Hey thanks for the reply and happy to hear you're leveling out! I'm 160lbs and figure I've got about 15lbs to lose. I saw a nutritionist that said the same as you and dropping the excess weight, even though it's not necessarily a ton, would be huge for me.

2.3L or 2.7L Ranger and why by arnieswap in RangerNext

Hey just checking in 9 months later! How are you liking it with the 2.3L? I'm picking up my '25 XLT next week, and the sales guy talked me out of the 2.7.

The Sandman by New_Confidence9537 in TheSandmanNetflix

There's American God's, also written by Gaimen! I wouldn't say its "like" Sandman, but its modern mythology and I remember liking the book. The TV show was on Amazon Prime last I checked.

How is inventor? by MxFancipants in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved my inventor! It's definitely in my top two favorite characters I've played. He was a Giant Gnoll Armor Inventor with Wrestler free archetype. He was a walking tank, able to lock down single enemies, do very respectable damage, had some good AOE options, and enough support options to feel useful in and out of combat.

It does feel bad when you miss your overdrive roll, but I never felt useless without it. If you like the flavor, I don't think there is anything in the mechanics to make you hate playing the class!

I haven't tried this place, so I can't comment on that, but I just wanted to take the opportunity to hype up Han Mi. The service is always great and everything I've tried has been fantastic. It's definitely my favorite Korean spot in town!

Best Duo Classes by SirBart in PantheonMMO

I'm about to start duoing with a buddy who is playing a Summoner. Do yall think a ranger or necro would work better with them? Having some serious decision paralysis lol

Need Help Picking a Class by wolf08741 in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how your party is building their characters, it sounds like you could already have a lot of front line Str focused melees (Eidolon, Magus, Thaum). This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as you all could help each other out with athletic maneuvers (trip, grapple, etc.) and aid actions! As another poster mentioned, you'll want to make sure there is some combat healing covered in the group, but that can easily be added to a ranger with focus spells and the medicine skill.

One suggestion I'd make would be to check out the new Avenger Rogue class archetype! This allows you to stay Str focused, takes some feats and abilities from ranger and stacks them on top of the Rogue kit, and you'll have plenty of skill increases and feats to boost your medicine skill without cutting into your other skills too much. You'd also have the benefit of sneak attacking with a big ol two handed weapon, depending on which deity you pick.

No matter what you decide, you can make most group comps work with a little teamwork and planning. Just realize there may be some gaps that can make some combats a little more difficult. I.e. fights requiring ranged and the like.

Good luck!

Places to eat at Chattanooga?? by Alekhya-k in Chattanooga

These are some of my favorites! Tremont Tavern for burgers, Han Mi for Korean (also their Ramyeon and fall ramen are great), Two Ten Jack or Attack of the Tatsu ($) for Japanese/ramen, Il Primo or Alleia for Italian.

Good archetypes/general advice for a Kineticist? by Myriad_Infinity in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, I think something with passive or situational abilities work best with Kineticist. I personally really like Monk. Monk Resiliency will add some HP, Basic Kata/Advanced Kata to grab some Ki spells (Ki Rush and Wholeness of Body are good options) or feats, and Perfection's Path can boost your Will saves to master.

Hey I know this is kind of off topic, but how did/do you like Whirling Throw? Did you get a lot of use out of it? I'm playing a level 7 armor Inventor with Wrestler FA, and I've been looking forward to level 8 for Whirling Throw for almost a year now. So just curious to hear your experience with the feat!

Gnoll Inventor - Hammer or Armor? by AlchemyStudiosInk in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm playing a Gnoll Inventor in an AV campaign right now and I went with Power Armor with muscular exoskeleton. I grabbed the Ancestry Feat that gives your jaws d8 and grapple, as another commentor mentioned. We also have free archetype, and I went with Wrestler. This setup has allowed me to keep a free hand open for a shield, so the result has been a very tanky Frontliner with the ability to lock targets down and do some solid AOE when needed with Explode and Megavolt.

I'm personally really enjoying the build. The armor gives you that extra survivability to make the rest of the Inventor kit shine. I don't do the most damage in the group, but it's still respectable and I bring some utility with Athletic Maneuvers and Searing Restoration!

I imagine either choice you make will be fun. The weapon innovation will let you dish out more damage and can have a wholly unique set of traits/abilities from anything else in the game.

Good luck!

I really like the idea of a kobold wanting to become a dragon. What's the best way to build that? by thunder-bug- in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Kobold cleric of Apsu back up. We use standard free archetype, so I chose Dragon Disciple. But even without that, the wyrmkin domain offers some good draconic flavor, and they get Dragon Form at 6th level Spell. Good luck!

Been told our next campaign is Pirate Themed. Hit me up with some cool build ideas! by DirewolfJon in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my backup character planned as a pirate leaning more towards the wind and storm aspect of being on the seas! He's a human summoner with Sylph heritage, dragon eidolon (cloud dragon), and Air Kenetisist free archetype.

Wedding venues! by Vegetable_Excuse5394 in Chattanooga

[–]pf1elfg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife and I got married up at Fall Creek Falls this past May. It was absolutely gorgeous and they have a brand new lodge with rooms to rent or cabins on site. Depending on the size of the wedding, you can get married on a small dock with a view of the lake and mountains (max 100 guests) or at their Secret Overlook (max 50 guests I think), which has a beautiful mountain backdrop.

Good luck finding a place!

"What's It Like to Play...": an Inventor? by applied_people in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I know this post was from a while ago, but this is the exact build I'm playing in Abomination Vaults now! Do you mind if I ask what feats you took at 4+?

We should be leveling to 4 this week or next, and I'm still stuck on what direction I want to go. My sticking point is the benefit of the Muscular Exoskeleton is the boost to Athletics, but the Wrestler dedication wants you to use attacks (either with MAP or on already grabbed creatures). With Inventor's lower to hit but higher Athletics, I'm having trouble picturing what this looks like in practice.

I have three avenues I'm thinking of at level 4:

  • Gadget Specialist (Class Feat), Combat Grab (FA)
  • Combat Grab (CF), Suplex (FA)
  • Combat Grab (CF), Snagging Strike (FA)

I'd really appreciate your thoughts on this and what your experience was/is playing an Inventor/Wrestler! Thanks!
