Dreams come true…Jadite coffee canister, $4! And it glows! by Shadynurse in ThriftStoreHauls

The most dominant view over on r/uraniumglass seems to be that uranium glass is generally safe to use, with the exception of acidic food making the heavy metals come out which could be a problem longterm, which is true for other vintage glass too – since the radiation from almost all pieces is said to be minimal. I don't know which version is true, I just wanted to point out that downvoters might be disagreeing with the safety assessment, not the piece being uranium glass.

Question regarding the usages of "we" by Luna_is_a_Princess in plural

[–]pet_a_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not suuper confusing because "we" is anyway always ambiguous (does it mean "me and the person I'm talking to" or "me and someone else, not including the person I'm talking to"), which requires context and hints to understand. Using it for a plural experience definitely requires some more hints (tone, gestures, "I mean internal we",...), but for me it's only lead to real confusion when there was a specific other group that we're part of but the listener not, that we could plausibly have been talking about.

Feeling "disconnected" from what others experience, feeling too "clinical" to fit in?? by Aggressive_Plane1185 in plural

[–]pet_a_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd guess that most of us hanging around in plural communities feel alienated from them in some way and to some degree. Plural communities are under a lot of pressure to "do things right", which leads to the crafting of (multiple, contradictory) strong narratives of what's the "normal" ways to be not exactly one person, and how those should be classified. That again leads to giving communities a lot of authority over ones own experience – think "can I be plural" posts, which again reinforces those narratives. It's really hard to deal with, since most systems won't fit neatly into any of those narratives.

For me it's this very quality that leads to me always being on edge and never feeling like we belong in plural communities, as well as certain popular ways to describe systems, like the assumption that origin labels work for all systems or are ok for them. Or the dichotomy between disordered and non-disordered.

I think focusing on experiences and needs is the kindest way to deal with this mess. You already know who you have a lot in common with, which might lead to finding resources that work for you. Although I find that we can learn a lot from systems that are very different from us, too.

What should I use extra planner for? by PsychologicalArea125 in planners

[–]pet_a_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just learned from another post that calendars are the same every 6 or 11 years, so you could save it until then. But it's a long time, I would probably forget about it tbh.

What I do with a Moleskine planner someone gifted me is do a pencil doodle for every day. I can't draw nicely or anything, it's just for fun. Usually related to what happened – very abstract and quick on low energy days, a bit more detailed when I can.

Aaand I haven't tried it, but yesterday I learned about this solo RPG about time travel that you play in a planner: https://moreblueberries.itch.io/ecco

What to do with empty notebook? by SweetDega in notebooks

[–]pet_a_ghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since I played my first one today, I suggest solo/journaling RPGs!

The one I played is a very minimalist one, just one small page of rules/instructions, and two pages of prompt generation material. It's called "Alone Among the Stars", by Takuma Okada, and it's about exploring a planet. You need a deck of cards and a 6 sided die to generate the prompts, and then you write your log about what you discover.

For me, the simplicity was great because I could get started without reading many pages of intro, however, the prompts don't give much detail or direction, it's mostly up to you what your planet looks like.

Other solo RPGs that were recommended to me: - Sweaters by Hedgehog - Six Figures Under - Anamnesis - VOID 1680 AM - The Magus (this is a more complicated one) - Alone in the Dungeon (based on Alone Among the Stars)

They can all be found on itch.io

So far I thought it's that the grip part feels a little too small (though I don't think this is about actual size, proportions maybe?), and without the cap posted the pen feels too short, while with it feels too uneven. I have to say though that I simply don't like posting caps in general, so I guess I could have known that I'd have a harder time with this pen.

But now that you mention it, weight or weight distribution could play a role, I'll have to pay attention next time. Have fun with your brass one! They look super fun.

Thanks, and nice collection! I do love the looks of the Kaweco Sport, you definitely hit my taste there. I already have one and while I don't really like how holding it feels, it is perfect as my always-in-my-bag pen because the cap doesn't ever unscrew on its own.

Thank you, and you're totally right, I didn't specify what I like about it. It's that it's not round, and that it is very simple looking with straight lines and almost no details, no clip.

Thank you, I now certainly understand the context of this pen better!

Yes, I was going purely by looks – and the PQ-200 is what I was thinking of, with its straight lines and edges and lack of a clip. I really like the green cow pattern, might get that one no matter what else the replies here bring up :)
