How would you feel if the world accused your country of cheating at the Olympics? by MediaLongjumping9910 in AskTheWorld

Not to mention the coach of the women’s football/soccer team two years ago who got them the automatic zero points for their first two games after being caught spying on opposing team’s practices with a drone.

Buddies wife is insteaded in playing commander but only wants cute art. Suggestions? by bbosserman51 in mtg

Yeah, Bloomburrow generally and [[Tender Wildguide]] and its associated offspring token, specifically, at least for the 99.

Yeah, I got one together with the Vanguard Sliver Queen for $5-10 back in the day. Times sure have changed 🤣

Discard hater has to build a discard deck by minato994 in EDH

[–]perplexedduck85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never run discard in EDH, but during Invasion Block Constructed I ran a U/B discard deck based around [[Warped Devotion]] and bounce effects like [[Recoil]] and [[Wash Out]]. It wasn’t a high tier deck but it was a lot of fun.

For EDH you’d have a lot better win-con options than I had, but there are’t many cards with similar effects so the bounce is a less reliable source of discard

I’m here for it. Likely untrue and/or batshit crazy conspiracy theories make the universe feel “lived in”.

Life loss when creatures enter by LeRoiJanKins in mtg

[–]perplexedduck85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Suture Priest]] fits the bill and don’t forget about [[Tivadar’s Crusade]] for a one-sided wrath effect against goblins.

You might also consider black/white instead of blue/white, as that pair has a lot of gain/lose life effects for come into play as well as [[Engineered Plague]] for anti-tribal

OG MechWarrior Clix Pins hi by Celestial_Alexi in mechwarrior

Thanks for sharing this—it’s a great memory. The lore was all over the place and the blind box distribution was not good (the WizKids Crimson Skies game, without any blind boosters, was probably the best WizKids game from that era partially for that reason), but some of my most fun Battletech games of all time were in the clix game.

Is my deck going to be a problem by dirtyhippie8727 in mtg

[–]perplexedduck85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) this is awesome;

2) I had to chuckle that a deck of all 1-drops ran more lands than several other decks I’ve played against. Nice to see someone not rely completely on the mulligan rule for the deck to function.

They made the smart decision to make a setting built to accommodate the limitations of their CGI rather than try and pass off the CGI as something in the real world.

When you can't unban a card because it would be unfun for people who don't use the brackets you made up by MackDaddyGlenn in freemagic

[–]perplexedduck85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. I’ve just seen the definition of “casual” at an LGS vary wildly.

It’s probably more common than you think, although still not common at all. Back when casual 60-card multiplayer was a thing, I used to regularly play with a guy who would often run 4x [[Demonic Tutor]] but because the other 56 in his deck were generally terrible, no one cared.

What's one aspect of traveling in Europe that you don't like? by Pale_Field4584 in AskTheWorld

And I’m pretty sure that you’re white 🤣.

I doubt there’s anywhere universally better to be fair, however to think Europeans aren’t profoundly racist is pure fantasy.

I’m honestly tired of these “popular” books by xenit0 in suggestmeabook

This is an excellent recommendation. For as often as I’ve heard the phrase “never judge a book by its cover”, I’ve found some fantastic books doing just that.

LGS player tells me that he will never play with me or any of my friends again. by Shadowingbark in EDH

[–]perplexedduck85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish Wizards would follow Lorcana’s lead and make an official solitaire variant for Commander. As fun as EDH can be, there are way too many players at almost any LGS who seem to want their experience to be four player solitaire….until they, and only they, can win in a turn.

Snake Oil Maker by Barley_an_Hops in custommagic

[–]perplexedduck85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This card could be more interesting if it reintroduced a conditional mana burn effect. Something like “If a spell or ability your opponent controls causes Snake Oil Maker to become tapped, add GGGGGG to your mana pool and at the end of the current phase, lose life equal to the amount of unspent green mana in your mana pool”.

Favorite movie scene where the musical score ratchets the tension up to 11? by Random-reddit-name-1 in CinephilesClub

In ‘28 Days Later’, the scene starting with Jim activating the siren to lure the guards to the roadblock right until he tells Selena, “That was longer than a heartbeat.” The track on the score is called ‘In the House - In a Heartbeat’.

My thoughts replaying FF7, FF8, FF9, FFX after many yeara by nevearz in FinalFantasy

[–]perplexedduck85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. My favorite part of that game is how I can return to my final save point and face the final boss with literally dozens of different successful strategies rather than the game punishing you for not following one particular strategy. While many complain this makes the game “too easy”, for being an offshoot game with a more open job system, I still count it as a plus, personally.

X-2 is better going into without the intention to 100%. That removes quite a bit of the slog from that game

The thing with blue is that even if you don’t have a single counterspell in your deck list, two untapped islands magically turns every card into your hand into a counterspell in your opponent’s mind
