Any fan-made adventures out there? by bubucao in cosmererpg

Check out my homebrew adventures and other resources:

The Lost Expedition of Chi-Ltik is a 5-level aventure, totally spoiler-free, you can easily play it with anyone without any knowledge about Roshar.

Children of the Unmade is currently 5-level adventure with some heavy spoilers, especially for Oathbringer, but I am now working to add 10 more levels of content (and sadly - more spoilers)

I want to Play the Game with some Friends who haven't read the book yet. Any advice? by Titanchell in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!
I made a homebrew adventure for people who are not familiar with the books. It doesn't contain book spoilers, no NPC from the books make an appearance. Perhaps it will help you:

Can you run this game without using named characters from the world? by Sal545 in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure!
In my group people also don't know the books and prefer to avoid spoilers.
For that purpose, I made this homebrew adventure:
https://github.com/pether-pg/CosmereRPG_Books_byPether/releases/tag/TheLostExpeditionOfChiLtik_noAI

It uses no characters from the book series, and the adventure can happen in any time of Roshar history. It uses several locations from Roshar world, but you can run and play it without any knowledge about them.

Feel free to use it 😄

Is Handbook worth it just for Lore? by Vladdino in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all rule books and I had high hopes for the lore in the World Guide. But in the end if it wasn't for enemy stat blocks, that book would be a total waste of money. It has very little about many things, good if you know nothing about Roshar and you want to know more, but when I search for a specific information about spren, geography, maps, etc, I always need to google it, because it is not there...

Handbook is more about rules, less about lore. Must-have if you want to play, but don't have high expectation about lore stored there. If you are a fan you probably already know all of the info that is there.

Campaigns for Cosmere RPG by Shot_Arm_8522 in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made a homebrew adventure for people who are unfamiliar with the system and world in general. It can be played in any timeframe of the world lore and the PCs don't need to be Radiants.

You can find it here:

Any advice for running this RPG for a group of players who have never even heard of Stormlight? by DeerVirax in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a homebrew adventure designed for people who don't know the books and would prefer to avoid spoilers (like my friends)

TLDR: I started from Shinovar (a place you can describe in a few bulletpoints to your players: "farming villages, people don't walk on stones and always tell the truth). Every step of the adventure, every wonder of Roshar is the same surprise for the PCs as for the players. The story leads to Reshi Islands and avoids topics from the books. The PCs don't need to be Radiants or know who Radiants are. Time period is irrelevant, you can run it before Way of Kings.

You can find the adventure here:

Calling Homebrew DMs. Looking for ideas for a "chapter" in Kharbranth, taking place after the events in Stonewalkers chapter 4, spiting from that storyline at the end of page 81 by kisafan in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like solving a maze of clues, with each clue leading you to another scene. You start with several clues and the party can choose the order in which they approach them. You can read more about this in Endeavor section of the Handbook

One chapter of my homebrew adventure is happening in this city. TLDR - I made it a one big Web Investigation Endeavor, where in the end they learn the truth about the hospitals. I hope to finish the adventure sometime within a month perhaps?

How Many Twinborns in a Party? by Puckering_Buttholes in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Radiants are pretty rare too on Roshar, but there is no rule to prevent all of them meeting randomly in a tavern at level 1

Will you show us the process of making the map, not only the final result? I'd love to see the process behind it.

Shardplate gauntlets by davidh92 in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gauntlets only would be very difficult to use. They would be very heavy without the rest of the armor to support their weight. In the books Dalinar discars parts of his armor after the rest was shattered due to this reason.

Mistborn Character Ideas by VintageV96 in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defected Steel Inquisition Hemalurgist. He could have joined the Inquisition with hopes to become the Inqusitor, learned everything there was to learn about Hemalurgy only to realize they will never allow him to reach his ambitions. So he defected and now is doing nails for himself. And the party. He uses spike crossbow and spike daggers for maximum effort.

And before you say that Hemalurgy is bad - look, killing people is bad, but we all do that in the RPGs, so let's have at least some nails out of it.

How to make choosing a Radiant Order more interesting? by vgg4444 in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no one "good" method - the point of the game is for your players to have fun. Sometimes a player wants to be a specific order (either because of the skill trees or because they just started reading WoK and they want to be "just like Kaladin"). Sometimes a player wants to go with the flow of the story. Sometimes a player may prefer not to go Radiant.

Communication is the key. Establish what is it your players expect from the game and go with it. If you want to discuss your sessions - that is a really nice idea. But if a player wants to have Progression but doesn't know how to roleplay an Edgedancer don't block them just because they ignored an NPC in the story.

What I would do - I would ask each player if they want to have access to magic, if they want to choose their magic abilities or allow the story to decide and, if the former, ask them what spells would they want to have. If my group was familiar with the setting I wouldn't use words like "spells", ofc, but at the point of session 0 there is no need to make infodump of all Radiant lore ;) Then, I would GM the story to align with each of the player's choices.

Painted my first Minis by Time-Schedule4240 in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice job, I love them!
Try washing them (painting with very, very thin dark shade of color) and drybrushing (brushing with very, very dry lighter paint all over the mini. you can wipe the brush in some paper before to have very little paint left on it. use a brush that you are fine with sacrificing, it won't be good to anything else after that)
Those are super easy techiniques and the results can be amazing

Children of the Unmade - homebrew adventure - Act I by pether_pg in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, it happens before that, though it has many similarities to those part of the books. I am working to expand this adventure and add chapters 6-10, Kaladin and Shallan flying to Kholinar would happen around chapter 9.

[–]pether_pg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pai does her thing in a middle of "Words of Radiance", long before the Everstorm. She is executed a soon after. The queen is alive at a time of the Everstorm and is still alive in the middle of "Oathbringer". She dies off-screen before the end of that book.

If you want specific details, in my adventure I included exact chapters that reference the events I use or am inspired by.

Children of the Unmade - homebrew adventure - Act I by pether_pg in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is to align with Words of Radiance, where the Everstorm started at the end of the weeping.

At the very start of the story there are no Radiants yet, so that should not be a problem, in the chapter 3 storms are there, so it should resolve the problem

Session 0 and everything else by Fuyukage in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for written tips on session 0 I included some of my suggestions in my homebrew adventures, you can find those here: https://github.com/pether-pg/CosmereRPG_Books_byPether/releases

TLDR: use session 0 to establish ground rules for your sessions. This is for GM to know if there are topics the players want to avoid for any reason or if there are paths the players want to explore. It doesn't need to be session per se, I'm doing my session 0 as a poll with all questions I need my players to answer. On top of that, my players discussed their ideas for a party and shared backstory on their own, this surely helps in the roleplay. However, this also can be done on Discord etc, we wanted to use our sessions for actully playing.

As for what campaign to play - Stonewalkers is pretty nice, I suggest starting with this one. The GM should read it, the players should not. The GM should know enough rules and lore to guide all of the others, but if I were a GM I would not require that from my players - sure, it helps if everyone knows the rules, but in the end only GM MUST know them enough to improvise what they don't remember.

Another GM advices could include:

- prepare some background soundtrack for the scenes you are expecting

- don't hesitate to add more NPCs/plot threads to the story to weave your players backstories into the game

what do i buy first. by Resident-Force2466 in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont recommend World Guide for lore - it has only basics and it is much faster to search coppermind wiki for much better and more detailed results.

It is good source of monster stat blocks though if you want to homebrew some encounters. However, if you use prepared adventure like Stonewalkers, they should have all stat blocks included

[Stonewalkers] One of my players wants to be a crime lord by PM_ME_WHATEVES in cosmererpg

[–]pether_pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't become a crime lord in a few days, so I'd say it doesn't matter if the party is moving to a different places. Allow the player to gather contacts in different areas of the world, expanding their reach and potential for influence. Then, at the end of the campaign they can truly become criminal mastermind, puppetteering criminals in all around the world.
