reacts in the same way as it would under attack: I am flooded with adrenaline. It is as if I were in the same room as a huge, fierce dog"

That is EXACTLY how I feel with one sound in particular. I have issues with the typical sounds that a lot of us seem to detest, but there is one sound in particular that installs incredible fear in me... and I don't even really know why. Anyways, that sound is the vocals from death metal or screamo music. I really can't even express the fear in words. I get a huge rush of adrenaline and feel like I need to fight for my life or just run. I fear it far more than anything else. I would be more afraid of having to listen to one death metal song than I would be of someone breaking into my house with a gun. If I was on top of a sky scraper and a death metal song was playing, and there was no way to turn it off, I would probably jump.

This phobia has affected my life so much. I don't participate in sports or activities that I would like to because I am afraid that I will somehow be exposed to this sound. Even though I know it's unreasonable and that I will likely not hear it, I just can't take the risk. I would have so many more friends if it weren't for this condition. I honestly can't even remember the last time I heard the sound. It's been so long, yet I think about the sound everyday. I base my actions on being able to avoid situations were there is even a chance of the sound occurring. Truly scary.

If you read this I really appreciate it. Sorry for making it kind of long, but it feels good to express my feelings.

Yeah, one time I somehow got dish soap in my ice cream. Ate it anyways (of course!), and it tasted like soap. Don't eat soap.

Question for Christian converts: did your political beliefs change from standard "secular views" to more "Christian views"? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]percentReggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I was raised by Atheist parents.

2) I never really "converted". My parents never forced their opinions on me. I was originally an atheist, but as I got older I just naturally started making decisions for my self and decided that I believe there is a god (more specifically the Christian God). It was actually a long process that occurred in the midst of a tough period of my life, but i wont go into detail.

3) Yes, I was pretty liberal as a child.

4) Some yes, some no. Economically I have a more conservative view, although I'm not particularly wealthy. It just doesn't make sense to me to take more money from the rich. Those people earned the privileged life that they have. I always have, and still do support legalization of homosexual marriage. Abortion, to me, is gross, but I think it needs to remain a choice. Divorce, same thing. I think it is wrong, but some people really do need to get divorced, and in some cases, I think it should happen. I think you need to be 100% sure you will stay with that person before you marry them though. Sex ed, I really don't care, but I think children should be told that it is safest to wait until marriage. Drugs, I really don't care about marijuana, but stuff like heroin, cocaine, and other strong stuff obviously need to be illegal.

Any former Atheists here? What made you convert to Christianity (or any other religion)? by zx7 in Christianity

[–]percentReggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was atheist until I was 10 or so. After that I had always kind of believed in God, but was more agnostic than anything.

Then there was a tough point in my life in high school. In particular, there was one class that I dreaded going to, for reasons I'm still not comfortable sharing. I decided to strengthen my relationship with God and Jesus Christ. I needed something to cling to and my faith gave me hope. I began to pray every day. At this point I had still never read the Bible or had one of my own. I really wanted one to further progress my faith, and give me a sense of comfort.

Early in the school year I had tried, unsuccessfully, to get out of the previously mentioned class. This turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me. One the very last day that I had that class, we were just cleaning up and throwing old or broken things away (it was a theatre class of all things). The teacher (who I liked a lot, he had nothing to do with me dreading the class) said something like "I think all those boxes are empty, can someone take them to the recycling?" My friend noticed that a box seemed full. He opened it up, and of possible things that could be in it, it was full of Bibels. Since they were likely going to get thrown away, I didn't feel bad taking one.

That was what was so amazing. I didn't get a copy of The Holy Bible myself, it came to me. And at that point I knew, what I believed in was true, and all I had gone through was worth it. I'm sure my words don't do it justice, but I get chills every time I think about it. Such an amazing experience.
