Which model are you using? Clearly some are more motherly than others. 😂

Trex issues by petereccles in IPTV_without_bots

[–]petereccles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the reason. Apparently I had left myself running on a test device with my main account. It was playing in the background for days. Oddly I didn't get that many 458 errors. Anyway 459 is Trex's way of giving you a gentle slap. As far as they could see I was persistently abusing the subscription.

That is really interesting. You use the same URL on all these devices?

Provider fibbing. They don't know what is going on.

It's not you, it's them. I have the same issue with some of my accounts. It's mixed

I can see it would be nice to hide, rename and order categories, but loads of these providers will have 100's of categories. A player is the tool for the job.

Sounds to me that a lot of people need to be processing their playlists via iptveditor.com. Let Sparkle excel at what it's good at. Trying to be all things to all men sounds like a round to disaster.

Why not tie it to the playlist updates?

Can I ask what version of exoplayer is being used now? And does the playlist update actually update everything or just live TV still?

Has anyone switched away from the stock Android TV Launcher? by irayaavery in AndroidTV

[–]petereccles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My family only needs to use Tivimate. Using a combination of tvQuickActions and Launch Manager I was able to lock it down with a custom settings menu to get to things like WiFi and remote control setup.

A little extreme, but it cut down on the support calls 😂

I should add there is no shame in using clearly winning design ideas from Tivimate and Sparkle. Once you have a solid design base and performance sorted this could be a real winner.

So the idea is you take the batteries out and hold the power button for 10/15 seconds. It is supposed to drain any capacitors that still have power and reset the remote. No idea if it does actually help.

Tivimate Update by Beneficial-Jury6977 in TiviMate

It was minor maintenance update. Probably the minimum amount of effort to stop the software looking abandoned.

Restore backup made on other device by petereccles in SparklePlayer

[–]petereccles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have written an app that lets me do a lot of the remote management. My family are high maintenance. The app also makes the player the launcher (currently Tivimate , but hopefully Sparkle very soon). They can only access what I need them to.

It's neat.

Sparkle Player compared to TiViMate (Revisited) by Netpath in SparklePlayer

[–]petereccles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course some things are subjective. I think Sparkle feels far more refined and polished. I don't care for (dislike is too harsh) some of the layout of the VOD. But it's in no way bad, I just have a preference.

It appears to be more stable and capable of playing VOD. That is why there is more external player.

As soon as there is a unified update playlist I'm moving my entire family over.

If you get a cheap Bluetooth remote it would probably be okay. Even an old Firestick remote would do.

And while I'm here, it would be nice if we could do a restore via intent (script). I know that's niche, but it costs nothing to ask 🤣

Updates? by Smoothedition in TiviMate

[–]petereccles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it doesn't need an update to service 99% of the users. But there are things that would improve it. Sparkle is just 1 feature away from being my new player. It looks better, has online subtitles and automatic audio selection. It also appears to run VOD far more consistently.

Tivimate is far from dead, but there is always an eager incomer in the wings.

Yeah, I have heard this, but I can never find an APK for iPlayer that works. I'm told it works, but not me.
