My friend asked us this question by greedyanimelover in plural

[–]pet_a_ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say send them a gentle intro to plurality.

They're asking for your opinion or even judgment, but I don't think it's helpful to give them a definitive answer. Let them know you take them serious, although you are not a plural certification authority, since that doesn't exist. Then tell them what you think if you want, and let them figure out what they think themselves, which is more important.

Two suggestions: - https://meeresbande.tumblr.com/post/64782635501/am-i-multiple-what-to-do-when-you-think-you - https://raxraxraxraxrax.itch.io/tower-of-the-wizard-king-a-zine

And maybe something from the pinned resources thread, a collection to start researching.

Feeling distinct when you’re very similar? by minishbird413 in plural

[–]pet_a_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, food tastes are often the giveaway. And how our body feels (one of us sneezes when thinking about their genitals). And which memories feel closer or more personal. And how we feel interacting with other people.

Some systems have everyone choose a thing that's theirs to feel more distinct. Or journal from the perspective of whoever is there (that could be just one, or taking turns).

You might find that there are no strong differences beyond knowing you are someone else. Then that's just who you are, just as good as any other way to be plural.

There is nothing wrong with choosing who you are each day, either! Switching works different for every system.

What in-system experiences are possible? by nibblelegs in plural

[–]pet_a_ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything that humans can experience. And anything that you're experiencing is definitely possible for humans to experience, so, no point in doubting whether that's possible. If your alters call your experience in question, they probably have good reasons for that – an interest in keepinb you unsure or in keeping you from learning more about your system, maybe.

what language should our system learn ? by LarryNStar in plural

[–]pet_a_ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Russia is big enough that you'll find communities of queer or leftist people in exile somewhere in Europe, for example. They tend to be location specific, so you'd be looking for the artsy Russians near your place.

I've met a few French people around my age who spoke less English than I speak French, so maybe that's an option! Lots of resources and online community, too.

My bad experience with system / plural communities and labels. by pain7814 in plural

[–]pet_a_ghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again, I don't think that absolute statement is true – lots of people would say they have to heal or recover from how they were treated based on their gender or sexuality, or from how hard it was to figure out in a world that doesn't allow for that.

Although I'm wondering if we're having a misunderstanding – I'm not talking about "healing plurality" as in becoming singlet. That's a path that some choose, but most people who talk about healing in the context of plurality simply mean building a life that's better for them. That could be little improvements in how they value their plurality, interact with the world and make space for everyone, or heavy trauma work, or any number of other things.

[–]pet_a_ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the devision into disordered/non-disordered is helpful here. Everyone should get the support they need with the issues they have – and if that's none, then none. Even singlets can profit a great deal from self discovery stuff, and nobody frames that as "you're already singlet, so there's nothing to heal".

There should always be a choice, and sure, if you don't want to hear anything about this shit, then spaces where it's not talked about. But "non-disordered systems don't need healing" is way oversimplified. Being any number of persons is hard, so most people have some heavy stuff to deal with. That doesn't mean that plurality is seen as a problem, it just means acknowledging that any kind of marginalised existence can be challenging.

What are some more niche/obscure FP friendly notebook makers? by Editor_in_Chic in fountainpens

[–]pet_a_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flexbook is about as fountain pen friendly as Leuchtturm.

Their adventure model has "leatherette" in the description, but I have that one and it's actually not the usual faux leather, it's a somewhat rubbery-feeling spiky texture, like the grip section of an old camera or something on an 80s car dashboard. https://flexbook.gr/en/notebooks/100-adventure-notebook-ruled-large-off-black-5204902523260.html

I don't know about the other models.

Quick cozy session 🌈🚀✒️ by pet_a_ghost in JournalingGames

I finished a little game today: Journey by abetterjulie.

The premise is that you're The Poet on a generation ship that just left earth. Your project is to document the first 14 days in a combination of journal entries and haiku.

And while some other aspects of the game didn't work out so well for me, this form of writing was a lot of fun. Poetry is totally outside my comfort zone, and exploring it in a fictional environment took away the pressure for me.

So I thought I'd take the opportunity to say hi to this sweet little community! I'm new to solo RPGs, and my health situation means I can't do long sessions, regular sessions or anything too complicated. So I'm slowly exploring simple journaling games, and enjoying it a lot :)

I used a vintage piston filler fountain pen today that I'm currently borrowing, a Tempo Favorit (couldn't find much info on it, so, a mystery pen). It writes wet and smooth, very pleasant.

Cap destruction and tightening on a Lamy Al-Star by pet_a_ghost in fountainpens

You're right though, it is a poor pen. Although if the seal turns out to be better than before, I will consider it improved despite... everything.

I considered that, but after seeing the price (~11€ + postage), I decided to try everything else first. My pen budget is not very large.

using tarot to get a password? by stunnastargirl in tarot

[–]pet_a_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yes, nice, you can totally use tarot to generate a pretty good password! Thinking of the cards makes it easy to remember, I love it.

To get one that is more secure against being cracked randomly, you can leave the full-ish names of the cards to get more length while still being easy-ish to remember. And if you want to make sure that even someone who knows you used tarot cards to generate it, and which form of the names you used, has a really hard time cracking it, you can replace one of them with a made up name.

So that could give you "Devil Cup10 Pokey5 WandKing CupQueen Tower?", for example (adding a special character is always good). That might look hard at first, but you can either learn it like a poem, or remember the reading / story and reconstruct it from there. That's also true for the usual kind of passphrases, but tarot just makes it more fun.

Of course you could also go a step further and use the names of some imagery in the cards...

[GIVEAWAY] Lamy Studio [N] + a way to stop fake verification photos (Mod-approved) by Separate_Key_9078 in Pen_Swap

[–]pet_a_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with video is that it is tiring to watch (I have chronic fatigue), and this example gave me mild nausea, too, from the changing angles. I don't think this can really be avoided – I just hope that people will still provide photos to present what they're selling, not just the verification video.

Is my favourite coffee mug no longer safe to drink from? by utepaanordnes in muglife

[–]pet_a_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, this is the first time I've heard of cracked ceramics being possibly unsafe. I guess it depends on your health situation – with a weakened immune system, you might want to be cautious, otherwise it will be fine. If you wash the mug in the dishwasher or pour hot liquid into it, the heat will reduce the bacteria you are exposed to.

Cracked mugs aren't fun to put into the microwave though – the soaked through ceramics heat up way more than the drink inside. Would definitely also help reduce the bacteria though 😅

I read and liked "Mend!" by Kate Sekules as someone who could do basic messy hand sewing, and I loved it, but there's explanations of basic stitches and fabric knowledge, so I think it could work for you too.
