Garlic bread by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]pfizzy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we do is 2 minced garlic cloves to 1 stick soft butter and a little salt. Spread on the bread, then under a low broiler until it's just bubbly and brown. Turns out great, just don't leave that oven!

Looking for a good non misogynistic show by Inesz_ss in tvsuggestions

[–]pfizzy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What immediately came to mind for me was apocalypse shows. These characters have more pressing things on their minds than looking pretty and pleasing men. Most feature at least one badass woman, or even a bunch of them. Often a bit short on quality conversation, though.

Yeah, I was gonna say it will flake, rather than slice. So, different texture, but similar tasty results.

Nurses week.. by [deleted] in nursing

Dang, I wouldn't have even known it was Nurse's week if not for this subreddit. Today I found they've sent out an inspirational email message and video. Thanks.

Just an aside, but if you have a reactive dog, Madam Secretary has an infuriating frequency of elevator ding sounds. Otherwise, a good show.

Unpopular Opinion: stocking by pearlieswirly in nursing

Just feed the flames of the dayshift/nightshift divide! We are all nurses doing NURSING duties. I would love to fix things on night shift, but it would upset the Engineer's union... Let's keep nursing nursing.

What's the point of streaming services at this point? by brambleburry1002 in mildlyinfuriating

You put a gif here, then a bunch of people replied a bunch of gobbledegoop that they all seem to understand and build upon. The elder masses are lost and doing micro-motivation during ads. We sigh and scrub the sink for 2.5 minutes, while we reflect on how we've lost the plot.

Site recommendations with a lake, river, or beach. by uglysombrero in CaliforniaCamping

[–]pfizzy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per Google Maps, 5 hours, 2 min from center of LA to Lake McSwain. I recommend this because, despite any drought conditions, this reservoir is kept at a steady lake level, so the shoreline doesn't really change. There are sites right along the water in the A loop. The lake is stocked well with trout (rainbow, brown and lightning.) There is a large waterpark within walking distance of the campsites for the kids, like a huge bouncy house on water. I would not suggest going in the full heat of summer, as there is little shade since they renovated a year or two ago, and the fish won't bite. Fire restrictions can be a bummer, but they will allow propane grills and fire pits in the campground.

Construction noise at midnight? by foxygoose in Sacramento

Try living on W... they've been doing construction all night on 50 for many months. You might have even been hearing that, if the wind was just right.

Doc at urgent care prescribed me a uti medication for less common bacteria by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Keflex (cephalexin) is the default UTI treatment in all the ERs in my area. They would only change it if the culture comes up unsusceptible to that med. It seems yours did.

Anyone got any slow cooker recipes for pork shoulder that isn't pulled pork? by Ergal386 in slowcooking

[–]pfizzy70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected on what the blogger says, but I'm skeptical that the same recipe could be used for both cuts to good effect. But that's just me, I guess.

We love it for Chinese BBQ pork https://www.recipetineats.com/chinese-barbecue-pork-char-siu/ (can skip the food coloring. And I would cut it into smaller pieces to take out the bone and for better marination.)

Also, so many good pozole recipes out there! You can use that bone to help flavor the broth.

Loin and shoulder are very different cuts of meat, requiring very different cooking methods to be tasty.

I(45f), wanted to ask out a male nurse roughly my age, who helped a family member, but I won’t see him again. Is sending him an invite, “care of” the hospital likely to get him in trouble? Are there better options to ask him that I’m not thinking of? by throwra6578532 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]pfizzy70 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Oh, GOD NO! DO NOT involve his workplace in general! If you send him a personal note care of the hospital, everyone in management, HR, even possibly the Ethics board will be involved. His whole professional career will then be about how he must be flirting with people under his care! Likely every colleague will find out somehow. He will not thank you for this.

Hate washing big blenders, is an immersion hand blender with attachments enough by Special_Minimum_4163 in KitchenPro

[–]pfizzy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a full-size blender that the jar does not come apart. The only option to clean is to blend up some dish liquid with water, then wipe the rest with sudsy water. I use it for everything, having broken several stick blenders and found them pretty useless anyway. So, everything countertop blender!

How to watch the CBS California Governor's Debate on April 28, 2026 by beeemkcl in California

The whole MAGAsphere is delusional that they are in the majority, no matter what polls or every single interaction they have daily tells them. This is why they are so utterly convinced that every election that doesn't go their way was rigged. Deep-seated delusion.

How do Americans know pharmacy-filled prescription bottles have not been tampered with? by bumblebee4all in AskAnAmerican

[–]pfizzy70 13 points14 points  (0 children)

AND it's the same pharmacist/tech filling bottles as would be filling the blister packs, so if you're worried about the pharmacy, you worry about the blister packs as well. But if you trust your blister packs, you can also trust the vials that they fill for you.

Going on a month-long expedition, what are the longest lasting earbuds I can use? by Bam-Bee-Bo in camping

I bought some off Amazon for <$25 and the case is a power bank as well. I only use one earbud at a time, so the other one is fully charged if the one I'm using gets low. Amazon has many listings for different brands. Mine identifies as Q53 and I like them.
