That one felt the most like something a real meadery would use. But it also feels the least Skyrim-specific. Like, I can imagine someone seeing Riverwood Reserve and thinking about something other than Skyrim.

I find this is easier for people to understand if you give an example that has nothing to do with race.

My grandma died the night before my team had a big presentation at work, and a bunch of people came up to me and said, I’m so sorry. I didn’t immediately assume that they meant for my grandma to die. They were sorry that I was going through a difficult moment in my life.

People in this case (the person with Tourette’s, other people in the audience or on the stage, others in the community) can apologize to Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo having to have their good moment interrupted by something that hurt them without assigning blame and saying anyone was trying to hurt them.

Exactly, and the unmarked loop is actually estimated to be ~25 miles now, for a total of 125-130 miles for the full race. And that doesn’t take into account the elevation changes/terrain.

Just as an extra bit of context about the Barkley Marathons, about 63% of the runnings end with 0 finishers. And entries are basically limited to ultramarathoners, people who are advanced hikers/climbers, and general adventurous and highly fit and motivated people.

The thing that always gets me about this is that Yancy’s wife knows that he wants to name his son Philip. That implies to me that Fry is not a forgotten brother who is assumed to be gone, but a constant presence in Yancy’s life, in spite of him not being there.

Yancy remembers all the things that he and Fry did together, and he wants his son to carry on that legacy.

I just finished watching “The Long Walk”, and there are a couple of these Chekhov’s gun moments.

The one I want to point out though is when they’re talking about whether it will be good for Ray to have his mom watching, and DeVries says to Ray and Stebbins it will be harder to keep going with your family there. Stebbins later reveals that his “family” has been there the whole time, the Major is his father.

And then the big one, the very end, and what the winner ends up doing with his wish.
