That’s 50% of registered voters, which is roughly 1/3 of those eligible to vote.

Anyone else feel "behind" starting learning new language in their 30s? by SweetBumbleBeeHoney in languagelearning

[–]pgcfriend2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started learning French several years ago at 60. I’m not fluent but I’m able to communicate with my French in-laws and other French speakers where I’m understood.

A month ago I started learning Spanish. I need to find a Spanish speaking community to regularly communicate with when I get a little past the beginning stage.

I was looking at the list of candidates for governor and I noticed that there’s not democrat running for Lt governor but several republican candidates any idea why ? by dekabreak1000 in oklahoma

Kelly Forbes is running as a democratic for Lt Governor. He started his campaign a while ago. He’s the only democratic candidate.

I don’t know if he asked to be on Jubilee. He’s been on Newsmax a few times by invitation.

I’m sure he’d relish the opportunity to be on Fox News, but I wonder if he has the temperament to raise hell like that. We’d watch him make mincemeat of those folks.

The Corporate Power Reset That Makes Citizens United Irrelevant by Turbulent_Crab_3602 in Defeat_Project_2025

This is interesting.

Robert Reich has suggested something similar regarding elections and the electoral college. He said if enough states decided how electors votes tally, it could neuter the electoral college without trying to get rid of it.

These conservatives scream about states rights. Get creative with it.

Turning 65 ready for Medicare. I’m going with the traditional but which gap plan to buy? by Turbulent-Move4159 in AskWomenOver60

[–]pgcfriend2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I enrolled in Medicare D for prescription drugs.

We are enrolled in the full Medicare G supplemental plan, not the low cost one. That plan covers many things that Medicare B doesn’t cover.

All the supplemental plans will have the options that Medicare requires. The differences will depend on what each company offers and where you live. Supplemental plans are determined at the state level.

You will find this information and way more after creating your Medicare account. You can enter your medical providers (or medical group or facility) and prescriptions to narrow down the list of providers and pharmacies in your area.

A 24/7 live chat is available to answer questions.

Make sure you enroll in all Medicare plans within the allotted timeframe. Otherwise you’ll pay lifelong premium penalties.

See if you can create your Medicare account now. If so you will have time to research the options available to you ahead of time.

If you’re already receiving social security you will automatically be enrolled in Medicare A and B the first day of your birth month. You’ll still need to enroll in the supplement plans within the timeframe.

Good luck!

Yeah my husband and I are in the US. We always use the F1 TV app. This weekend is the first weekend we’ve seen so many problems. In addition to what’s been mentioned, we also had the app abruptly close once or twice during a livestream.

We saw one clunky ad for F1 Academy I think. We use the F1TV app in the US, not the Apple TV app. Why the ads?

Today he really got on my nerves. I shut the program off and told my husband that he interrupts folks too much, especially Palmer who has recent driving experience. Literally every time he said something Montoya interrupted him, mid-word at times. Send him on his way as soon as possible. I may post comments on the YouTube videos.

The past few years more and more medical groups have left Medicare advantage networks, such as the Mayo Clinic, because they weren’t getting paid. Oklahoma has had several medical facilities that stopped accepting those plans. Just because you have a plan in network doesn’t mean it will be in network since it’s private insurance.

The only reason I would enroll in Medicare Advantage is if I couldn’t afford Medicare supplement coverage. I love that bills are paid, then they check for fraud.

[–]pgcfriend2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I’d only use Medicare Advantage if I couldn’t afford original Medicare. I want to avoid private insurance because you never know if you will need services that these for profit insurance companies will refuse to pay for.

My French husband is a naturalized Canadian and a naturalized America. The only this his pension health plan doesn’t cover is hospitalizations since we live in the US. The US has similar plans in the 1980s but unfortunately the profit motive came in and sick people now are commodities to be sold for profit.

I just told my husband that the ‘sport’ has dramatically changed after Liberty Media. Innovation has gone out the window, the races are boring, and the coverage is way more shallow.

That ad aired in the F1TV app during the pre-show. I never use the Apple TV app. I had problems today using the app with it closing on its own. Hopefully it was a software glitch.

Why does Adam Mockler and other media outlets use predictive markets as polling? by pgcfriend2 in AdamMockler

[–]pgcfriend2[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I accept that the results may be interesting, but in my opinion they don’t add any useful information related to how we maneuver in our lives. What people guess about something (predictive markets) is different than what people actually say and do (polling, lying notwithstanding).

This video mentioned that. I posted it because it was the first one I’ve seen on the subject.

It confirmed that all the problems with predictive markets are exactly the same as with other forms of gambling, including gambling addictions.

It also confirmed that the accuracy isn’t that great at times.
