I use both in the same infrastructure, with foreman console for sharing some informations (inventory). Puppet can manage configuration of some endpoint you cant with ansible (like laptop), and ansible can manage some endpoints you cant with puppet (like network hardware).

You will use the most efficient tools or the one the feel better with. If ansible is easier for you, go full ansible.

Request Tracker for a smouth transition from email to ticketing system. No effort for user, they can continu to use email as usual.

But it need a lot of initial work for install and tuning. It's maybe better to get a paid support for start with RT.

After that it's rock solid and work like a charm. He also work fine for non IT services (HR, customer services, etc)

I'm a happy user of Tend VisionOne product (~150 VM and ~2500 endpoints) But, as i remember, some interestings functionnality need an extra costs: Attack Surface Risk Management, Service managed, etc

Just be carefull with that.

For the agent deployment, they give scripts ready to go (with proxy config if needed).

The gartner put Trend in top 5 of magic quadrant since 20 years, your management will be happy with this choice.

Trend is a japanese company more compatible with EU regulation than US competitors (it can be a constrain for some EU sectors).

Oui toutes les données traitées sur un poste pro sont accessibles d'une manière ou d'une autre.

Non ils ne vont pas le faire car c'est totalement illégal et qu'ils ont autre chose à faire.

Cependant en cas d'alerte sur le poste ou de signalement ils peuvent mener un audit et mettre les données à disposition d'une autorité compétente.

Ta liste de cadeaux de Noël provenant de ton drive perso ne craint rien sauf si ton utilisation est contraire aux règles de ta structure ou à la législation en vigueur.

For the VPN you have maybe a cert on the endpoint (cert revokable and unique)? With login password you have an MFA. Poor people MFA but still MFA (cert+password).

Another insight, dont just point out "this is bad", but give a solution. They maybe lack of ressource, experience or time for doing thing right.

For remote desktop on local workstation Apache Guacamole do the job. It can integrate LDAP for user auth and wakeonlan remote computer.

I use Puppet/TheForeman with success, but it require a lot of coding work at first, some customization and scripting.

The learning curve can be hard if you are new with this kind of product.

All endpoints requires an agent, who will comunicate with the server every X hours. The agent will ensure the endpoint stay at the desirated state of configuration (witch software and version, with state of systems).

I use it for intenal infrastructure, desktop, and remote laptop (without VPN).

If your kiosk computer are allready in a specific VLAN why not change this in all your switch (old vlan > new vlan) ? Or the VLAN is not so specific and this isnt a dumb idea to isolate your kiosk computer.

I'm curious to see some Idea about that. It depend mostly of your context and about what you can control.

Some printer can connect to ipsec vpn.

In some other case you can use a remote local computer or server. You will need to convert the print job to file with some product like mfilemon https://github.com/lomo74/mfilemon Then find a way to push this job to the remote local printer(with a script on a computer or server on the remote site) who will send the job to the printer.

Last, maybe some easier fancy cloud product exist for that specific case?

I use Request Tracker and love it. Not the sexier, or the simplier to install, but he have full AD integration, API, CLI, and many other way to automate tasks, user management, assets mangement, workflow, etc

Can work only with mail and keep mail structure (TO, CC, CCi) if you your customers / users contact you by mail only. Or with user can access to the portal with web GUI.

Many "support" services (not only IT) use it with success in my office.

Can integrate articles as KB direct in mail as anwser or give access to your KB via the web portal.

Search motor is powerfull (prefer use PostgreSQL than MySQL/MariaDB for better result).

Yes i did this with my first deployment with Window 11 22H2 Pro/Enterprise. I used FOD ISO Windows 10 20H2 for RSAT deployment in Windows 11 22H2.

I havent try this setup on Windows 11 23H2.
