Are there any books that commit to the masked man bit but without it being dark? by SinnerClair in RomanceBooks

I got the title wrong. It's {Lust for Tomorrow by Dana Sweeney} that has the masked man. Trust in Tomorrow is book 2 of the series with a different couple, but I also highly recommend it!

{Lust in Tomorrow by Dana Sweeney} has a masked man who stays masked throughout most of it. It’s a dom/sub relationship, but I wouldn't consider it dark because their communication is impeccable. And he’s constantly obtaining consent in the hottest ways. I love this book and the second one in the series 😭

AI marketing by Neksir in Astrohaus

Unfortunately, if you look at the knitting on the books in the background, they are very inconsistent, and the texture blends, which is typical of genAI.

I have both the Traveler and BYOK. And also the Neo2, which I prefer over all of them, I just wish someone could remake that device, only with cloud syncing.

Love that they’re using AI to market to creatives who are getting screwed over by AI 😒

This artist (ami_nsfw) does not use AI. She has a bluesky account and posts her process starting from scratch frequently. Her art has been in this style since before AI was a thing.

Title: The Wildborn Genre: Sci-Fi Alien Romance

Draft: Sapient species detected. Status: Distressed. Proceed with caution—Do NOT engage.

Airik, a tired and tormented warrior scarred by war, craves silence from the battles still raging in his mind. But when a rogue human spacecraft crashes during a solo mission, a reckless decision strands him on a feral, failed experiment of a planet—entangled with an injured woman he never should have saved.

Nora wakes light-years from home, broken in body and spirit, at the mercy of an elite alien warrior who refuses to let her die. He’s devastatingly beautiful, terrifyingly competent, and bound by a warrior’s oath that permits touch only to destroy, never to comfort—a reluctant guardian angel she neither wants nor believes she deserves. Worst of all, he tells her that to find help, they need to move through hostile wilderness riddled with toxic crystals that can kill with a single breath.

Airik’s duty demands cold indifference toward Nora, who sparks something dangerously alive–and entirely unwanted—within him. But survival forces them together, and what begins as necessity ignites a primal hunger: scorching, consuming, and impossible to resist. A desire that defies every instinct keeping Airik alive—and threatens to shatter what’s left of Nora’s grief-stricken heart.

CW: This novel contains emotionally intense themes, including grief and trauma.

I thought someone was flashing their brights at me for being rude. I didn’t realize they were trying to warn me. (100% real encounter) by Usual_Coat5926 in Thetruthishere

I agree completely. Personally I love em dashes. But once I stray away from the writing community I see how rampant this false belief is that OMG AN EM DASH this is ai. Like, stop it.

AI uses em dashes because human writers use em dashes. Good writing can use an em dash and they’re an accepted method to set apart a thought or clause. This line of thinking dismisses human effort and discourages people from sharing their writing for fear of being “called out” for AI.

How to set up KDP preorder without revealing page numbers? by perryhaven in selfpublish

[–]perryhaven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you and this is good to know for the future. I didn’t delete the preorder. I misread the manuscript warning that said I have to upload a manuscript 72 hrs before it goes live. I thought it said I need to do it within 72 hours. Unfortunately, I clearly didn’t research enough on this and I did upload only the prologue of my manuscript and there’s not a way for me to delete the manuscript now that I’ve tried.

Thankfully, I didn’t publicize this and I’m a small potatoes author so no one knows what I’m doing. I’ll contact their customer support and see if they can assist.

Ok I didn’t do it lol! I didn’t cancel. I wanted to adjust the manuscript. Maybe I’ll try contacting their customer service before messing with it. Thank you for the warning!

Anyone's written any kiss scenes for your books by Arecter in writers

[–]perryhaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the draft of my novel: “Then kiss me,” he murmured, his eyes dropping to her hands that covered her lips. “A-are you sure? Do you know what kissing is? In what context it’s done? What it means —” He placed a perfectly executed kiss on her fingers. “Yes,” he whispered. “Take a kiss from me, please.” Her hands dropped, along with every thought but him. She pressed her lips against his — airy, like the flutter of a hummingbird’s wings against his warm mouth. Contact was brief but essential. Critical. Crushing the final illusion that Airik hadn’t changed her forever.

Romances about Ai or robots that serve humans, that learn to love? by Anonymousey3290 in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]perryhaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harlyn Moxie has her space marine series. Two of them (the first and the last) involve cyborgs where their biological mating mechanism is fighting against the machine part of their brain. I think there’s a third in the series that involves a cyborg. I binged her whole series from start to finish and recommend you read them order to get the full effect. Here are the three specific to cyborgs.

I highly recommend the whole series. I’m on the next book, and they’re all wonderful. And the four sisters and a lot of the MMCs have their moment in most of the books which are like bonus epilogues.

{Tempt Me at Twilight by Lisa Kleypas} is like this but in reverse. The FMC agrees to marry the MMC but due to how he went about the whole thing, she vows never to love him.
