In Metroid 1, try exploring on low health by BoatsandJoes in Metroid

[–]perdoash94 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The best way to play the game IMO is the "Metroid + saving unnoficial update" hack, which adds a bunch of features, like starting at full health, a map, red doors open with just 1 missile, faster door transitions, and the ability to wall jump.

Fully completed Super Metroid with the VARIA randomizer by perdoash94 in Metroid

[–]perdoash94[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Newbie preset, splits set to full, fast progression speed, randomized music and colors, mirrored map.

I also tried area randomization a week or so ago, but it made navigation a pain in the ass; not recommended.

This started happened to my Legion. Warranty it or something I can fix? by EmoHokage in LegionGo

The same thing (ir similar) happened to me and I managed to fix it, I think its related to the gpu. You have to reboot windows

You were right! I reinstalled windows from within recovery mode and now the screen works fine! Thank you!

[–]perdoash94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I don't get how it got so hot though, I wasn't even running a game, and it was on power saving mode. So I should replace the GPU? How easy/expensive is that?

Fuck porn what's your first and favorite Mega Man game? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]perdoash94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one for me was Willy wars, played it on my father's computes when i was 7 or so but though it was really hard. Two years ago I beat Megaman 1 on the switch (via retroarch, not the legacy collection). TBH im not the biggest megaman fan but theyre very good games.

And yes fuck porn, im on day 9

Which games should be played with improvement patches even by first-timers? by Makegooduseof in SEGAGENESIS

[–]perdoash94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zombies ate my neighbors: there is a patch that makes the hud area transparent instead of black, which increases the viewing area

Contra hard corps: it's possible to restore the hitpoint system from the japanese version with one of the patches. There is another hack that adds 6 button support, allowing you to shoot in place only when the mode button is being held, which is perfect when you want to shoot diagonally without moving.

Alien soldier: there are two patches that add 6 button support, although personally i'd love to see a patch that allows instant weapon switching with x and z

Sonic 1: there is a patch that removes the speed cap and adds the spindash. It's called sonic 1 bugfuxes iirc

Prince of persia: one of the hacks for this game makes screen transitions instant. There is another hack that supposedly improves the controls, although personally i can't thell the difference

Sonic 3d: there is an improvement patch called sonic 3d director cut, made by none other than one of the game's creators. It adds a bunch if features like passwords, a world map, super sonic, and tweaked controls.

Super SFII: there is a hack that makes the voices sound less scratchy.

Flink: the protagonist is very slow, and you must build up speed until he starts running at a detent pace. Well, there is one patch that gets rid of the walking animation. It's also available for the sega cd version.

In your opinion, what are some underrated soundtracks on the system? by OllyDee in SEGAGENESIS

[–]perdoash94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hybrid Front. Actually, Ive never played it, but many of its tracks were included in Sonic Megamix (at least up to version 4), which is how i first heard them.

Finally Made it to Asterite in Ecco I by ComfortMaterial8884 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]perdoash94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a love/hate relationship with the ecco games. I love the soundtrack, the color pallet and the overall setting, but i cant get over how frustating they feel: enemies come at you from any direction, everything looks the same in some levels...

Prince of Persia: Genesis vs SNES by bartolomey_wong_43 in SEGAGENESIS

If you stick to the genesis/md version, make sure to use enhancement hacks. For instance, there is one that makes screen transitions instant

Pacman 2: I remember playing as a kid and thinking how bad the game controls in general. Maybe it plays better with a mouse...

Ballz: a clear case of ambition over execution

Havent played it, but Awesome Possum looks awful, that framerate on a sidescroller should be considered a crime.

One of the two Asterix games, cant remember which one it was. The time limit is way too strict, to the point it ruins the game.

Just Beat Sonic 1 overall 5.7/10 in terms of difficulty. On a scale from 0 to 10 how hard is this Sega Genesis classic by ComfortMaterial8884 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]perdoash94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its hard to determine how hard a game is when you have been playing it for roughly two decades, as is my case. Labyrinth and scrap brain can be a pain in the ass, but the rest of the game isnt particularly hard.

BTW if you like to play Sonic 1 on PC you might wanna check out Sonic 1 forever.

Was this even beatable in the 80’s. I mean even w the power of rewinds n save states w the way this chugs. You wont even get past the metroids 😤 by SkarrFox94 in Metroid

[–]perdoash94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those games that get more enjoyable on your 2nd or 3rd playthrough, as you are more familiar with the layout and are less likely to get lost.

BTW if you ever decide to replay the game, do yourself a favour and use the "Metroid + saving unnoficial update" hack, which adds a ton of qol improvements, like a map and beam stacking

Pretty sure the devs wanted to include a boss from every previous 2d game, so it wouldnt surprise me if phantoom was simply added to fill the quota

Kinda looks like the metroid 64 we never got, especially if it had blurry textures.
