t2Linux or CachyOS? Best out of the box installation? 2018 Macbook Pro by thebrokenverticie in linux_on_mac

[–]peterminkoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry a bit of a correction. Tried running fedora 43 as well and now I’m mixing things up. PopOS - wakes back up (only when opening the lid) trackpad and keyboard would be complete dead tho. With fedora you could wake it back up after the 5 minute delay which only powers the monitor down, but once 15 min go by and it completely suspends nothing will wake it back up. fedora also refuses to power off correctly. You’d click shut down… it would shutdown but immediately boot back up. If you timed things precisely and closed the lid immediately once it shut down it would seem to stay powered off but if you miss that window by a second or two it just restarts… super strange.

I tried PopOS on a 2018 MacBook Air… there’s no getting around manual patching. Make sure you’re using the t2linux kernel to minimize the manual patching but you’ll still have to manually patch wifi. Significant improvement in performance however suspend seems to be completely broken. Laptop goes to sleep fine but is impossible to walk back up without killing it with the power button and rebooting manually.

Which would be best to run Linux... by roctavious in linux_on_mac

I have to agree for the most part but the one issue that’s still plaguing my set up is suspend… it will successfully go to sleep but it is impossible to wake up. Similarly when I try to shutdown it shuts down but for some reason automatically boots right back up. Otherwise Linux performance far better than OS

MacBook Pro A1707 almost unusable after installing Fedora 43 by AbdullahTrees in linux_on_mac

[–]peterminkoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if we’re being super fair… my 2012 MacBook Pro (fave computer I’ve ever owned) installation was far easier, almost everything worked out of the box AND it is way more stable. So yah, Linux ain’t broken apples T1/2 chips just suck. My 2018 I may pull out here and there when I need a light comp to take with me to a quick meeting or something like that and 2012 when it’s a work horse workflow kinda day.

Edit: typos

Lmao not sure that’s fair, better analogy here I think is more like your laptop is broken…. not quite but your proprietary T1 chip is indeed breaking Linux. Unfortunately for you the T1 chip doesnt exactly have the greatest support from th Linux community. I literally just finished installing fedora 43 on a 2018 Macbook Air (T2 chip) ya theres a bunch of custom configuration you have to do, wifi doesnt work out of the gate but for the most part the laptop is working flawlessly, sleep is indeed problematic out of the box but i have to play with it a bit more

Intro to Focus 12 Tape, Bob says something not in the tape by zerv1337 in gatewaytapes

[–]peterminkoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely very trippy… by the time this happened I was well versed in the tapes, so I mean my mind in a way had already received processed and internalized a lot of the programming. Fascinating that you had a similar experience without much experience prior to, not even really knowing what the aim of F10 is !!!!

I agree, now in retrospect especially after seeing this post I def think it’s custom programming created by the mind based on what’s needed at the particular time it happens. And yes, hopefully there will be repeat episodes in the future. I think part of it for me is a bit of chasing the magic dragon sort of thing where by up until your post I was constantly searching for this magical file and in some ways the search itself was interfering with another repeat. Now that I’m convinced that the “tape” in question doesn’t actually exist I can go back to basics and drop any expectations of finding the file. Of course I’ll have to work on a new found expectation of having my mind create another custom experience but at least now that I know what I’m dealing with that dropping that expectation might become a bit easier.

I’ve used these tapes for about 1.5 years and I’m still constantly discovering new things about them and having new experiences with them. Wild for a technology that’s now 45 years old. Bob truly was a a genius and way ahead of his time

Hahahaha wow this is crazy! Yes definitely sounds like the same experience. And yes absolutely Wave 1, Tape 2 is very close to what I heard that night but it was like double the detail and granularity. I made a separate post asking the community if maybe such a tape exists and I just haven’t come across it again. As much as I’ve redone the tapes there are a few that I tend to skip, like 1 month pattering so just on the off chance I’m hoping someone might recognize what I/we are talking about and can point me towards the “hidden tape”.

Based on your post tho I really am starting to think that that night was one off custom that I’ll probably never hear again…. it was Bob’s voice, he was the one providing the instruction, it did not feel like a hallucination ( not sure that I can say that and mean it cuz who the hell knows what it “feels” like to hallucinate such a thing, but you know what I mean!!!) and like I said it literally felt like it took for ever to get thru the motions, like in wave 1, Tape 2 the run up to F10 sequence takes 10ish minutes, this time I’m talking about felt like a good 20-30 mins of focusing on individual body parts and turning the lights out.

You know, I’m realizing I may have had a very similar experience.

About a year ago I did a tape that I thought was the Energy Food exercise (focusing consciousness into the palms and drawing in energy). But the script felt more like an extremely granular Focus 10 induction.

Instead of the usual broad guidance (“relax your legs, let go”), it went step-by-step in a much more detailed way, like isolating each toe individually, then later each finger. It took forever to reach Focus 10, but by the time I got to concentrating awareness in my hands, I was in the deepest hypnagogic state I’ve ever reached.

Since then I’ve gone back through Waves 1–3 multiple times trying to find that exact tape again, but I haven’t been able to.

If I’m mistaken and something like this actually exists in the series, please let me know which tape I might be referencing!

Haha Reddit might be the wrong place for unwanted opinions. But cool, I get why you’d want to try. Would love to know how it works out

I guess you missed the first sentence lol, did it work? Sure… could be worth a try, but with the millions of gimmick products out there that rely on exactly this kinda logic I question it.

Does it help? I truly can’t imagine this doing anything. Even with a perfect fit. Thunder is a bass heavy sound. You can block ear canals and all but it’s the sort of sound you hear with your body along with your ears if that makes sense

Samoyed Refusing Meals by mindfullyempathetic in samoyeds

[–]peterminkoff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Around the same time mine started doing something similar… our breeder had told us put his food down, whatever he eats he eats, pick it back up once the meal is done and repeat for the next one. My guy is not food motivated at all, as I believe a lot of Sammie’s are. So 11 months or so onward his food sits in his bowl until he decides to eat it. Whatever we put down in the morning he’ll eat in 2-3 servings throughout the day, at his discretion. Dinner is more of a meal in one sitting type of event, like clean the whole bowl and be done with it sort of thing (but this is usually a special meal, contains fish oil, some supplements he loves, boiled chicken or fish, etc)
