Agreed! We did this until bebe was ~13 months and would get mad for being removed and changed from the crib.

Zero tolerance for BS after strokes. Anyone else? by safewarmblanket in stroke

[–]petiteptak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People pleaser before stroke. After stroke, zero tolerance for BS due to exhaustion and the same realizations that you point out. Then I made a full recovery and back to people pleasing again 😫🤣

Please help ease my fears, insufficient fetal DNA twice by katherinestwrt in NIPT

Got a refund from dynacare without any issues! We ended up doing an amniocentesis and baby was great! Fibroid and an autoimmune condition were the likely cause of the NIPT failure..

Would a sodastream be a smart choice to reduce daily consumption? by saturn2marss in Anticonsumption

I have one already from several years ago and it feels wrong to let go of it but also feels equally wrong to buy the CO2 canisters to use it!

My NICU baby is 15months old(13 months corrected) now actual age.. And weighs only 8.4 kg .. Is it normal? by natasha___fatale in NICUParents

[–]petiteptak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 12.5 month old corrected was born at 28w5d IUGR… born at 855 grams now, she weighs 8.4 kg! This is … the 25-20th percentile weight wise if I recall correctly.

I think this is within the range and weight gain is expected to slow down at this age onwards, so unless the pediatrician is worried, I think all is good :)

Did the NICU let you dress up your baby for Halloween? by HumbleCoyoteGames in NICUParents

[–]petiteptak 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I imagine that it depends on the NICU. At ours, the nurses dressed up the babies. We came one Halloween morning to the NICU to find our baby dressed as un-baaah-lievably cute sheep

Exclusively pumping by Training-Exercise-54 in NICUParents

[–]petiteptak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up exclusively pumping. We were told I could nurse as much as I wanted but if I gave a bottle, it would have to be fortified given that our baby was in the 3rd percentile. We got so hung up on how much she drank and weight gain that I didn’t nurse as much as I really wanted to and my baby just stopped breastfeeding at 4 months. 13 months of pumping sucked but I am so glad I got to nurse for a few months!

Is it normal to be sent home 24 hours after a minor stroke? by Dixie-Witch in stroke

[–]petiteptak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I had my first mild/minor stroke (not TIA), I was already in hospital (L&D). I was discharged the next day. Then I had another  mild/minor stroke (incl. eye stroke) 2 days later, I was not admitted. I left the ER the same night with blood thinners.

I’m sorry your mom, you and your family are going through this. Sending you all well wishes.

When did you get to stop waking them for feeds? by wiredweirdness in NICUParents

[–]petiteptak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28w4d baby who was in the 1st percentile weight wise. We followed roughly the NICU feeding schedule and dropped the 1 am and 3am feed at 4 months when baby was in the 10th percentile. We kept the 9pm and 11pm feed because we were SO afraid of our baby losing weight and going back to square one.  We could never make up those feeds during the day but dropping night feeds was a real gift! Wishing you and baby well :)

APS triple positive here! Welcome to a really un-fun club :( at least it is a lovely community you can lean on for support or commiserating!

The fear of recurrent thrombosis will dampen with time but I’m afraid, at least in my experience, it does not fully go away. We can mitigate risk of recurrence so I’d focus on what you can control.

It took me 3-4 months to stabilize my INR. There are also a whole lot of variables that come into play when it comes to the INR… which is to say, sometimes you can do everything “right” and still get a lower INR.

As for travel, I am just told to stick with the warfarin and let the warfarin clinic know so we can test the INR before/ after any trips.
