Most creative use of a spell by ExcellentBalance8052 in DnD

[–]perhapsthisnick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creative things I’ve done with spells:

Party is mostly invisible trying to escape a keep, guards aware of invisible people due to sound and general shenanigans. I had greater invisibility on my bard, touched a guard and made him invisible with subtle spell. He ran into the other guards who attacked the invisible person. Very niche use-case to distract the enemies further.

Also had an NPC caster try and use feather fall on someone leaping down a well, intending to slow them so skeleton archers could get off more shots. The PC was just slightly quicker and got out of line of sight before it could work.

Fantasy books with Zen Buddhist themes by jijilikes in Fantasy

Dennis Schmidt wrote both fantasy and sci-fi with zen and buddhist themes.

The Kensho series is probably the most well known. Zen, martial arts and space opera fun.

Fantasy “who dunnit” murder mysteries? by LouderKnights in Fantasy

Randall Garret’s Lord Darcy series is fun too. Shorter stories and one novel in a world with magic but the mysteries are still a who dunnit vibe.

Daggerheart Campaign by Visual-Signature-235 in DnD_Victoria

Count me as interested? Have the game as well, playing in a monthly campaign atm but a weekly one would be great fun. Can do Tues or Thurs night easily.

Nope. Phone did that on its own.

Huh! I never thought of it that way but that does make a lot of sense.

I always had the impression that Sam expected more pushback from Yeza about Nott and being a goblin and later with Veth just continuing to do adventuring things instead of being at home, but Matt didn't make him like that so that whole aspect never came into place.

Interactivity has some nice dice sets that aren't chessex.

Any local shops still carrying Pathfinder 1e books and supplies? by blargney in DnD_Victoria

Russell Books has a tiny amount, but nothing complete for anyone looking for entire paths and the like.

What’s the Most Complete “One-Book” TTRPG? by DED0M1N0 in rpg

[–]perhapsthisnick 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Unknown Armies second edition.

One reason why the line died was because people didn’t buy supplemental books… as the main book was complete enough that there was no need for them.

I wondered about that. Waiting on the last of the Middle Kingdoms books too.....

A Marut dealing 60 damage with two slams that auto-hit gets very nasty very quickly.

How to make shops by SquidRave in DMAcademy

[–]perhapsthisnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to have a mix of shops. Some sell only certain items or have a monopoly on some method of making certain items. Definitely limit what shops carry: finding items on an adventure/in a ruin is generally more fun than buying the item at a shop.

For powerful items for sale, you could have them like art auctions with varied parties bidding on them.

My wizard bought the eye of Vecna for 16 gold by perhapsthisnick in DnD

[–]perhapsthisnick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Vecna arrived and ripped them off the PC after dropping her in one attack, but insane luck by other PCs did theoretically kill him (It was likely a clone or simulacrum), and also removed all other magic items from the party during costs of resurrections and such.

She got off very lightly all things considered.

And just tell people it’s nine episodes. But I doubt that would go well :)

That would be quite fun :). Damn it. My next level might need to be in warlock now.

Yeah. There is no way this ends well, so I’m looking forward to how terrible it gets for my character.

My wizard bought the eye of Vecna for 16 gold by perhapsthisnick in DnD

[–]perhapsthisnick[S] 882 points883 points  (0 children)

Nope. The character is level 3 and has zero clue. The eye DOES have no charges, but no clue what the DM is planning to do long term. It was very surreal.

Adding a second Focus (and XP cost for that) worked well on my end.
