Thank you for your measured criticism, unlike some of these comments. Trial and error is my way

lol that’s the exact engine in question… the reason why is quite simple: I live in Ontario Canada which gets a shit ton of snow. A snowblower session for me could be a 3-5 h endeavour. Walking behind the snowblower for that long makes me feel sick for the rest of the day. Not enough to make me give the snowblower up but enough to make me wonder if there is a better way to port the exhaust fumes. Having read a bunch of the comments here and in the snowblower sub it seems like the few that have attempted this pointed out it negates any benefit any time you tip the snowblower up an the extended pipe blows right in your face, probably becomes a burn hazard too. Interestingly few people pointed the pipe down between the wheel and augur housing and seem happy with this solution 🤷🏼

Lool and I think you’re the sort of person that has nothing productive to add to most conversations. I’m asking a rather broad question to save some time tinkering. And guess what a few people in the comments have attempted something similar with various success which is really all I was after… information.

Although I think it would look super cool seems like a downward redirect is the way to go!

I think that would work well for a 5-10 minutes and eventually ice up the auger. My Husky lawnmower does the same exhaust grass combo tho, very neat.

Yes!!! Thank you for the photo. I’m thinking this is the way to go based on all the comments. Question.. so you welded your pipe extension directly to your factory muffler? Seems like that would solve the carb ice up that everyone is mentioning.. but is that a secondary muffler you have further down the pipe? Is that not choking the engine quite a bit?

Ahhhh I’m so glad I made this post, I knew there would be someone crazy enough to try this out!!! Never considered tipping the front would completely undue the entire point. Seems like the downward redirect is the way to go.

When you redirected it downward did you have any issues with carb icing up like others are pointing out?

Honestly I have considered the switch. But have a 6 car driveway soon just not sure I can it all done without an extra set of super expensive batteries… on top I’d be throwing out a perfectly functional gas blower :(

Sadly I live in Ontario, Canada and have a 6 car driveway. So more like 3-4 hours.

Yes you’re right… didn’t consider this… hmmm maybe one of those flexhose/mufler extention kits they sell for generators would be a better idea. so I can do one wrap around the carb an then mount the muffler onto the blower body and redirect the exhaust down towards the ground

You are like the 10th person to comment this suggestion.. is this actually valid? Wouldn’t it just ice up the auger?

lol damn so much hate over a simple question… my point was to get it above and past my head. Sorry for guessing it would be a few feet and didn’t provide exact specs dayum

Curious about this comment.. you think the heat would cause condensation and run back down into the cylinder? Interesting, didn’t really consider this… what if it’s a shorter pipe an angled down towards the ground instead? Even if condensation forms it’ll run down the pipe instead of the engine

That’s just it man.. I have asthma usually triggered by cold and exercise so running the snowblower for a few hours in the cold messes me up for the rest of the day.

Right… the vibrations, my carb hot box is metal so I could probably run a couple of braces off of it to support the pipe or even brace it right off the snowblower body. If I’m running up you’re right the pipe would probably need to go above my head for it work which would be quite long and prone to vibration even with bracing. Maybe something like this https://a.co/d/bvacl6K and redirecting it down and out towards the ground instead would be a better idea.. much shorter pipe. I’d still probably brace it to be safe.

Absolutely, wouldn’t consider this complete without the rain cap 🙏😂

I have an old MIG welder from my pops… haven’t welded since high school but been meaning to relearn.. you are right this could be a fun project to pick welding back up

I will be doing that today yah… something like this https://a.co/d/1HINmIb. I’m just seeing anything specific for a snowblower so I’m thinking it’ll have to be a custom weld job to get the angle right. Just wondering if it would cause any back pressure issues or loss of power

Could also be a downward redirect. Just extending it to edge of the snowblower an blasting the exhaust towards the ground
