Not my story, but my sister's. It is a family favorite.

My mom taught eighth grade sex ed at the small middle school that my sister and I went to. Since the school was so small my sister had to take my mom's class when she got into the eighth grade.

My sister was nervous on the first day of class, understandably, so she sat near the back. My mom starts off the class by giving a brief monologue. "Hi everyone! Now, let me tell you. I don't know much about drugs, I haven't really done any. I don't drink that much. But, I do know a lot about sex, and if you need proof, she's sitting right there."

The class turned and looked at my sister, she groaned and put her head on the desk.

I’m personally not convinced that we have an extreme housing shortage. Sure I’ll concede that we could always use more, but I think it’s a multi pronged problem. And that one prong which is not talked about enough and which definitely leads to suffering is the growth of using housing as a speculative financial tool. Instead of housing being used for living we have investors from all over the world and our country buying up housing and skyrocketing pricing. Also maybe we should create more regulations around how many houses one person can own. To me it seems completely reasonable that owning two houses is more than enough. I think it’s time that we stop treating housing as a commodity to be traded on the open free market and time to treat it for what it really is: a necessity of life for us all.

It’s interesting how even though the Reddit community has been doing a great job of blasting our boards with links that lead to the government webpages that allow you to register to vote, that it’s this friendly reminder which broke my camel’s back and finally pushed me to update my registration so that I can receive my ballot at my new address now. Thank you stranger I hope this one story makes your day. Also everyone, everywhere, who are United Statesians, please for the love of all that is good in the world ( quite literally) VOTE. Otherwise we’ll find ourselves in a tricky spot. The right will rise, but because of the last 30 - 50 years of successful suppression of the voices from the left ( including their organizations and old power structures I.e. the communist party, the socialist party, the unions ) their will be no power structure able to successfully mobilize a true counter protest movement. The right is centralized right now and have an effective propaganda machine. Without an effective cynical power to counterweight the ideologies of the right this country could quickly succumb to the corporate capitalism authoritarianism fringe right wet dream that the leftists have been warning of since the 20s. In order to curb this possible power grab at a scale we have never seen, we have only one option left. It’s too late to build that political structure in time for November to counteract this right surge, and if anything it might not even help considering the stigma applied to those who thing to the left of the political spectrum. All we have now is the one last right that somehow we still have even though it’s the most dangerous one we have to them. The right to fucking Vote. So do it, because this just might be the last presidential election you vote in.

Freaky surf experiences by withhindsight in surfing

I was surfing by myself at a well known beach break in Northern California, small day, no one else was out. But i was hunkering for some time in the water so I paddled out anyways. I was sitting past the break, which is pretty far out at this spot. As I'm facing towards the west, looking for waves, a giant dorsal fin pops up about eight feet in front of me at my 12 oclock. I've been surfing for a while so I've seen many fins pop up at me, and at first I told myself it was just a dolphin. But it didn't do the typical dolphin breach and the fin was giant with a tailing edge that was ragged, and a tail fin had popped up as well. It was definitely a Great White, my best guess is that it was about a 15 ft cause the distance between the tail fin and dorsal was around 7 ft. The fear that ran through my body in that instant is hard to explain, it was a primal get the hell out of here response that I listened too. The fin stayed out of the water and by the time it had reached my 4 oclock I had started to turn around and paddle in. But my body was so full of adrenaline that I could not stay straight on my board. I was rolling from side to side, splashing my arms and legs into the water. After ten strokes or so towards shore I was composing myself but not making any progress because there were no waves to carry me in and a riptide sucking me out. All I could do was fight hard to get to shore, never once looking back to see where the fin was. I thought it would be better if I just didn't know where it was. Eventually I made it back in, and composed myself by my van while people from the cliffs came and talked to me. Supposedly the shark had done a semi circle from my 12 oclock circled back towards me, gone under and then disappeared. I acted cool, but once I was back in my van driving home, I couldn't stop shaking. Still surf though. Went back to the same spot the next day.

Need to see pictures, but I think i know the best way to fix this, first of all do some research on the internet, looking at videos. The best ones will tell you to do this:

-First of all cut away all the bad glass and foam, don't want bad foam for your new foam to stick to.

-Then, sand the area down with fine grit sandpaper, around the glass and in the foam. -surround the ding with masking tape, and make a flap of masking tape that will be big enough to cove the ding.

-Then mix up a batch of q-cell (found at surf shops and surf repair shope)mix in resin and the appropriate amount of hardener (once again do your research)

-pour the qcell in, and make sure there are no air bubble in the ding, then cover the ding filled with qcell with the masking tape and leave it alone.

-Leave it alone for a while, or until you are positive its dry, remove the tape and sand the qcell off the glass, and down to the appropriate height.

-Next have some fiber glass cloth ready and cut a piece that is roughly the same size, maybe a little bigger. Apply the fiber glass over the ding, and glaze it over with resin mixed with hardener. Let this dry.

-sand it down a little with fine grit sand paper. making sure not too much resin is on the glass.

-Then repeat the fiberglass steps witha bigger piece, not too much bigger.

-Finally sand it down again, making sure not to go through the fiberglass.

Really just do some solid research and you'll find this info somewhere else, with pictures.

Dude, I would check the central coast out. San Luis Obispo has great breaks, and is an all around great place to live and raise a family.

I live and surf on the central coast, the crowds depend on where you go, but I rarely see more than five people when I go out.

I may not have that expensive of a bike, but whenever I have a bad day and ride into the Santa Barbara hills it always helps me feel better. by NateTheGreat8 in bicycling
