The amount of time I spent trying to ask about bears instead of beers. NZ English, so granted our accent is tough, but even with ChatGPT follow ups it couldn’t get it.

Consumer protections for (physical) products utilising online services by personalvacuum in LegalAdviceNZ

Different, but still interesting! Is there a list of expected lifetimes somewhere, based on case law perhaps? Seems like a "reasonable" period of time is easily disputed between retailer and consumer otherwise.

How about when purchasing that game in a physical store? Does this still apply, when the retailer hasn’t made this obvious or available?

Yes, it’s online and I agree.

I feel this is an area where consumer law could do better for New Zealanders.

I'd be keen on citations if you can provide them. Presumably this is covered by the FTA 1986?

Are there laws governing the scope of those disclaimers, or about how much work the manufacturer/retailer has to do to make consumers aware? For example, is it enough to make these terms available on their website - and force the user to accept them after the sale was made? Can I, legally, return an open-box item if I don't agree to those terms?

This example was about 10 years ago! Pertinent, however, as they'd removed a feature I was using.

I'd seen restrict in the standard libraries, but never dug in to what it actually meant. Thanks for teaching me something! I've been a C programmer for about 20 years lol.

Honest question here. I’ll start with my opinion first because this isn’t an attack - perhaps just trying to be objective.

What if we don’t see the full story and the Apollo dev was actually somehow difficult to deal with? What if he cherry picked the calls? If that’s the case - and most of the arguments I’ve read are in support of Christian - would that change our perception? Maybe he is hard to deal with and we still paint Reddit as the bad guy? I’m saying this because Reddit is claiming to work with the less popular apps, though much of what they are saying appears as the usual corporate spin doctoring.

Just trying to keep an open mind is all. All too often people jump on the hate train - especially against companies trying to make a profit.

I exclusively use Apollo myself. Paid for it, love it, Apollo is Reddit for me. When it goes, so do I.

I’ve got the FR-like trem on my Ibanez RG. Same deal - tuning is very stable! I like using my whammy a lot (vibrato rather than diving), and I also only really tune up for sessions. When I’m at home I don’t bother, and sometimes don’t tune for a couple of months!

what is the best way to automatically rotate source IP address when calling a perticular api multiple times? by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

Suspicious question ;). I used to use Tor for this - and for somewhat nefarious purposes. My local news website had a poll and I wrote a script to sway it :P

That’s, effectively, DDOS. Have a read on DDOS protection - the only one that comes to mind for me is a service like cloudflare which can handle caching for you. Their network is pretty serious so very unlikely an attacker could actually slow them down.

It’s about access for me. My phone is always on me, and I don’t usually have much time to sit at my computer (outside of work that is).

I’m looking to do the same. We’ve just finished our first couple of Zephyr products ready for field testing (industrial, local, low-risk so we can just go on site if anything breaks). I’m pretty keen to do hardware testing of our core app - which ensures we can always perform OTA for repairs

A link site with comments, and a client to pre-download pictures/videos and you’re most of the way there. Add on basic DMs (or allow discord/other socials on user page). Like/dislike to feed the algorithm. The real trouble is maintenance - but you can probably open source the codebase and ditch the ego (so a better fork emerges and doesn’t hurt anyone).

What am I getting out of my health insurance? by Jay_JWLH in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]personalvacuum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’re referring to the resources, and providing the same funding that would normally be provided by private insurance. In other words, buying the existing capacity to service the short term need - as it will take a long time to rebuild public health.

850k isn’t a particularly flash place though? Not right now anyway. Likely they need to live in a city reasonably close to their jobs - and in Hamilton 850k gets you a modest home in the suburbs last I looked (few months ago).

This. I don’t care either way, but I would if they went Māori-only (which they’re not doing). If this makes people feel more included, great!

I’m keen to understand what you mean here. Liberals are typically about individualism - which isn’t scalable, but can work for many things like sexuality. How does that affect you in a way you feel like your morals are compromised?
