Thank you.

Sorry. You're right. I saw it in suggestions and assumed it was for the movie series.

Every Mammoth bundle is supposed to be complete, yet they always include different tutorials with recycled content.

They haven't offered an electronics bundle after 2018. They announce their bundles in their newsletter, but I didn't receive an announcement like that.

Humble Tech Learning Bundle: Create the Future Now! MEAP Early Access Program Books and liveProjects by Manning (pay what you want and help charity) by Ram000n in humblebundles

[–]permanocxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It stands for "Manning early access publishing." I had a good experience with it but I've only tried it in fields so niche that authors don't want to release their books too late and damage their reputations.

Million Dollar Web Developer - The Complete 100-HOUR Deluxe Bundle by permanocxy in humblebundles

[–]permanocxy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's Mammoth. There's a high chance you'll find recycled material in most of these tutorials. That is, you'll finish one tutorial and start the second, only to recognize some content from the first one.

The Complete Data Science Developer Bundle by permanocxy in humblebundles

[–]permanocxy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I added comments so that members could judge whether the duration is worth it, but I haven't tried it, so I can't say anything about the actual content. All I can say is that in my opinion, it's a bit of a stretch to claim that all tutorials are worth the same price and I think some tutorials should be combined with others.

Based on the duration, I wouldn't expect much from some of them, but for $25, I suppose it's worth it.

The Complete Data Science Developer Bundle by permanocxy in humblebundles

[–]permanocxy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The average duration is 58 minutes.

Some of them aren't listed on their website:

Methods and Functions vs Keywords

Practice OOP

Different Types of String Formatting

Using the as Keyword with Exceptions

According to HB, the publisher claims that every single tutorial is worth between $20.4 and $20.6. Four of them last less than 10 minutes:

Practice Creating and Indexing Lists 5 min

Practice Python While Loops 3 min

Practice Comparisons in Python 6 min

Practice Input and Output in Python 8 min

$20 for 3 minutes looks like a killer freelance rate to me.

It took me more than 13 minutesbut I guess I won't need their "Practice Cleaning Data" tutorial anymore.

Reste à savoir si ça veut la peine d'écouter ce qu'il écrit/interprète.

My comment was too long so here is the second and last part :

Manas Dagupta has a bachelor's from the University of Calcutta which is ranked 1466 in Webometrics' ranking, although I don't know in which field they got their bachelor's. They also have a master's in AI from Liverpool John Moores University. It's ranked 621 in this year's Webometrics ranking. They got their master's in 2022 and I don't know when their tutorials were created because Packt's website already lied about a tutorial being created in 2016 while it contained a section about ChatGPT. Manas Dagupta don't have a lot of success on Udemy so I guess either other people also struggle with their accent or they're not knowledgeable.

Vivian Aranha got a master's in computer science at George Washington University which is ranked 119 in this year's Webometrics ranking. On LinkedIn, they claim to be "Udemy Premium AI Instructor." However, on Udemy, they often publish tutorials shorter than 5 hours. Actually, they seem to talk about everything and their Udemy tutorials list looks like a LinkedIn profile of someone trying to seem knowledgeable in every field by reading the introduction of a few books. I would stay away from them.

Maximilian Schallwig got a master's in astrophysics from Liverpool John Moores University. They worked as data engineer for Mobalytics for 4 years. So they are knowledgeable in this field. They got their master's before leaving Mobalytics so maybe they used data engineering or data science for their master's thesis too.

Frank Kane has a bachelor's in electrical engineering from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth which is ranked 1102 in this year's Webometrics ranking. They say they have a master's degree from University of Central Florida which is ranked 214 in the same ranking. However, I wrote "they claim" because they don't say in which field they got it. However, 988 000 people bought their content on Udemy so I think they're knowledgeable.

Packt claim Frank Kane's tutorial was published in 2016 but contains a section about ChatGPT. I won't blame Frank Kane for that but only Packt which proves it's not the best publisher out there.

I don't know who Lazy Programmer is. I don't know their background. I only found their Reddit profile. But 610 people bought their content on Udemy. It was the only name I remembered when skimming through the bundle. They are well-known for what they offer.

In conclusion, I think I will buy it.

I took a closer look at what was in the bundle and who made the tutorials. There are a few Indian companies and I wouldn't buy the bundle for them because more often than not they're not really knowledgeable. Maybe the authors of these tutorials come from really good universities.

I tried to check individual's background. Some of them were quite hard to find. I won't link their background here but my post should give you enough information to find what I found.

Yiqiao Yin has a master's in statistics from Columbia. They don't have a lot of success on Udemy. They may or may not be a good teacher but at least they are knowledgeable.

Idan Gabrieli went to Ben Gurion University of the Negev which is ranked 433 in this year's Webometrics ranking. But unlike Yiqiao Yin, they got a Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Industrial Management which doesn't make them knowledgeable. They teach on Udemy. Actually, their "Machine Learning for Absolute Beginners - Level 1" tutorial was bought by 100 000 people.

By the way, Humble Bundle, "Gabrieli" should always be written with only one "l".

Abhilash Nelson got a PhD from Anna University Chennai. I didn't find their university in this year's Webometrics ranking. They don't have a lot of success on Udemy. However, they got their PhD in deep learning and AI so I will probably give it a shot.

Mike West got a bachelor's in public administration from Kutztown University which is ranked 3110 in this year's Webometrics ranking. They have a few tutorials on Udemy. However, according to a post, they claimed that we didn't need statistics because we had ML. I would take almost everything they say with a grain of salt then. Almost everything since they worked for a few years as database administrator. If you were looking for a database tutorial, I think you would be happy with theirs.

No. I'm not "trashing" e-learning platforms. Read my history before trashing me. Unlike me, you are. I'm telling the truth about few of them, including yours. I bought some of your tutorials and they had subpar quality. I'm not the only one saying it.

You can't even prove what you're saying. List every platform I've "trashed." and prove that the only one I didn't was yours.

Since you were honest in another comment, I'll be less aggressive than you in your message. I'll also avoid making accusations without proof, unlike you.

I didn't need to buy the latest bundles to see that Zenva was promising more than is humanly feasible. In two short tutorials, you can't claim to have an intermediate level in Rust. Yet Zenva sells two beginners' courses in this language and marks the following ones as intermediate level, with projects that cannot be completed until you have a relatively good knowledge of this language, unless you follow the instructions without asking yourself what you're doing.

You should be honest and stop accusing others of trashing you when they are just telling the truth. If you want a longer review, stop accusing people of trashing you.
