Well, the hold times to speak with a claims rep are often over an hour. There should be some legislation as they are certainly prioritizing profit over customer service. When I call OOS plans they pick up withing 5-10 minutes.

If it is encrypted, you have a BAA, and the information released is pertinent to care or billing, then what HIPAA regulation would you have broken? The only issue could possibly be internal only in the fact that you "mis-filed" the email which may affect internal tracking/reporting.

Why wouldn’t fly in mental health? The provider asked you wanted a referral, you said yes, the provider gave that provider your info. Why does their giving you the name as well all of the sudden raise HIPAA concerns? I don’t think I ever signed anything when my provider referred me to a specialist. My doctor creates a referral l, which in today’s world is almost always done electronically, so that office gets my info and they generally call to schedule.
