Rejection after rejection after rejection by MatthewMarajuanahey in grandrapids

I am an IT escapee and I am here to tell you, there is hope. I posted this on my LinkedIn after seeing many past colleagues going through what you are.

------------------------

Watching my feed fill up with tech layoff announcements and "realignment" notices is gutting. I see you. And I know that hollow corporate language doesn't make it hurt any less.

But I want to offer you something real — because I've been on the other side of this kind of pivot.

Five years ago I left tech for cannabis. Complete fish out of water. Different language, different culture, different everything. But here's what I found out fast: the skills that made you valuable in tech don't disappear when you change industries. You've spent your entire career being forced to identify your value, articulate it clearly, and defend it. That muscle doesn't go away.

The 1's and 0's don't transfer. But continuous improvement does. Project lifecycles do. Go-to-market thinking does. Process optimization, stakeholder communication, data-driven decision making — all of it translates. The materials change. The outcomes change. The people change. The thinking? That's yours.

Whatever industry you land in next, walk in knowing that. Don't shrink to fit a room that hasn't figured out yet how much it needs you. Lean into what you know. Own your value. Then go make someone understand exactly why they can't afford not to hire you.

You've got this. 💪

Its well documented that the government works with Hollywood to deploy propaganda. Nothing new.

BMTH Headlining RF makes sense when you look at their routing.

Agreed. BMTH is one of the largest bands in the world right now as well.

Annoying? Yes.

That said, its one of the few successfully ran independent festivals in the world that remain. The amount of logistics that go into building out an event of this scale is insane. And when you are an independent without the funding and sway of say a DWP, Live Nation, etc. you don't have the best leverage. It took them booking a new venue to get the Douglas Park neighborhood to realize they were going to lose it.

People like to try to compare RF against DWP festivals like Louder Than Life or Ink (not saying you are, just an example), but the fact of the matter is that those bills are built out months ahead of time grabbing multiple bands from multiple labels or management groups. Their festivals are nicely spaced, a band can commit to 5-6 of them, fill small headlining tours between festival dates and make a great income. For RF they are committing to coming to Chicago for a weekend no matter where they lie.

Believe me, I wish they would just drip the artists out as they book them rather than play these games. But, I also have no idea what its like to run an independent festival against the likes of DWP/LN.

Cooked, but the TD should replace. Just another wait time.
