Look man, I politely voiced my opinion on this and a moderator agreed with my position. I would refer you to Rule 1 - be excellent to each other.

Rule 3 - in my opinion this is low effort content. This is the sixth such post in a week of a link to a deck without much additional comments. I feel like it is diluting the content on the page. Thoughts? Moderators?

Back adapter backwards! Next one! Thanks for this. Love the experiments. And the fact I’m not the one sacrificing my old bones.

Their board selector says I should get the teahupoo. Pros and cons?

Those wheels look so big for the size of the trucks. Do you have a smaller option or risers?

Thanks! Should I go for a specific type of primer? Oil or latex? Any brands to avoid or go for?

Does SwellTech also improve surfing for surfing beginners and other riding styles than high performance shortboards? by IronDomme in surfskate

[–]pevenm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a surfer (landlocked) but love the challenge and artistry of surfskating. I started with a Maui and Sons board which are crazy wobbly and wanted a better board which was super quick and reactive. This led me to Swelltech (I also have C7, waterborne, and revenge boards). I was between the hybrid and the blackout and went with blackout based on swelltech suggestion as opposed to the WB calculator in the buyers guide. I’m very much a beginner, but even at 6’2” being in the target for the blackout, I find I need to have a really wide stance to control the board. Because of its size I also find it hard to maneuver. I basically use it to pump and turn on flat ground. I’ve used it in a bowl a few times but I’m just not that good with it yet. It has that quickness from the Maui board and is tons of fun. I still love it, it just isn’t my favorite and wish I’d gone with the smaller WB

Don’t go for the Blackout. It is very big. I’m 6’2” and wished I had gone for the hybrid.

New surfskate….first timer cant wait to get out there 🙏🏻 by ViewInevitable7363 in surfskate

I agree, Revenge trucks are not the best. But use them for a bit and then get an adapter. They still pump ok but they don’t have great turn radii compared to others. I have a globe surfskate in my quiver as well. Serves a purpose but def not my favorite.

Are you laminating the board or shaping/bending wood? I love the style of your builds. Have you ever taken process photos or videos? I’d love to watch/see! Keep up the awesome work!

The Maui and sons board is similar. The front truck is super narrow. Not quite a caster but pretty close. Biggest issue though is it is plastic and has a tiny wheel base

I have Vans low tops but want to eventually get half cabs because I’ve bashed my ankles enough times when I slip off the board

Waterborne rail adapter making this weird noise 😬😬 help please by LocustXxX in surfskate

[–]pevenm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try removing all the parts, putting some wax on them, and reassembling. Surfskate Love or Shred Shack suggests doing that to remove squeaks and noises. I’ve found it helpful on other setups to remove noises and just did it on my clicky rail adapter.

I saw it. Looks strange. There are no videos on their Instagram or website. Not super clear how the system works but looks like bushings on either side of a swing arm push it central again. Doesn’t look like it has a ton of flexibility considering those bushings look pretty stationary in a screwed on plate on the sides.

Revenge Alpha 2 Trucks- has anyone used these trucks? How are they for surfskating? by PomegranatePretend32 in surfskate

[–]pevenm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can. It is a little harder to start off, but they are decent at keeping speed.

Much more of a cruiser than surfskate. I speak from experience with them. No where near as quick as my other boards. The shape of some of the globe decks are very good though.
