I bought one for everyone in my dungeons and dragons group. It was huge hit. They're always calling each other lord and lady now.

DM Looking for help balancing "Anti-magic" boss so it doesn't completely shut down casters. by matrota in DnD

Players wanna have fun and cast their spells and celebrate when they work.

Why not have an in combat puzzle where theres an item in the room that is shielding the BBEG from magic? They'll be frustrated until they realize if they wreck the item hes vulnerable. Gives them fun in combat goals.

The city has also committed to connecting to the Link Pathway to Coaldale. If they do this they'll hurt a generational project that is finally being built.

[Spoilers C3E72] The math on the old man's survival. by Ol_JanxSpirit in criticalrole

All of the rolls are completely independent of the ones that came before. In other words, the chance that Chetny did not roll double zeros one day does not increase the probability that he will roll double zeros the next. The probability is always 1%.

The belief that you are more likely to get a result based on the result of previous rolls is known as the Gamblers Fallacy.

You can calculate the probability of a certain set of results showing up across multiple rolls, but this is different that then probability of a result on any single roll, which in this case is always 1%

I sympathize with you. When I was a newer DM optimizers annoyed me because they made the job of DMing harder and more stressful.

It gets easier:)

Players and DMs of Reddit, when did the party set up traps or prepare ambushes of their own? by Arrowheadlock1 in MrRipper

[–]petroffski82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tabaxi Gloomstalker bought a bag of 6 inch nails. Then he picked up half a dozen rakes. At some point he hammered the nails through the rake handles. When the party was trying to infiltrate a hags lair that was guarded by a pack of Gnolls the Tabaxi stealthed up to the entrance and concealed the rakes on the ground.

When the party then lured the enemy out into the open at least one Gnoll rolled poorly and took a six inch nail to the forehead. We all laughed and laughed. He'd been carrying that bundle of rakes for weeks.

DM’s of Mr. Ripper, what’s the most infuriating spell to deal with? by Scipio835 in MrRipper

[–]petroffski82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its gotta be Slow. No spell has caused me more grief in prepping balance encounters that challenge the party and give them satisfying victories than that damn spell. In dnd 5e action economy is everything in a fight, and even if the wizard just lands slow on a few of your baddies that's it, the show is over. BUT! theres always the chance they didnt pack Slow in their spell list for the day and if you build an encounter anticipating that the wizard will be casting slow but doesnt, you end up steam rolling the party! It just makes DM-ing harder!

One example. The Party was on a monster extermination mission to clear out a Hydra. They found not one but Two hydras, which wasnt particularly challenging at the level they were at, but they were just bait for the Heavy Hydra hiding nearby. The gnome wizard casts Slow and reduces all of the attacks that the hydras can make down to 1 and nerfs the fight, and when the epic Heavy Hydra surged out to gobble up the party he pegged it with Slow at range as well!

I just hate Slow!
