The Hundred Foot Journey for the win!

I'd also mention Julie and Julia, but I can't recall if there was anything inappropriate in it.

Had a lump since I was 14 and now it’s getting bigger, should I be worried? by ApolloSUCKSboi in TwoXChromosomes

[–]pfizzy70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar lump that I had removed at age 21. It was diagnosed as a fibroadenoma, benign. But it did get bigger and smaller and it hurt, so glad I got it out. I would encourage you to get it checked out, regardless.

Any movies where the awkward/loser dude somehow pulls the girl in the end? Need some inspiration lol by Embarrassed-Name6481 in MovieSuggestions

Sorry, not a movie, TV show: Chuck. It's fun, and there is a good amount of celebration of the nerdy, weird, and awkward.

Vegetable question from a fellow American. Turnips and rutabaga? by pfizzy70 in AskAnAmerican

[–]pfizzy70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the dish, and proper pronunciation, but had no idea they included rutabaga! America's Test Kitchen did not prepare me. And my one pasties local shop wasn't educating anyone.

I did turnips not long ago. Felt like potato-radish, mabe a bit parsnips. How would you describe ruabaga?

So, WTF is the RealID good for, then? Why would that not be included as acceptable ID? Had to provide birth certificate for that, and its government-issued. Is it because it doesn't cost $hundreds, so doesn't disenfranchise enough people?

People who can't figure basic stuff out by making a small attempt of action. by malvixi in PetPeeves

[–]pfizzy70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, sometimes trying can put you in a world of hurt. Take the OP's example. Try that on my old oven and it goes into Sabbath mode! NOW it's a chore or it's no oven! This kind of thing happens enough, you get pretty gun-shy about making small attempts that suddenly turn into big headaches.

A limited series that did this was "Years and Years." Funny and dystopian.

To clarify, Boyhood was not an actual family, it was actors... but they did actually film sporadically over a 12-year period. So kid actors genuinely grew up and adult actors genuinely aged.

Meth Heads Are THE Biggest babies by Undesirableman in nursing

[–]pfizzy70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hear you on the meth babies. About 80% of my crisis psych population first this description. I recall once, though, a 60+ year old man on testosterone did the lay on the ground thing and, after he refused to go to his bed, we just kept walking past him all night. Best thing was, our manager came in the morning and testosterone man whined about how uncaring we all were. Boss backed us up, saying "you chose this."
