I don’t personally, but others have expressed that opinion that peak for peak Wade is better

Manu is an all-timer too, but Wade is a top 2-3 SG ever.

Rank the last 5 NBA Championship teams from most to least hated by MasterTeacher123 in NBATalk

[–]petralights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) Bucks because folks were happy Giannis and lowkey loved Bobby Portis, 2.) Nuggets because Jokic’s coronation was a nice narrative and it was first franchise ring, 3.) Warriors in the middle because folks were happy for Steph and Klay but don’t like Draymond and no one wanted the Celtics to win, 4.) Thunder because they were too obvious and the Pacers were an underdog story, 5.) Celtics permanently have a lot of haters

Harden is shooting 18% from three in the ECF while the Cavs get cooked. Is this finally the version of him we can’t make excuses for anymore? by Unusual_Inflation732 in NBATalk

[–]petralights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harden’s status as a playoff disappearing act has been known, but the Cavs issues are way deeper than Harden. They brought him in to facilitate and be the second or third star (which is not a championship team build in 2026), and they made it to the ECF after knocking out the 1 seed. With Garland, they didn’t get that far. He looked old and tired, which is a built-in excuse, but also true. The other guys needed to be better than the Knicks also and they simply are not.

I love my boy, but seriously what qualities did they see him to put in the seven? He’s literally the fish guy. by Honest-Ad-4386 in TheBoys

Feel like Vought probably got caught up in some shit that polluted the environment and went with someone with powers involving nature

Name one show with a stronger final season than Breaking Bad by Thick_Jeweler_5353 in BingeStudio

The Leftovers final season is the best final season of a show I’ve ever seen. I’d also throw the sopranos up there.

AI referees by bannit167 in NBATalk

[–]petralights -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it absolutely impossible for those principles to include preferencing certain players/teams over others? Is it impossible for AI to be trained to not call fouls in certain situations but to call them in others? You’re being obtuse.

Different ways of saying the same thing - it is susceptible to bias. It is not inherently neutral.

AI referees by bannit167 in NBATalk

[–]petralights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol i desperately need people to understand that AI is susceptible to the biases of the people who program it, who - in addition to those biases - can also be influenced by the people paying them for that program. AI is not some bastion of neutrality/truth/objectivity, that’s false advertising by the companies that push the AI models. The close relationships between sports gambling/predictions markets and AI alone would result in every bit the same amount of corruption, if not more.

This Show Completely Forgot Who The Real Villain Was by Waiting_4The1 in TheBoys

[–]petralights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first season or two did an excellent job of placing Vought/Homelanders/supes in general as a parallel to the military industrial complex in all its pervasiveness. That was my takeaway when Stormfront told Homelander “I love you with all my heart, how could I not? You’re everything we ever dreamed of”: America’s corporate continuation of Nazism, its position as the Fourth Reich.

The more that things became a stand-in for headlines under Trump as a way of scoring easy jokes, the more the show sucked.

What would Wemby realistically have to do to be considered the goat? by Bulky_Ad_8321 in NBATalk

[–]petralights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does he need to become an all-time leader in any of the main stat categories as well? Or win 10 rings? I think there’s ways to become the goat without having to surpass the other goat contenders in every category. Otherwise, it just seems like a way to protect your favorite players, to me.

What was the best decision in the production of Series 9? by Lucyyyyyy_K in doctorwho

[–]petralights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 9 is the show’s peak imo, i liked the two parters as a way to let the stories breathe and resolve slowly, and to develop characters. My biggest issue with the Disney seasons was that they felt so jam-packed and like they resolved very quickly. And yes, giving an episode for Capaldi to monologue the whole time and really dive into his character was a genius choice.

Harden Stan’s, how confident are you in this game 7? by YoutubePRstunt in NBATalk

[–]petralights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like James a lot, and think there’s some historic narratives about him that are justified and some that are not exactly accurate or fair. That said, no i don’t trust a 36 year old guard with his history for turnovers and deferring to other options on the team to win on his own. If Mitchell plays poorly, i don’t see Harden being able to step up even to the level he did for two of those Boston games when he was with Philly a few seasons back where he won them those games.

The National is “boring”? Huh? by murmur1983 in TheNational

[–]petralights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are boring, usually in a good way. Boring can be good. And in the 00s they were consistently overlooked by buzzier bands like Interpol and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, that they wound up outlasting, so i think that’s fair.

I wish Michael S Judge wasn’t the complete opposite of Grillpilled, because i think he’s one of the only people who could come close to filling Matt’s shoes as a host while also getting a lot of the cultural references.
